JoshuaA
Smiler to open for Halloween? Caught glimpse of headline on sun or mirror today while in a rush. Anyone read the article? Sorry if already posted.... I don't think its confirmed, its probably just the media trying to squeeze out another article nobody wants to hear.. Kerfuffle
Alton Towers have confirmed on Twitter that it's false. There are no plans of this nature at this time. Thank you. JoshuaA

Altitude
It was the whole of the front page There's a little trick when it comes to scanning the papers! If it says 'Daily Mail' on it, hand it to the cashier as it's not fit to be sold. Kerfuffle, Liam T and Ian-S
JoshuaA
According to the daily mail it's moved to thorpe aswell, as it'll be available for fright nights rather then scarefest. lol. I'm pretty sure its opening on Howl-O-ween at Chessington.
Cal
So that control box has now been completed and has a padlock on it. I originally thought it was a phone box but doubt it now seeing as it has the padlock on. I reckon they have to restart the ride there, so that the track is checked before it's reset? RobF
It may house an extra block reset to prevent it happening again
Ian-S
Fyi, Vicky Balch is doing her first public interview on BBC2/News at 9.15 today with that Victoria Derbyshire woman.
pluk
... which can be seen here. Good to see her up and about. The smiler themed wheelchair in the background is a bit much though.
pluk
A further clip from todays BBC episode, with Victoria speaking about the crash itself.
Matt 236
Good to see she is still in good spirits despite her trauma. It's a great shame though she ended up making that decision as it sounded like things were starting to look up before getting a lot worse where amputation was the only option. Whether we'll see Smiler open again this year is another question but no doubt it'll have s large boycott group.

Benin
How did The Smiler actually crash? One train went into another that had stalled in the Knot...
TPGG
Doesn't quite sound like you know your stuff, any other more educated responses? Merry-go-girl
Coaster
Doesn't quite sound like you know your stuff, any other more educated responses? If you mean the cause of the crash, it is suspected to be human error but no official information has been released yet.
Altitude
Doesn't quite sound like you know your stuff, any other more educated responses? You're accusing someone of not knowing their stuff when you just asked how it crashed? Like Benin said, two trains crashed. The block system worked at first and stopped the loaded train at the crest of the lift, however it suddenly pushed them over the top and that's what the mystery was about. Benin
Doesn't quite sound like you know your stuff, any other more educated responses? Any detailed information on the incident is not in the public domain... And you didn't exactly specify that you wanted actual cause, you just asked how they crashed... JoshuaA
Doesn't quite sound like you know your stuff, any other more educated responses? TBH Benin gave you all that anyone could say.. Anything about how it happend is speculation.
TPGG
Thank you Merry-go-girl. I think it was reasonably obvious that I was interested in an answer encompassing comprehensiveness beyond the likes of 'One train hit another'
Altitude
We all know I seem to end up in arguments all the time, however... You say Benin's response was too vague however your original post was just as vague and open anyway! I can see where you're both coming from though I guess. On another note, when do you think we might actually get an official reason from Merlin Entertainments? Some articles in the media previously linked it all to human error and Towers have denied it haven't they? Or did they just deny the Autumn opening?
TPGG
By my understanding, they've only denied the rumours that they plan to re-open it for Scarefest
Liam T
Just watched the 'This Morning' interview with Victoria, and it's very interesting to hear she actually went to visit the trains in the H&S lab. She mentioned about how both trains created a 'v shape' then they hit... again puts thing into prospective. I've haven't heard about Smiler testing recently, I can only assume it's still having it's ongoing process.
