February 27, 201312 yr comment_151311 It seems not everybody is smiling! By the way, The Smiler looks amazing.
February 27, 201312 yr comment_151312 I'm guessing from pictures of the game that The Smiler will have shoulder restraints?
February 27, 201312 yr comment_151316 Liking the game so far, haven't unlocked anything yet though. As for The Smiler, I hope that it will have some indoor queueline themed similar to the waiting area for The Sanctuary - because I think that "false sense of security" atmosphere was really good and would be good if it was incorporated into the ride somehow.
February 28, 201312 yr comment_151367 Can anyone confirm whether The Sanctuary will be a charged attraction when it is open in March?
February 28, 201312 yr comment_151369 Doesn't sound like it's available for general public to go in, I read somewhere that is was going to be used for team building exercises or something Also for anyone who hasn't seen anything on the Smiler app here's a short video giving you a look around it:
February 28, 201312 yr comment_151374 Can anyone confirm whether The Sanctuary will be a charged attraction when it is open in March? I understand it is open with the main season until The Smiler takes over and is not a paid extra, but it's only open for a limited amount of hours daily. I'm not sure I've remembered that correctly though.
February 28, 201312 yr comment_151381 It's another "scariest coaster in the world ever" marketing line for The Smiler... where have I heard that before? Cool artist impressions though! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2286085/Alton-Towers-The-Smiler-Psychologists-set-unveil-terrifying-roller-coaster-ever.html
February 28, 201312 yr comment_151382 DAT ARTWORK So basically, it's just gonna be some extra sensory effects on the giant machine (which will break in two weeks )
March 1, 201312 yr comment_151393 It looks like something outta War Of The Worlds!I really hope they don't use that music in the video on the ride!
March 1, 201312 yr comment_151396 The last time I got this excited over a new rollercoaster was for Saw. Bring on the smiler, I'm gonna love this sexy baby and that storyline is my cup of tea - right up my street!
March 1, 201312 yr comment_151414 I didn't get that excited for Saw. But I am excited about this. Any rollercoaster where the layout is a tangle, I'm always intrigued.
March 1, 201312 yr comment_151419 Amputee spider looks, erm, interesting. I like the idea, not to sure they've quite got to the right place with it though? They've decided they have these 5 legs of interaction, gone for near miss hypodermics (maybe squirting?), strobing lights (should be disorientating) and I think one of the others looks like a mister. So far so good, but then it's like they've dried up on ideas and had to fill the other legs with something. I don't see how some spinning discs or an areal car wash will interact or be noticeable to riders at all really. Not that you can tell from a bit of concept art, have to wait and see how it turns out.
March 1, 201312 yr comment_151420 I think it's partly for off-riders as well on those on-ride... As they used to do, provide LOTS to look at from various angles for both groups of people, it'll look a fairly impressive beast...
March 1, 201312 yr comment_151435 It looks like they've tried to throw as much as possible onto those legs! possibly slightly over the top! Where do tower's keep finding these 'psychologists' to help design their rides?!
March 1, 201312 yr comment_151458 It looks like they've tried to throw as much as possible onto those legs! possibly slightly over the top! Yes, I'm thinking the same. There's such a thing as too much themeing, and it's almost verging on the edge of tacky with the Smiler. Less is more!
March 1, 201312 yr comment_151463 DAT ARTWORK So basically, it's just gonna be some extra sensory effects on the giant machine (which will break in two weeks ) Or in layman's terms...It's a knockout meets roller coaster
March 1, 201312 yr comment_151465 Oh seriously. Couple of people actually moaning about this? I beg to differ. Heaven forbid, some intense theming and something crazy and unusual. MORE! MORE! MORE! Just look at that thing. It's like nothing else!
March 1, 201312 yr comment_151472 Don't get me wrong, I love the current/planned themeing, but The Smiler definitely doesn't need any other bells and whistles. I don't want to lose the sinister dystopian atmosphere is all.

March 1, 201312 yr comment_151474 Surely more theming would add to the atmosphere though? (As long as it was done correctly etc...) There'd be no point from the rider's perspective...although as someone else pointed out, people offride will be able to enjoy the ride in typical Wardley fashion.

Yeah but it's always nice to have some theming whilst in the ride area/queueline, as well as for the actual ride experience. Some theming can add to the ride though, even if you only see it for a few seconds as you go past.
