ben199
I personally thought that was quite an enjoyable read. At least it didn't go into the usual "On June 2nd...." spiel towards the end but you're right, it's definitely not news
Matt 236
A squirrel in a theme park bin making headlines? That's a bit of an exaggeration. Pardon my dust whilst I narrowly avoid walking into this puddle. Must be a slow news day.
SteveJ
Why does everyone keep posting tabloid articles on the forum? The reason they post such trash is because they know people will go and click on their links anyway so you're just playing their game. Coaster
I actually saw a squirrel jumping into a bin at Towers last week - shame I didn't report it really, didn't realise it was news worthy! Ryan B, stretchy and CharlieN
Ryan B
Don't see a news article about the squirrel who rode spinball... EDIT: Actually, I do! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/7238666/Squirrel-banned-from-riding-rollercoaster.html
L7123456
Another more interesting article: http://m.stokesentinel.co.uk/Alton-Towers-honour-UK-astronaut-Major-Tim-Peake/story-29376775-detail/story.html Tim Peake has been given freedom of the park and a personalised virtual realty headset from Alton. CharlieN
Guys, the reason that DBGT isn't opening on time is due to Merlin exhausting their budget on Tim's personalised headset...

holtjammy16
Is the park usually busy at this time of the year? Planning to go at the beginning of July before school holidays start, then realised it's school trip season Is Alton usually as busy with school trips as Thorpe? Yup the park is getting busier at weekends this time of year. During the week it is still quiet-ish. But even when it is busy you will still get a reasonable ride count. I haven't seen Nemesis over 30 minute in queue time all year yet (but it churns through people). holtjammy16

Stretch probably knows better than I do but given schools break up around the 20th and it's the beginning of the summer holidays, I'd say it's abysmal - although I'm not sure what attendance has been like this year as hasn't it been down because of the Smiler events? Why did I think this was in the Alton Towers topic? Sorry, my mistake! Chessie has been INCREDIBLY busy as far as I'm aware this season. Looking at the calendar, the 22nd of July is the date public schools break up (the Friday) and it's very, very unlikely school's have school trips on the last day of term, however, you may need to also factor in that some school's may have an inset day too. Generally I'd put it off till the Tuesday after as they are generally quieter throughout the year.

Anyway all these things would still apply except Alton at least has better throughputs and more likely to be quieter given the Smiler events. stretchy
Alex, even though seems a amusingly confused today, is perfectly correct about July. Busy with school trips before the last day of term. Busy with uni students and holiday makers after that day. yeah and alexander
holtjammy16
Was just thinking.. Wouldn't the valley be the perfect place for a mack coaster similar to helix? With the terrain and everything (makes a wish)
Benin
Yes, but the odds on being allowed to build in the valley are so unlikely... It's one of the reasons why the woodie barely breaks into the woodland...
