October 17, 201113 yr comment_125126 Apprently the reasoning behind the track being in the lake was to hold one of the guide ropes down... So I went into the given photo and zoomed in and you can see the wire/rope going down in the direction with an orange strap of some sort on the track piece itself... still it may of just slipped!
October 17, 201113 yr Author comment_125131 I'm sure it will be fine, and I'm sure if it isn't it will get sorted I do get the impression Diesel is probably right though , if it wasn't meant to be there I'm sure they would of got it out sharpish!
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125132 Yeah true, was meant to be a jokey post really .In regards to the latest updates, I can't believe how gargantuan this thing looks even though it's only 27ft higher than SAW - The ride !
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125135 That's because Saw-the Ride is a flimsy, cheapo, rough 'wanna be dive machine' and The Swarm is an expensive, reliable, Rolls-Royce of a roller coaster. I'm going to make full use of the week after Fright Nights to photograph this baby!
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125136 Yeah true, was meant to be a jokey post really .In regards to the latest updates, I can't believe how gargantuan this thing looks even though it's only 27ft higher than SAW - The ride !I'd say its just because The Swarm's track is just so chunky and the lift hill takes up a far larger area. Even compared to the taller Stealth, Swarm impresses.
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125144 Work continues on the first drop. The next section of track installed can just be seen before going out of the picture. This really does go a long way out over ther water.
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125145 That'll be the section of track who's support is the large triangular frame extended right towards the Flying Fish would it not? There's two supports out there; one for the section of track just installed, one for the piece installed just before that. Looking at the plans, I figure the next piece in will be the inversion, which will look mighty impressive.
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125147 Looking at the plans I don't think the section of track installed this morning has the support attached and it is infact the next section up that will have the support.I may be wrong though and I'm sure we will find out soon enough if we get some updates that aren't from the time lapse camera. Is there a possibility of the flying fish being closed today with construction so close by? October 18, 201113 yr comment_125148 Thanks Steve, been wondering where people have been getting the updates from for ages. Cheers mate
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125150 That twist before the drop is mighty tight, can't wait for it to go in
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125156 Great stuff! You can just see the end of track creeping into picture. Loving the fact you'll be facing the water on the way down
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125160 Does anyone know how deep the water surrounding is? or is it more like sludge
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125165 Judging from the fact that part of the track was submerged in it, at least half a meter... I wouldn't imagine it to be much deeper than a meter if that though.
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125168 Great stuff! You can just see the end of track creeping into picture. Loving the fact you'll be facing the water on the way down Is it just me that sees the first support of the corkscrew erected in the far left of this photo?
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125172 I was just about to post that Answers the support question. It just looks more and more intimidating every day... And now there's a decent amount of it to look at together, I really do adore that track colour even more. And looking at the portrait picture with all the mechanical gubbins on the lift hill makes me positively squeal! I still can't believe we're getting it... At Thorpe Park! Wooooo
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125173 Another fantastic set of pictures. Thank you for all the updates. This thing looks HUGE! Looking forward to seeing it myself tomorrow...
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125174 Possibly, but I thought it was a digger at first??Ahh indeed it is James! My bad! :PBut corr, those pictures of the drop aren't half gorgeous, are they? Cheers for the update Liam.
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125175 Flippin heck, it does seem one will recieve alot of G's on that drop. Will look better when the plane is in place though.^It is a support the one you pointed out.
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125177 It's definitely a support but not the one I thought it was. The support in that picture is the one connecting the inclined loop to the helix. It was a mistake of mine to think what was actually a digger looked like the support leading out of the helix and into the corkscrew.
October 18, 201113 yr comment_125180 I haven't been this excited about a ride since Nemesis Inferno! And I know it's a terrible ride but I did love the drop on G-Force at Drayton Manor, simply for the sheer novelty of starting the first drop upside down. Obviously this should be ten times better but the thought of it having a similar(ish) feeling to G-Force's first drop does get me excited!
