Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon

The general public's reaction to this thing has been immense - its not very often guests in the UK will break out into applause at the end of a ride but they really do seem to be loving it.

I always thought a large scale dark ride would be a gamble for which ever Merlin park took it on but am delighted it seems to be getting such high praise from the GP.

I'm on park today and staff are saying it's planned to open for rehearsals again today

It would be great if you could let us know - hoping to go this week if it is planned to open :-)

Their social media accounts are ademant that it will not be in operation - however the resort may change their mind at any point during the day :)

As far as I'm aware that has been happening all weekend, they even have a sign at the turnstiles saying it will be unavailable that has been there over the weekend

The resort have been saying that the attraction is open on their social media pages over the weekend, however stating it will be 'subject to avalibility' :)

Fingers crossed it opens!

EDIT

Unfortuntely it looks unlikely to open this week at all, with the social team stating the attraction will not be in operation over the next week.

There did seem to be a lot of problems at the weekend. When we were on it quite a few headsets didn't work and we had to wait much longer than normal at one point. The group before us had to evacuate then go again, then it closed just afterwards. It's definitely not smooth sailing so far.

On the plus side a man in the queue showed me a photo he took a few weeks ago of Smiler hitting a bird, was quite spectacular!

This image? You remember the image leaked in the tech mag about a month ago.... why does the interior look so sparse in comparison.

Do you know who took the picture? Was a t leaked as in a camera was sneaked in or was it allowed but put online early? Surprised they didn't have a tie in with LU and had them sponsor it so the workers have London Underground rather than just Underground.

It has been open today despite what their social media team said.  Went on it earlier certainly something different and brilliant!

Thats very good to hear, although very strange that their Social Media team would be potentially putting people off from visiting by saying its not opening?!

I think they're trying to temper expectations. If they say it's shut and it opens, that's a nice bonus. If they say it's open then it shuts all day, people will complain.
