ERT Nemesis Inferno 10th Birthday Celebration

Gonna echo what others have said; yesterday was fantastic, I'll do my TR soon!

Had a great day, not too busy even though there was a few school trips (not as busy as July will be though!) and managed to do all rides everyone wanted to do. Nice warm day too, I even caught the sun a bit on my face! Lots of laughs with everyone and was good to meet darkadder, stretchy and KingNemesis, although I didn't get to speak to them much, sorry guys! And as always, it was awesome to see everyone else too!

The ERT event was fantastic. That 30 minutes went very fast though... Still, 6 rides on it were awesome :D I rode on second row, front row, twice on back row, second from back, then somewhere in the middle :P Despite having done front and back row before, it was a shock to experience the difference from going front row straight to back row! Also during all the rides, I was paying more attention to the forces and how much they vary; like the zero -g followed by THAT TURN :D It's made me appreciate the ride more, just like Colossus ERT did, but the original Nemesis still beats it by miles :P

Afer this, the lucky 6 people who's names were pulled out of a hat to go up the lift hill. The rest of us got to walk around some of the ride area: starting off at the bottom of the lift hill, then going into the tunnel and then underneath the drop into it. Some of the red bark is still there ^_^ We then divided into 3 groups and we had a "fastest finger first" quiz. I was with Alex, Ethan, Mr Fish, and two others (can't remember their names!) and we won! Our prize was...A TRIP THE LIFT HILL! :D Was a great surprise, I was so chuffed! But before that, we went to one other part of the ride area - next to THAT TURN! Low enough for even me to touch the track! Greasy fingers, woo! Was so fun being able to get so close to such an awesome, forceful part of the ride!

Then it was a lucky trip up the lift hill for some of us! I walked up the left hand side with Alex and Phill, without harnesses as there are railings on both sides :o Was a great experience and the view was incredible, it was a big shame that we weren't allowed to take photos. I felt so lucky when I was stood looking down on the ride

I fully agree that this would be the best ERT ever! Maybe if this were to ever happen there would have to be a special car for us loony ones who wish to stay on for all possible rides available. ;)

And me with my biased views on Saw Josh for me would be the best ERT we could get :D

Wouldn't need to limit the places for a Saw ERT either, it wouldn't exactly be a sell out event, just Luke and Peaj going round and round.

1 CAR OPERATION! :D

I can only echo what others have said. It was a very enjoyable meet. Sure I only turned up halfway through the day but even then I could tell how TPM meets have grown up since my last meet. Everyone was very sociable, welcoming and I had some great coaster chats with people I've never met properly before.

And all thanks to Thorpe Park for laying on Inferno for us. It was riding incredibly well for us. It must has have been very good as I don't remember riding it six times. Fallible short term memory clearly. The walk around was interesting to, getting up and close with a ride that I've been very familiar with over the last ten years.

So thanks Thorpe Park and thanks to Marc for getting TPM these exclusive ERT sessions. :)

A couple of photos I took on Thursday, sorry there weren't that many of them I quickly realised that walking stick, bag, drinks capsule and camera just didn't work. I need either more hands or a team of slaves to answer my every whim.

BTW My favorite picture has to be Han and her expression on the flume.

(I hear that Han will be selling her exclusively designed 'Hanhat' for £25 at leading retailers in the near future)

This was an amazing trip and I am so glad that I went, despite feeling really anxious beforehand. The ERT was brilliant although I only managed 5 of the 6 rides on Inferno (for some reason, Inferno is the only coaster at Thorpe that makes me dizzy) - was surprised I wasn't ill but I think I would have been had I not got off when I did!

I sat in the back row once, the middle area 3 times and then eventually got a front seat after charging for front row 4 times and missing a seat - big thanks to the staff member who saved me a seat at the front (I think she realised I run too slow to obtain one by myself). The staff members were really friendly and I got to walk up the lift hill which I was excited about until I got halfway up - fear of heights :o - but managed to not have a panic attack and the member of staff who spoke to us answered all of our questions and it was really interesting hearing about various details of the ride.

Before the ERT event the day was really good - started off on Colossus (I think) then Loggers where I got so wet it was like I had been on flaming Tidal Wave - thanks Stretchy for that pic!! - although - bag on head = dry hair, though I have to say that Loggers water tastes revolting

Saw had a bit of a queue and I nearly messed myself going into the building when a staff member made me jump  Luckily I couldn't see that puppet thing - it creeps me out :o - had a good ride on this but got a mild brain cell ache after.

I bailed out on Detty so went and rode a teacup on my own then flew on the fish before heading back to Detty where I bumped into Phill Pritchard. I later went on Detonator and almost had a heart attack at the top - but glad I did it because that ride scares me senseless so it was a bit of an achievement

I came off the rapids completely dry - apart from when I got squirted full square in the eyeball - what a shot! :P I was still a tad drenched from Loggers so was kinda glad I didn't get soaked

Back to the tea cups and luckily I wasn't on my own this time - Mr Fish and I tried in vain to beat Peaj at his spinning but failed miserably - half way through the ride I gave up and decided to chill whilst trying to contain my stomach contents.

Lunch time and everyone went off to different places - noticed that Stealth only had a 20min queue so I went on that (don't know why - it scares me to death) - got chatting to a random stranger who I sat next to and we were both discussing how much the ride scares us. I think I may have perforated his eardrums with my screaming :o I already have 2 ORPS of Stealth but I bought a keyring because I decided to go "hands up" and look majorly cool (whilst trying not to die of a heart attack). Bumped into Darkadder and we got some chocolate from the shop then had a go on the flying fish before meeting up with everyone.

Stealth was next with a 50min (ish) queue and so I decided to go on my fave coaster (The Swarm) instead - plus I needed a bit of space because, well I am not normal! Felt a bit of a pleb in the Swarm queue on my own but luckily the queue went down fairly quick. When the ride attendant asked how many there was and I said "one" he gave me a look that said "you clearly have no friends" Sat on the far right hand side in the middle(ish) - so far I have only ridden on the right 3 times, and the left about 11 times. Gawd this is getting waffly.

Met up with everyone at The Flying Fish where I went on (for the third time!) - then headed towards the Swarm again - this time left hand side as the queue was a tad shorter. Those restraints are so comfy I could fall asleep in them

Had another ride on X (went on it earlier in the day when, for some bizarre reason I decided to lick one of the walls) - they REALLY need some air con in there - I don't think I have sweated so much in my life  - it's nice to actually be able to ride it now that it goes forwards - me + anything that goes backwards = not a great combo

I outright refused to ride Vortex, Rush, Quantum and Slammer - never been on them, don't intend on doing do - I am a wimp! Samurai was closed (boooo) - only ridden this once and despite swearing like a trooper I would have gone on it again. But all in all, despite it being pretty busy it was an excellent day and it was lovely to meet new people.

Massive thanks to Thorpe Park for the ERT - a fantastic opportunity, and also to TPM because without this site we wouldn't have been lucky enough to have had a fantastic experience. Also, as always big thanks to Peaj for organising this and actually to everyone that went - you are all a loverly bunch of coconu.....people! Oh and apologies for my wafflage :P

Nice write up... having a "fear of heights" doesn't seem to have put you off having a great day and venturing onto a few of the higher rides.

My fear of heights has definitely become less intense since going to Thorpe Park this year - literally facing my fears (Detonator and Stealth are worse for me) and I think I've semi-conquered the fear although there is still NO WAY I would ever get on a plane :o I think the thing with coasters is that you aren't up high for very long (unless you get stuck - my worst nightmare)

Not quite sure how I managed to not panic up that lift hill - I was shaking so much and felt disorientated - was going to give my space to someone else but wanted to face it and, it isn't something you get to do everyday, plus I felt lucky that I was one of the people chosen. Tell you what though - that lift hill walk is damn good for exercise!

I've only done detty 3 times - first time I was pretty calm, second time was completely bricking it, then for a few visits I just didn't go on it - then went on it again last week - was having a heart attack (ok not a heart attack) going up and was close to tears but would have happily gone on it again once it was all over. Not a ride I could queue long for

I don't know what people find scary about Detonator!

I'm not disputing the fact that lots of people do because most of my friends are terrified of it, but personally I think that it's fun but that's as far as it goes.

If they held you at the top for prolonged periods of time more often and didn't have a countdown then it would be scarier in my opinion.

  • 2 weeks later...

It's been a long time coming, but then you have been getting a lot of trips recently ;) However FINALLY the Trip report Part 1 of 5 for the Nemesis Inferno ERT event has come to hit a web page near you! On our 7th Adventure of the year - I wonder what new stories will come about and old stories that make a slight return......

THORPE PARK know we hold events so they have so kindly made a sign for us for a meeting point -_-

1_zps7f2c19f1.jpg

To Start this event off J.S217 would like to say Hi

2_zpsb5115bbf.jpg

We start off this story with some fun socialising in the Colossus queue line, Michelle laughs whilst Mer's neck curves

3_zps8e8373c7.jpg

When we see Slammer is actually open - Naturally we go to ride it - EC! has a wonderful tongue you know :P

4_zps2ae5e506.jpg

After Han30's ingenious invention :hi: at Legoland, she shows off her new range of colours she is bringing out.

5_zpsc8df41b7.jpg

Sarah, Michelle & Peaj seem happy to take the first drop on Loggers Leap :D

6_zps77be6bc2.jpg

However Han30 is distraught her invention is starting to turn into a mini paraglider :glare:

7_zpsdee2344c.jpg

The group containing J.S217 & KingNemesis make a huge splash - Big enough to make a wave come overboard :o

8_zps5ab42dcd.jpg

In the Saw queueline - Stretchy is deep in thought  whilst EC! starts to enjoy the first bit of sun we have had this year.

9_zps7abd94e3.jpg

Marc, Mr.Fish & Han30 scream in pain going through a blade to escape the deep thinkers, whilst Peaj smiles ecstatically

It's the end of Part 1 already! Damn, time does go quick after a good read huh :good: But there's still so much more to tell you. So I'll tell you what - come back tomorrow for Part 2 and you'll wonder - Why is Mer disgruntled? Is there actually people terrified of the Flying Fish? And what is so special about chilli? Smell you laterz!

After finishing 4 hours worth of exams at work today - I can finally start my lunch at 16:45 and write you Part 2 of 5 of this wonderful, amazing, scrumptious and delightful :pardon: trip report for the Nemesis Inferno Birthday ERT Event. So what will unfold in the next chapter?

Before we continue R1C4Y would like to say Hi :tease:

11_zps60d9ecea.jpg

Mr. Fish, Peaj, J.S217 (wondering why R1C4Y is so happy  ), Mer & KingNemesis get ready to Rush...

12_zps93cc0199.jpg

All the way to the Flying Fish (Like the way how I used a ride name to link the story ;) ) to greet TobyNBZ & ScaryCoasterBoy

13_zps38ed4745.jpg

However as soon as the ride starts ScaryCoasterBoy gets upset as he gets scared of the flying fish forces :P

14_zps9833f279.jpg

However he is not he only one when we also find out Mark9 & Pluk find the Flying Fish too much to handle :help:

15_zps9b2dfc55.jpg

As the ride comes to a stop however, IanNem, Mer & J.S217 get really upset that the ride is coming to an end :(

16_zpsb79c02de.png

You know what goes well with Fish? Chilli Sauce so Mark9 decides to eat a pot of it :bad:

17_zps6c656a07.jpg

J.S217 jumps at the opportunity to eat some chilli sauce raw :clapping:

18_zps35da20ae.jpg

Mer - Like she was at the London trip - is not impressed!

19_zps477dcd79.jpg

Before the group get ready to dance - a nice mini group photo appears by Stealth :)

20_zps2c4712c1.jpg

And there we have it, Part 2 of 5 is complete. But I hear you say 'The last photo says before they go dancing, are you confused with your trips? I thought the next trip was the ministry of sound?' And also Why are so many people becoming ill in part 3? And is Pluk starting another fight? You know what I'm gonna say? You guessed correctly - come back tomorrow to find out more. Now it's the end of the day time to go home for a nap :lazy:

haha - 3rd pic down - jack (in the background does not look impressed)! :ninja: Loving the Flying Fish pics - also that last group pic is nice :clapping:

yeah I think detonator is fun.....once it is over! - the times I have been on it I have almost been in tears right before. That and, once it starts going up the tower is about the point where I want to get off - then at the top - you know there is only one way you are getting off that ride :o I am quite a wuss though - have only ridden it 3 times and that is when I have felt VERY brave

Edit: Totally went off topic there
