June 24, 20196 yr Author comment_265049 India - 14 year old boy dies after being 'caught in the wheels of a roller coaster ride', oddly and slightly graphically worded article. Not clear what the ride actually was, but I'm thinking it was really a round ride of some sort from the description of mechanics of injury. India (again) - The worlds crappiest looking drop towers has a moment of uncharacteristic excitement when 'ropes' (possibly quite literally ropes, and not just a poor translation) snapped sending a gondola crashing to the ground injuring 12. The park involved has shut indefinitely. Probably for the best.

And if not maintained properly, or used too often or whatever, they will snap just like any other rope. Though tbf, if it's a cheap / knock off ride, they could quite literally just be 'strong' ropes. An incident at a fairground in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, where a girl fell out of a pendulum-style ride: (incident around 50s) The fairground didn't have appropriate permission to run, nor did they go through proper safety set ups / checks. Haven't found any word about the condition of the person.

Just depends on who you speak to. I guess since rides use cables and not ropes, there's not really any confusion So yeah, technical term would be cables, but it's not uncommon to hear them called ropes

July 1, 20196 yr comment_265132 Bleeding heck! You don't have to have a degree in mechanical engineering to see that the main arm on that ride isn't going to last long. Just surprised it lasted as long as it did. Tom.
July 15, 20196 yr comment_265323 Looks like the same (if not similar) to the other one that happened... Even down to the failure point...
July 15, 20196 yr comment_265325 All of these accidents are honestly dreadful. The pendulum/after burner ride accidents seem to all be a result of buying poor quality models and not being operated and maintained safely enough. There seems to have been a lot of ride accidents in the last few years, however I put that down to the likes of social media and phone ownership increasing significantly as opposed to more accidents actually happening.
July 16, 20196 yr comment_265362 Another article, with a closer look at the seats: http://www.attractionsmanagement.com/index.cfm?pagetype=news&codeID=342466 Certainly appears to be from a non-major manufacturer.
July 19, 20196 yr Author comment_265415 America - 9 year old boy receives head injuries when two rides collide. He was a spectator hit by flying debris, does not appear any riders were injured. Appears they have simply built a pirate ship and a freak out too close to each other, so when both swing they encroach on each others space. Amazingly dumb.
July 20, 20196 yr Author comment_265433 America (strangely Illinois again) - Woman receives minor injury when she falls from coaster. Appears the rear car has ejected her when it derailed due to a gap opening up in the track join, visible in this pic. Looks like a 'knocked up in a shed' coaster to me.
August 20, 20196 yr comment_265961 Could have been disastrous! But thankfully no one hurt from the looks of it but something quite serious looking has happened to the chain on Wodan whilst it was loaded. See pic below from EP&CO on Facebook. It seems the chain snapped at the top and then hurled down the track towards the train.
August 20, 20196 yr comment_265966 Damn I hope that one gets logged as a near miss! Honestly only luck was involved in no one getting hurt. 3 hours ago, JoshC. said: Wouldn't happen at Europa Pa- Oh wait It wouldn't have happened if it was a Mack Rides coaster. 😛
August 20, 20196 yr comment_265967 In true Europa Park fashion, there is already a crane on-site this evening.

August 20, 20196 yr comment_265969 Regardless how long it takes, the repair will likely be quick and efficient. Europa are one of the best for getting things done swiftly. Just a relief no-one was hurt.
August 21, 20196 yr comment_265974 Incredible. Less than 24 hours since this incident and its already testing! Edit - and the ride reopened around 12:30pm!

August 21, 20196 yr comment_265980 Another example of how well Europa Park deal with setbacks!! No compromising, no hitting the panic button and no excuses. Just getting on with it and getting the job done. Hats off to them!!
