Benin
Love how we blame Intamin.. There are plenty of Launch coasters out there which cables havent snapped Like their LSM ones...
Cal
So the Smiler and Thirteen are currently closed, not a good day for Alton - http://ridetimes.co.uk/
pluk
Gone a lot more unnoticed than the Smiler for obvious reasons, but Th13teen seems to have had a really poor end to the season reliability wise. Coaster
Marc
Ritas down now too.... And people say thorpe has reliability issues...
pluk
I say Thorpe had reliability issues. And Slammer.
Dan9
Ride Times does make it very easy to monitor though, whereas because Thorpe doesn't have that service most things go unnoticed other than Samurai and Slammer being down. Thorpe's end of season was definitely far from smooth
Mattgwise
Ritas down now too.... And people say thorpe has reliability issues... And now Oblivion
EC!
4 major rides closed that is definitely looking bad on Alton, bet guest services has a bigger queue then what smiler usually gets! EDIT: Mine train has an 80 minute queue, since when has that ride ever had an 80 minute queue!
Mitchada04
From Towers Nerd Live yesterday. That's why all those rides are closed, nothing to worry about (why Spinball hasn't closed though I don't know unless they realised that doesn't need to close). pluk

Marc
I don't think smiler / thirteen have been down since 3/4 pm for fireworks pluk
Coaster
when Saw had FIFTEEN separate shutdowns in a day? You're having me on!
Marc
You're having me on! That's nothing on things like stealth back in the day
Fred
I don't think smiler / thirteen have been down since 3/4 pm for fireworks They both had 120min queues, they both closed at 4pm or just before as they need to be clear by 6pm. Benin
Most parks do this actually, closing queues early if they're excessive... Walibi closed a 2 hour queue for their woodie a hour before park close... Makes sense if it's down to the fireworks, even Disney do that... Fair enough , but dan is right the site has shown Alton rides do seem to be mis behaving a little more recently, that or they always have just didn't have a site which showed it quite so clearly
Benin
I think they mostly always have, especially the Intamins... Imagine if Thorpe had such a website over the last few years... That wouldn't have provided a good indicator...
Marc
I think thoroe have significantly improved now tbh. Apart from the odd couple most of Thorpes rides are at their most reliable points now and work quite reliably. Swarms still yet to have a entire day closed which b&m or not is pretty impressive imo! Tom
I don't know why we argue which park has worse reliability; they both have unacceptable levels. Coaster
Matt 236
Thorpes rides this year have all been pretty reliable. This excludes Slammer (for obvious reasons, Storm Surge (because it seems to break down 3 or more times a day) and also Samurai (and maybe to a degree Loggers). Which when you think about it is not actually very good, is it? It helps a lot that they are not headline attractions.
Topsyturvy15
Half term 2014 line up: http://www.altontowers.com/events/half-term/ Not bad bar Thirteen, Rita and Oblivion!
Coaster
Not the best lineup in the world, but it would be nice to see Thorpe do something similar next year! Inferno
Fred
RMT, Air, Nemesis, Spinball, NST, Duel, Hex, Charlie.. Pretty good lineup for the usual enthusiast, far better than a couple of years ago (even if it did used to include Oblivion).
Benin
Be interesting to see if the event is as busy as it was last year... Unsurprising Oblivion hasn't made it back, would imagine (read: hope) the park have some major plans to fix Smiler's constant issues... As for Thorpe doing one, only if it's nothing like the last time they tried... Although I sense they'll always be at a disadvantage due to their island location meaning a complete lack of temperature cover for the rides...
