yeah Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 Oh come on, the budget to repaint a ride is nothing next to operational costs... I'm not agreeing with the ride closures (that said, was it ever confirmed?), but let's not make comments that don't really add up... You know, I don't think they were confirmed. To be fair, some of them are quite stupid. They're totally going to close a popular ride after 3 years of operation aren't they?Sent from my SM-G361F using Tapatalk Quote

Project LC Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 Sub-Terra popular? Hahahahahahahahaha. Quote
Coaster Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 Soooooo they have budget to repaint a ride but no budget to open half the park...? I am soooo confused.Repainting a ride is an investment that will last for years, and I think it's fair to say that something needed to be done with the Nemesis track.Closing rides on the other hand is an attempt to reduce the day-to-day running costs of the park, not that I'm defending it. Project LC Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 I believe he was talking about that they would close a new ride after 3 years because it's unpopular and has a very high running cost. Exact ride closures have not been confirmedis yet. JoshC. 1 Quote
Matt 236 Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 Sub-Terra is/was the Meg Griffin of Towers it was never really liked the start and never gets any prominence in the park either. I'll be astounded if it's still existing next decade. Kerfuffle 1 Quote
TraX Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 Ditto, it just fails at the finale. Quote
CharlieN Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 + 2. Sub Terra always had queues when I was there. yeah 1 Quote
Mitchada04 Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 This budget argument baffles me. Yeah, all the parks are clearly on tight budgets. But there is potentially a good reason behind each rumoured closure. Ripsaw, old and not worth the maintenance budget for what it is. Sub Terra, just not popular enough for how much it costs to run. Flume, needs to go, people have been saying for years it needs to go and be replaced. What's to say they won't replace it? CATCF, again. It's been said for years this needs to go, plus apparently the contract is out now on it so who knows. Driving School and Hex are rumoured to close so work on that part of the Towers can take place. We don't and probably won't know the reasoning behind any closures, but let's not jump at the budget thing. Do you really think they'd close that many rides without good reason? There are many other ways to save money if that's what you really want to do. Plus, until Towers confirm anything it was just sparked by reliable sources. You know how often Towers U-Turn stuff, some of it may be saved. Quote

yeah Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 + 2. Sub Terra always had queues when I was there. That's what I mean. It is quite popular with non enthusiasts.Sent from my SM-G361F using Tapatalk Quote
Project LC Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 No it really doesn't have large queues. At any point in time the queue is always minimal. Quote

pognoi Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 Hasn't that been the background of AT-TLC's twitter for a week or so now? Quote
J.S217 Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 With this fantastic repaint of Nemesis I was listening to the whole Nemesis story. With doing so I imagined a pre show from the Bottom of the station going up the steps showing the Nemesis story before your ride It could work. Quote
Benin Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 As much as you can't say no to more Tom Baker, the story is so terribly 90s, though probably not helped by the amazing video... Quote
JoshC. Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 Couple more pictures of the Nemesis repaint, courtesy of Towers Street... I do believe that there will be some aged rust / dirt effects added (as in the photo a couple of posts above). The second photo really shows the difference this is making though! Quote
Matt 236 Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 I think it looks much better in it's refresh of paint, I like seeing rides nice and shiny again. Am I the only one who thinks Galactica may have also been repainted, or at least received a jet wash anyway? Quote
