March 23, 20169 yr Author comment_230298 What a strange and slightly disappointing place to put a queue shop. Still excited but things like the garish brown exposed shed, shop & poor paving need to be considered when weighing the end result. The for the avoidance of any doubt the queue line shop isn't going to sit in the middle of no where un themed please stop panicking!
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230301 What IS weird about that shop is that the queue only passes by it once, rather than twice on most new rides that have had them built... Just a weird choice given history is all...

Just a weird choice given history is all... Unless my memory is failing me, I'm pretty sure that you only pass Swarm and Saw's queue line shops once (same for Inferno and Colossus too)? So I don't think it's something which has quite 'caught on' at Thorpe.
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230304 You pass swarms queue line shop twice as long as the main queue extension is open, otherwise you only pass it once.
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230305 Ah yes, I remember now. It's been a while since I've had to use that main queue extension
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230306 Just pointing out that this queue line retail unit, looks so out of place, could've been better themed imo, its not even that accessible from said queue? I'm pretty much certain that the unfenced section leading up to the shop will be part of the q line and therefore more accessible. If not then yes, a very odd location to place it.
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230307 With Alton queue line shops being changed to vending machines I'm surprised to see a shop at all. Machines make more sense to me in a queue as they can be open regardless of how by it is, have no staffing costs and sell the same stuff anyway.
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230308 Thought Towers always had problems with the vending machines, especially around Oblivion... Of course, might be done to staff cuts...
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230317 As far as I'm aware most ride shops only have one entrance Colossus's one does, Saw's does, Swarm's does too I think. Atlantis, Fury & Vampires are also one entrance only too. As far as I'm aware most of Tower's shops have closed/been replaced by vending this year due to cuts. In addition, Rita's shop has closed, Oblivion's appears to have closed & not yo mention Galactica's is now considerably smaller (but that was expected).

I think people are talking about the retail units in the queuelines
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230320 Fury's queue shop has two sides anyway, since its accessible (or was last time I went) from outside the queueline... The retrofitted ones tend to only be one point of contact, built in ones have two, its a decent enough idea and one of Merlin's better ones...
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230321 To those upset about Derren's shed, it could be worse, could be Harry Potter at Uni Studios Hollywood... EDIT: Derren Brown merch on Thorpe's snapchat story right now!
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230322 It looks like that shop might get its own little queue line that shoots off from the main line, a little like the Smiler. That way it doesn't hold up the main queue while people are buying things.
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230323 Isn't that the Tokyo Potter? Since Hollywood isn't open yet? Of course, it's no excuse for ANY park to have obvious sheds... I dunno why people think that saying "X park does it" is acceptable...

I dunno why people think that saying "X park does it" is acceptable... Hollywood's soft opening at the moment I believe. No it's definitely not an excuse, just showing it's not just a Merlin thing to those that may think it is
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230327 Sorry for the terrible quality, it's from Thorpe's sc. A nice few pictures of DBGT merch tho. I spy a mug in one of these, may have to make a purchase [emoji317][emoji317] EDIT: And a few more pics EDIT 2: Sorry another edit but Thorpe posted this on Instagram with another load of images
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230328 I don't spy a to scale Derren Brown resin figurine. Much disappointment.
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230336 Oh damn bears, damn damn bears... I saw one of those levitating things in a laptop shop, looks cool though must say... Merlin do know merch...
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230341 That levitating carriage has me interested. Might buy that. So far, everything is looking very good as a whole and I hope that the ride is great and really feels unique.
March 24, 20169 yr comment_230347 I bet my money that the Derren brown gift shop will open tomorrow Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if it is! It's a way to get more money and more awareness of the ride.
March 25, 20169 yr comment_230351 With the 12p tickets, can I check where you put the promotional code/ details. Anyone else trying for them?
March 25, 20169 yr comment_230352 I think you just put it on the 12p page as it does say "come back here on 25 march"
