  1. Started by Coaster,

Our day started getting up at 4am to get to BPB early, so we could get our passes processed. This proved a good move as we were first in the queue, and it was good to see a separate room for processing passes where thought had been put into the layout, to speed up the process. Following this we entered the park, I can't remember the order we did the rides, but here's a few of my thoughts from the weekend. Ride availability was generally good aside from Grand National (which kept having stoppages), The Big One opened late on Sunday and Valhalla closed at around 3:30pm (due to an issue of some sort). The Big One and Avalanche were bot…

So, better late than never. I had originally planned this trip for November, but with work and travelling the time never really came up for me to actually visit the park. I flew a friend of mine over here courtesy of my company last week, and this therefore granted me the perfect opportunity to drag someone along with me to Six Flags over the weekend. Our day started off pretty well, we were up and ready on time, hangover free as we played it sensible on the Friday night and didn't go out. The sun was blazing down in Santa Barbara as we got an Uber to the AMTrak station at 9am. Unfortunately, this is where things started to go tits up. We payed our $15 each for our on…

So, it's thanksgiving over here in the USA next week and I'm having a couple of days off forced upon me! I was planning to head to Los Angeles to do some shopping, but more importantly it looks like I'll have time to visit this rollercoaster mecca. I've had a read through a few of the reviews on here and also on TripAdvisor and it seems to be a mixed bag really. I'm not expecting an awful lot from it in all honesty I've read that it's dirty, the staff are rude and it's packed full of nobheads. My plan is to purchase the fast pass things which appear to be valid all day for all of the rides! I'll give you a report and try and get some pictures from my visit, but…

Hey off to germany this weekend doing Phantasia land for the first time then driving over to Europa park for 2 days, unfortunately halloween horror nights have sold out on both days we are there. Has anyone got any tips for Phantasia land as we will only have around 6-7 hours on park

  6. As some of you may know, I was promised a trip to Six Flags Great Adventure (New York is the overall trip) depending on my GCSE results and because the results corresponded with my parents' promise, I'm offically going to this place and everything is booked. I just wanted to simply ask for any advice from anyone who's been here or anyone who knows more about it than I do so I'll put it into the following questions: Do most of the rides have front row queues? If so, do they get very long? Is the Safari Off Road Adventure worth the 40 minutes? (I don't want my entire family to be bored but at the same time, my mum and my brother aren't big on major r…

  7. So on Sunday 21st August 2016, me and EC! as part of our California trip, visited our first theme park of the trip, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom... I'm not the best at explaining things or going into detail, so here's an overview of the park and our day, and some pictures, Enjoy! From the outside the park looks incredibly compact, a bit like Thorpe Park... But once inside, even though some of the coasters are bunched together the park is surprisingly big to walk around. The park is visually stunning and very well kept, and just in general looks really nice, unfortunately the day felt a little ruined by the reliability (or lack of) of the park, with V2 not openi…

We do not have a topic for Merlin's second best opening hours theme park?! How is this possible. I;ll start us off.If you know me, you know I hate Legoland. With its branding getting in the way of interesting and original themes, it was never my favourite park to visit. On my first visit, queueing 40 minutes for a Rocky Express clone seemed ludicrous, an hour for a wildmouse that dies after its first drop? Seriously? So we wind round to 2012. Since my last visit to Legoland, I've got a bit older, that bit wiser and was willing to give Legoland another chance. One because its had a few new rides and two, the boyfriend forced me to go.So we rolled up about 11:20.I give em on…

  9. First of all I've just joined this forum properly (though I've been looking on it for months, I've only just created an account) so if I've posted this in the wrong board then I'm sorry - I wasn't a hundred percent sure where it would go. So I'm planning a trip to Thorpe Park in about two weeks (9th and 10th of July). Needless to say I'm very excited for it. However, I have quite a few questions that I'm not sure on (first time going to Thorpe Park). Again, I wasn't sure where this would go but I presumed that me posting a ton of individual threads on Quick Questions wouldn't be the best idea, so I've put them all into one post. How much is it for…

PARK OPEN: 10am - 10pm RIDES CLOSED: Drenched, Bounce, Tink's Flying School We visited Oakwood for the After Dark event this year, which included fireworks and a colour party. Over the years I've had mixed visits at Oakwood; some are brilliant, whereas others are not-so good. The day started badly with Megafobia not opening on time, however we did manage to get a ride on Bobsleigh before the queue built up, and a few goes on Speed which was running two cars. This is an improvement on previous years, where it has only been running one despite a large queue; it ran two cars all day which was great to see! The park is much nicer kept tha…

  11. PARK OPEN:10am - 6pm RIDES CLOSED: Voodoo Having never visited Flamingo Land before, I was looking forward to getting to a new park and wasn't sure what to expect. We arrived at 9:30am and bought our tickets with no queueing, after which we entered the park to find that Cliffhanger was already open! On the way over we noticed that Mumbo Jumbo was also open, despite there still being 20 minutes until the opening time, so we did that followed by Cliffhanger - a very good start to the day. The park is set out fairly well with some nice theming in places, however some of it could do with some TLC, for example Kumali's entrance sign. …

  12. PARK OPEN: 10am - 5:30pm RIDES CLOSED: Flying Cutlass Having not visited for a few years, I was eager to return to Lightwater Valley to see what had changed, and to get back on The Ultimate! The day got off to a good start with a ride on Eagles Claw before the main park opened (10:30am), then straight onto Twister to dodge the queue followed by two rides on Raptor Attack (again before the queue built up) and then we made our way to The Ultimate. The park is in a fairly good state aesthetically with grass well kept, and the countryside setting really adds to the overall feel of the park. With that said, some of the rides looked in need …

Hi everyone! Me and Peaj are planning a trip to Gardaland from the 8th September to the 12th. Neither of us have been before and so we were wondering if anyone has any advice as to what to do and how to make the best use of our time We are planning on spending a day and a half in Gardaland, a day at the Caneva water park and a day at Movieland. We should also have time to explore the local area and so if anyone knows where to go/ what else is there that would be great too We're planning on staying at a hotel 2-3 miles from Gardaland but any recommendations would be useful. Many thanks!

  14. A few weeks ago I returned from a holiday to Amsterdam which of course included a trip to Efteling, one of the biggest theme parks in Europe. I'd read a bit about the park beforehand and wasn't too sure what to expect. On the one hand Baron looked like an excellent coaster and the atmosphere seemed so quaint and lovely but I was worried that the park would be too kiddie focused and as an adult there wouldn't be enough to interest me. Quick spoiler warning, I will be discussing parts of some attractions which I wouldn't have wanted spoiling myself so if you've got a trip planned please don't read this! The day started with an early wake up and by 7AM we were ou…

I am planning to go to Thorpe park sometime in summer. I am not planning to do any of the more intense flats or saw/ Colossus. From looking at queue times, I have realised not to do depth charge or swarm first. Is it a bad idea to do storm surge earlier on when there are shorter queues? Any tips would be much appreciated!

Beginning of a new year, which means a whole new season of theme parks is just round the corner! So, what theme parks are you thinking of visiting in 2016? What trips have you got planned, are in the middle of planning or still umming and ahhing over? Discuss away (and prepared to feel envious over whatever Benin has got planned for the next 12 months...)

Guten Tag! With a week off at the start of July myself and the wife are heading over to Germany for some riding and adventure. We were originally thinking of trying to do the whole west side from Phantasialand / Movie Park and surrounding parks down to Europa, but soon realised we'd spend the whole trip either riding, driving or sleeping and see none of Germany, which seemed a shame, so we've scaled it down a bit to the southwest corner. I've never been to Germany before (other than a days skiing a couple of years back), so this is all new to me. Flying out on Tuesday afternoon to Baden Baden, hiring a car, the current itinerary is... …

  18. So yesterday I took my first trip to Thorpe Park since April 2010, it was a last minute thing and booked the night before as me and my pals had decided whilst in the pub it was something we should do as we all had a day off. Drove down to the park for about 9.50, once we arrived I saw the entrance area was pretty busy. I was expecting a busy day having known college kids had just finished there exams and school trips. waited around outside the entrance for a about 10 minutes, noticed the massive screen, that was cool, defiantly an improvement over what was there before. I also like the new branding, much better then those big head guys and the promotion of pis…

A few days ago I returned back from a few days at Portaventura. This is a park I had been to once before last year, however two weeks ago I was emailed a very exciting deal for the hotel and park tickets and after a quick search I found some very cheap flights and it was decided, in a week I would be back off to Portaventura! As it was such a last minute trip I couldn’t find anyone to join me, however I’m a very introverted person so I was looking forward to having a holiday by myself and taking it at my own pace. After a sleepless night I was off to Stansted for my late afternoon flight. After being super cautious and arriving nearly four hours before …

  20. Day 1 - Pleasurewood Hills PARK OPEN: 10am - 5pm RIDES CLOSED: None that I can think of, but several breakdowns/late openings. After enjoying a day at Pleasurewood Hills last year we decided to return this year. The day started badly; after park opening we headed to Enigma to find that it wasn't ready to open, then found that Wipeout was also not open. Fortunately Marble Madness opened on time and was running four cars - it did go down to three later in the day due to an issue with one of the cars, but with the crowd level this wasn't really an issue. I noticed that several of the smaller rides also opened late, which isn't good. Annoyingly, de…

  21. PARK OPEN: 10:30am - 5pm (The park opens at 9:30am, but no rides until 10:30) RIDES CLOSED: Pirate Ship, Polperro Express, Tram Express (Pirate Adventure also closed indefinitely throughout this year). After seeing a half price ticket offer on the website, a last minute decision was made to visit Drayton Manor! I had visited once before, which was back in 2013 during the fireworks event. The day didn't get off to the best of starts; we arrived at around 10am (rides open 10:30am) and stood in a queue waiting for G Force to open. Just before opening time, a member of staff came out to tell us that it wouldn't be opening on time. Following this we went and queu…

I am planning to to legoland mid week. What is best for ride order and any tips I have not been since 2013?

  23. Started by ben199,

So yesterday I visited Oakwood, a park I'd read and heard a lot about but hadn't actually been to yet. I was really excited about the two main coasters but curious as to what the rest of the park would be like. First off this park is a nightmare to get to. I'm a student in Swansea so got a direct train from there to Narberth then from there you can either get a taxi or walk five miles to the park. I figured out that if I got a taxi both ways it would cost almost as much as my train and park ticket combined so I bit the bullet and walked. The first few miles I had a great time, it was a sunny morning and the countryside was lush but the final mile was down a busy A roa…

Hey is anyone up for this. Its £55 which seems quite a lot, but it sees, to include actual scare mazes, behind the scenes, and loads of other cool stuff. I was tempted to go myself anyway as I'm in the 'industry' so to speak. but thought it would be much more fun to meet and go round with others. Check out the link..... http://www.scarecon.org

Ended up going to the park on Thursday as Wednesday was insane with winds of 45 to 50mpb, although only the Big One was affected on the Wed, as was the Blackpool Tower down the road. Arrived at the park to be told The Big One would be closed due to high winds (23mph westerly) . About an hour into opening the ride began testing and about 2pm opened. The park itself was nice and quiet and staff very friendly and efficient. Didn't feel operations were poor at all, although only Big one and Avalanche were on two trains. Rest on one (two of four on nash) Overall a very good day and park stayed open until planned time of 7pm Infusion X2 (wasn't rough at the front, but …
