Olistjj
Was just wondering if anyone knew about the floods regarding their effect on THORPE PARK, it looks pretty bad in that are and I'm surprised it hasn't already seen some damage but there's more on the way :/ that lake must be awful high by now :/
0 Mark9
Residents of Chertsey have been urged to meet at the Cannery where a pulley system has been quickly cobbled together which will get residents up and over the sandbags. It is hoped they can get everyone out before the next flood hits. oh no, it's to late!! holtjammy16, Olistjj, InfernoMartin and 2 others
0 c1hrisin
same old tidal wave joke again, is it actually ok though? I presume Thorpe would take precautions?
0 JoshC.
Well, this is the worst flooding we have seen in Chertsey since the 1950s (though might actually be the worst on record soon I believe). Pretty sure Thorpe have taken precautions so that when they build rides, flood risks are taken into consideration and such. The park will be fine. 0 Marc
From the looks of the video on Sky / ITV the lakes look high but thorpe park don't look flooded yet, I noticed they are also offering their car park to local residents so id guess theres no immediate threat to the park Inferno

0 James_C
When I went last week for my assessment the lake didnt look effected at all (admittedly that was before chertsey was really bad)
0 JoshC.
http://www.itv.com/news/update/2014-02-10/thorpe-park-appears-unaffected-by-local-flooding/ Couple of aerial photos there. Water is seemingly a bit higher than normal (shock horror!), but the park is fine. Inferno and Phill Pritchard
0 Benin
There's still time for Saw Alive to be taken away by the flooding though right? Jammy3112, Gggggggg, FrightNights04 and 6 others

http://uk.screen.yahoo.com/thorpe-park-surrounded-water-floods-142025892.html Maybe it's just the angle the video is taken, but does Saw Alive's queue line look flooded there? Just goes to show how bad the surrounding area is though...
0 Fred
Nope, that's the concrete you're looking at. Unsure why they'd think a lake would flood. It's not a river, it doesn't have a billion load of water coming from miles around going to it. The only water in there is the rain that's landed in it or the extreme local area. Of course it's not gonna flood.
0 Ricky
As I don't believe you live in the immediate area I'm sure your unaware of the situation we, who live around the park are in, it's not a case of 'the water that lands on it ' it's the water that's now got nowhere to go so is coming up through the ground instead draining down. Many drains around my village have been spewing up water for weeks now due to how waterlogged the soil is. FrightNights04
0 Fred
No, I understand that. But nothing substantial drains into the lake, so the lake levels won't rise. Drains spewing into the streets because the sewers and underground drainage system is full. That's the difference, it's a big difference. Otherwise the lake would've been the first thing to flood. 0 James_C
The lake has certainly risen...we drove past yesterday and its almost road level. We thought as well at one point it had spilled onto the road...may be mistaken though.
0 Benin
I think someone from Thorpe's PR team might be getting a talking to, given that they've promoted Tidal Wave in their latest post...
0 Dan9
Look at Fish go! *insert joke about Flying Fish being the only ride able to run in a flood* The lake level is rising, it's pretty much level with Staines Road at the moment. And in the video JoshC posted you can sort of see the lake rising above the grass banks next to the Vortex and Zodiac plaza. Nothing too bad yet though. 0 FrightNights04
I heard that Colossus track is partly underwater. Also, the surrounding lakes are a lot higher than usual.

0 pluk
Does Saw Alive still float, or is it fixed? It looks incredibly low to me, but it could be because the bottom of the boat is painted black and the picture is not great.
0 Ricky
I believe it sits on concrete stilts due to damage to the lower parts of the boat, either way it won't float away it's chained to the banks Gggggggg
0 Coaster
Does anyone else think that Thorpe won't be able to open in five weeks? I know the park isn't flooded, but if nobody can get to it then I can't see any possible way of it opening.
0 JoshC.
You can (probably) get diverted to go through Chertsey if the roads are still inaccessible Staines way. If Thorpe remain largely unaffected, they'll still open
0 Inferno
5 weeks is still a long time. Even if a lot of property is still seriously damaged the roads are bound to be clear by then, surely. The rain can't continue much more... Can it????
0 James_C
But its more the fact that the ground is soo saturated. I dont think it will affect the opening or running of the park...but maybe access roads to the park.
0 Coaster
Thorpe posted on their FB page today that their AP building is open tomorrow, so there must still be some sort of viable access to the park.
