What’s amusing is Legoland claim the 6 rides they did get on is more than most visitors get in a day, that’s what £570 gets you.
September 7, 20177 yr comment_252462 Least there was one sensible commenter... Perhaps if the angle was "HOLY CRAP WE SPENT HOW MUCH?!" then I might have sympathy, instead it truly is "Man is an idiot" instead... £60 on the gate for Legoland is disgusting mind...
September 8, 20177 yr comment_252497 To be fair, if you're doing a ride per hour, plus an hour for lunch, then going to Miniland and watching shows combined with general faff, people only doing 6 rides in a day isn't outside the realms of possibility... Still a stupid thing to mention though...
September 9, 20177 yr comment_252501 The Merlin parks will calculate a 'Rides per Guest' number. This is done rather crudely, by taking the total number of people who have been on the rides and dividing it by the number of people on park. Legoland will have quite a small RpG number for many reasons. They have live shows, play areas, meet and greets and Miniland - all things which aren't included in RpG numbers - which a lot of kids will want to spend a fair amount of time in. They also get a lot of babies visit, who naturally can't do much, which pulls the average down. Quite a few rides don't have big throughputs which doesn't help either. People alao take a long time to eat too. And you'll probably get quite a few parents who decide to skip it on rides to take photos as well. All of those things drag the number down. The average RpG numbers for all the Merlin parks (and probably every park worldwide if they do it) would be lower than you expect. Enthusiasts tend to forget how much your average guest will dawdle, spend time not riding things, etc. I genuinely expect Legoland's RpG number to be between 4 and 5. For Legoland to use it publicly as a way to say someone rode more than the average number of rides is silly though. It's a simple, slightly crude, way of internally figuring out how many rides people are getting on average to keep a tab on ridership. Hopefully not too many pick up on it, else they've shot themselves in the foot. Totally agree with the bloke that 30 minute wait times are ridiculous when you've purchased something giving "near instant" ride access mind.
September 9, 20177 yr comment_252502 I bet that 30 min wait is down to other Qbot users joint the queue before their time is up. Some hosts seem to hold the whole queue up and wait for that persons Qbot / mobile to be scannable which is unfair on the others who have joined at the right time. And then of course you get others who don’t understand instead of waiting the 59min wait in the Qbot line you could be using those 59mins to queue up for something else and then come to Qbot ride when time is up.
September 11, 20177 yr comment_252540 I'm just so glad it's going to be years before Legoland Windsor add anything worth my time because I got anxiety just reading that article.
October 17, 20177 yr comment_253442 Since we don't have a general Legoland thread, I'll stick this here... Merlin revealed today that they've signed a deal for the Lego parks to each get a 'LEGO Movie Land', starting from 2019, which coincides with the release of the new film. With Windsor meant to be getting something big in 2019, I guess it's possible that whatever the new thing for 2019 is, it could help form the first Movie Land for a Lego park...
October 17, 20177 yr comment_253444 It will be interesting to see what each area gets and where they put them. My guess could be around the Lego City area, and judging from the pictures, it looks like Splash Battle attraction and drop tower could be in the plans. Could be a successful addition to the parks.
October 18, 20177 yr comment_253454 Flying Theatre would be interesting, I'd assume like the one at Ferrari Land... One would hope an indoor cred would be ideal for such an area as well...
October 18, 20177 yr comment_253459 With the rumour of CCL being rethemed at Towers for 2019 as well, and a strong rumour being for it to become Lego themed, Lego Movie Land? Would work as its own area, they have a dark ride building that could be repurposed, an unused 4D cinema, some cars etc.

January 26, 20187 yr comment_255546 Legoland are getting a new 4D film this year, themed around Ninjago, along with some Ninjago themed rooms. There's also going to be some American themed Miniland stuff. All in all, a decent quiet year for the park in my books.
January 26, 20187 yr comment_255551 all in all seems like this is the right way to do a low investment year, if only the other merlin parks took note
January 27, 20187 yr comment_255579 These new additions will go nicely along with the Miniland World, USA and Coral Reef attractions they are also installing for the 2018 season. Legoland’s Webpage has all the details.
January 28, 20187 yr comment_255600 https://www.looopings.nl/weblog/9438/Legoland-ontslaat-bouwers-van-Lego-miniaturen.html these updates are all well and good, but the model makers are without jobs soon
March 5, 20187 yr comment_256310 Legoland have recently released their 2018 season map. From Theme Park Guide. Whilst it’s supposedly a low investment year, something becomes particularly noticeable. Not only is the path from Lego City to Adventure Land missing, but so is the Heartlake Express. Does this mean the removal of the once iconic train or temporary closure for possible construction work? Also Olivias House and Space Tower have disappeared, with the later confirmed as leaving.

Like how CCR closed while SAW was being built.
March 15, 20187 yr comment_256604 Legoland have applied for changes in the 'Ghost' attraction which was originally planned. This will mean we shall hopefully see an opening in 2019 of a madhouse style attraction instead of a drop tower. I've dropped a couple of screenshots from the planning permission for all you lazy people out there.
March 15, 20187 yr comment_256607 The drop tower portion was easily the worst part of Billund's Ghost so I'd be intrigued to see what they could pull off with a madhouse, can't be worse right? It's just a shame I'd have to visit Legoland Windsor again...
March 15, 20187 yr comment_256609 I guess it's not that surprising to see Merlin stray away from the mini drop tower rides following the issues they've had in recent years. But gutted we won't get them though. Equally, a madhouse style fits Legoland Windsor a bit more I reckon, and has the potential to be so much fun. So fingers crossed it comes to fruition.
March 15, 20187 yr comment_256615 Looks good and seems a logical move to switch the drop towers for ‘presumably’ a Madhouse style ride system. Lets hope this actually goes ahead now following all the kerfuffle over the original system. I guess this this is more akin to a juniorised Hex than Mystery Castle now.
March 15, 20187 yr comment_256616 Definitely a Madhouse, LOOK AT THE PLANS! Good shout, will be the highest throughput in the park too... Do wish the warehouse wasn't so bloody obvious though and there was at least some looking into how better to hide it through location, rather than a simple plonk in the middle of the park...
March 15, 20187 yr comment_256618 There are plenty better locations than this for the attraction. Year on year Legoland loses its lush setting and any respite between the loud/crowded areas by building over every single landscaped patch possible. There will soon be no transition, just big attractions squashed in next to each other. That area by the driving school is already extremely crowded. The train also runs right behind the warehouse. Very typically cheap of Merlin to just leave the rear end exposed too – Legoland didn't do that with the Dragon castle 20 years ago and that was when the park was much smaller.
