August 3, 201312 yr comment_164657 Only 4 days too late, and the advert is still all over the tele. I'm not surprised over the advert still being on TV tbh, I imagine that advertising schedules are pretty much set in stone weeks in advance, and that it would be pretty difficult to remove an ad from TV unless it got banned.
August 3, 201312 yr comment_164658 It is very easy to change a TV ad within hours. The slot might be booked, and the channels charge for the trouble, but the ad can and should be changed to generic AT or other Merlin.
August 3, 201312 yr comment_164662 I just wanna know what the problem is this time! I mean it can't just be a regular breakdown if its been closed for the last couple of days!
August 3, 201312 yr comment_164665 Smiler was closed again today but here's a couple of photos of the new netting: Also, in a worrying way, the overflow queue has been removed and is now here. Is this a sign that the smiler isn't going to open any time soon?
August 3, 201312 yr comment_164687 Doesn't look like it is going to open tomorrow because it wasn't testing at all today and still waiting for a new part apparently.
August 4, 201312 yr comment_164703 Problem is with testing it during opening hours is that they would be descended upon, so they MIGHT tested it after the park closed (something I heard in the hotel last night)... There were trains on the track with dummies on engineers wandering around it for a little bit before going away... I think the obvious one is the extended queue not being out is an indicator more than anything... Will see in a few hours... Though my friends have ended up getting 3 days at Towers for £28 as a result... Silver linings and all that...
August 4, 201312 yr comment_164706 One of my friends is there today and The Smiler will open at 10 AM let everyone know. I am now going on 14th August back up to Towers luckily I got 14th and 15th off work hopefully I will be smiling that day.

August 4, 201312 yr comment_164720 Ride Times is now saying its closed again..... Is the smiler ever open?
August 4, 201312 yr comment_164721 I never imagined saying this but... Have we finally found something as unreliable as slammer?!
August 4, 201312 yr comment_164722 Cracks at the footers? The Mirror today. So The Smiler well and truly is a cracking ride!
August 4, 201312 yr comment_164729 I am booking my train on the day before I go to Towers a week Wed so I know I have more of a chance to go on it taking my brother with me too
August 4, 201312 yr comment_164730 Fingers crossed it's open tomorrow. I'm heading up there and wasn't aware this was all going on. Booked a ticket for my friend via MAP's friends and family thing on thursday which is non-transferable and was no mention of any trouble with the Smiler. I hate to be 'that guy' but I will complain if it's closed tomorrow. It's a long way to travel and for booking non-transferable tickets with no info on their website/over the phone, it's not fair, especially as they're still advertising it. Should I really need to check a forum every time I plan to visit to see if there are any ongoing problems?Yes, the terms and conditions or whatever state that ride availability cannot be guaranteed on the day (and it's understandable with unforeseen breakdowns etc) but with ongoing problems, it's not difficult to mention it over the phone or put up a clear message on the site! /endrant
August 4, 201312 yr comment_164732 If by any chance it isn't open ask for Fastrack tickets as I thought I wouldn't been able to of gone this year to Towers and they gave me x5 Fastracks even though I got a Merlin Annual Pass. Just hope it is open for the 14th August
August 4, 201312 yr comment_164743 Rode it twice today... C'est la vie... Queue got evac'd and it naturally spilled into the park... You'll get some form of compensation if shut...
August 5, 201312 yr comment_164825 The Smiler is open with the longest queue in the park of 30minutes. not bad
