rollercoasterbob
I think the swarm could be one of the best coasters in Europe :Dwell it's definitely going to be one of the best coasters in the uk
JoshC.
I'm trying my best to not look in depth at these photos, but failing...I'll echo what everyone else has said: brilliant! This is certainly one experience that many members of the public will not forget. If I was to pick up on a criticism, it would be that (for me), this is way too much for closed season updates. I'm all for updates, but personally - especially for Swarm in particular - I'd have preferred the 'secretive', wait till opening day stance, and for them to not show anything. I doubt that's the majority opinion, so Thorpe are doing the right thing with this, but just my personal taste I guess.
TraX
JoshC, very simple answer; stay out of this topic. easy!
mah boi
One thing that spins my head, is that there will most likely be a fire effect. But the area where the possible fireball locations will be are either towards the track, which might damage the trim, or in a area where the public could have a barbie. Well, lets see what thorpe does. sque132
JoshC.
I try Neil! ;)I even 'unliked' the Developer Diary on Facebook to stop accidentally seeing it on Facebook. But temptation is a hard thing to resist it would seem... XD
Diesel
Okay someone pointed out in a photo the possibility of pipes in the ground, If I'm in on the same wavelength of where your are looking I'd hate to break it to you but its a pile of disembled scaffolding which can be found up close here: However, does anybody not think that the engines being gutted is somewhat trivial? They have bought the plane and yet they are gutting them? Maybe there is the possibility of small gas tanks inside the engines themselves, if in the hopeful case the fire effect will be upon the many wonders of the ride.I have gone through the images as shown above and have come to my own conclusion what ever was found out Alton Towers will arrive at the park and be used. My reason for this being, the plane would of remained at the yard where it was bought taken down to everything they wanted in this case being the planes right hand wing & two engines part of the right hand side fuselang and the tail end of the plane, once they have what they wanted transport it to Alton towers where they can keep it safe, theme it, etc etc where the bits that where left unwanted would remain and be recycled at the plane graveyard. So in repsonce to the wheels being used, I'm sure we can count on them being used, not only are they themed with the similar 'burnt' effect but why would the company waste money transporting it to Alton Towers if they would just throw it away. We can see the 'burnt' effect below (on the white metal) : Sidders and Ricky
rollercoasterbob
oh yeah :)I didn't notice the "burnt effect" on the wheels :wacko:but I think it would be good to use them like somewhere near the plane and maybe have a foot chopper where they stick up
Fred
Diesel is correct - it was gutted when seen at towers in september (though, me not being a plane geek or anything just thought they made it rather than just brought in a plane!) Geo
when will they start putting the helicopter parts in?Who know's, seems they have alot of plane theming to finish first, although some of the photo's yesterday were slightly old. StevenVig
This project is the best the UK has seen in a long time. Now where have I heard that before? *Saw*
mah boi
when will they start putting the helicopter parts in?The helicopter shouldn't take long at all. Heck they might have completed it already, and realese pictures of the finished product in a few days, like they did with the plane. But, I think it should be installed already. TraX
Now where have I heard that before? *Saw*HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA and then it opened. Well, a few odd days here and there around the 'opening' date..I'm confident that The Swarm won't suffer from such an all time enthusiast fail. Sidders
Please, SAW looks like a Tonka-toy compared to The Swarm and I saw no-one proclaiming it to be the "best" coaster. They definitely praised it, but it could only gaze up at that lofty accolade.
Geo
Saw was great, and still is, might not have cost a huge amount but everybody I know loves it. Sure it doesn't compete with SWARM's size, cost and theming, but Saw gained Thorpe lot's of publicity, so therefor was a success. - and still is really, huge ques and used majorly with Fright Nights.P.S, I have no SWARM response's Drawin and mah boi

javs
*Troll Alert*! Anyway, does anyone think that the helicopter rotor blades may turn?! After having seen the amazing quality of theming thus far, I simply cannot wait to see the rest!
mah boi
No. I don't think the rotor blades will spin. The plans show that the rotor blades have been broken, and some are on the ground still connected to the helicopter so a no to spinning blades. Unless they change it, which would be interesting. Geo
Oh I thought the plane turbines would spin freely in the wind, perhaps not then.

TraX
Well, I would list the reasons, but hey.. this topic is on the Swarm.
rollercoasterbob
yeah the swarm will definitely not let us down as the ride is the ride is amazing the scenery is amazing and has lots of foot and head choppers and it has a good queue line and it is tall and it is fast and I could keep saying all these things for a long time
Geo
Agreed. Could we take it over to the saw topic though, I'm interested to here the likes and dislikes about saw!
