Just found this on Youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPD4CAa61V0It's labelled as 1980s but the Vampire opened in 1990 of course Very interesting footage - including a bit of the 5th Dimension. The Runaway Mine Train is noticably faster, and it's amazing how exposed the Vampire looks compared to how integral it looks now, 21 years on! Also shown is Dragon Falls, and you can see they have the "year" sign on the drop so that it shows in the photo - remember those days?

Took a trip up to Alton Towers yesterday and was very impressed by Mutiny Bay.Battle GalleonsYou certainly do get drenched (similar wetness as Tidal Wave) on Battle Galleons, but the ride itself is fantastic. The theming is top notch and the layout of the track is well designed to soak other boats and innocent spectators! The ride also uses fresh water, slyly put into the boat every time it docks. The only down point to the ride, is that the targets around the course appeared to do very little. At the end of the day however, why shoot targets when you can shoot people!Heave HoThis is another good addition to Mutiny Bay. Very similar to Chessington's Griffins Galleon, it ha…

Broadditch Farm plays host to an array of seasonal events. It is best known, however, for its amazing Halloween Event, Broadwitch Hauntfest. Nominated on numerous occasions for Screamie Awards, this humble farm near Bluewater, Kent is seriously making a name for itself in the Scare Industry.2010's Spooky Castle was arguably the best Scare Attraction in the UK, with amazing attention to detail in set, props, actors and their make-up. Michael Bolton- respected figure within the scare industry and also the man behind Scare Tour, stated that Spooky Castle was his personal favourite Scare Attraction of 2010, calling it, "perfect". As well as four, unique, intense "haunts" …

As I personally think these individual events at our favourite theme parks don't get enough attention or discussion (as its not all about the rides) I thought I would create this to put all these mini events held throughout the year in one place rather than loads if mini topics that disappear into Oblivion (Scuse the pun) The next event at Alton Towers is ALton Towers live which has quite a lot of artists for a theme park standard and the concert is 8 hours long - I myself am really looking forward to it. The artists don't get me wrong are not outstanding but they are a lot of the current artists we hear in the charts nowadays. And hope that more of these come in the f…

I dont know if this has been answered anywhere else but in quite a few of chessies old maps there is a tiny mark next to Black Buccanear saying Peg Leg Pete, who was this Pete and did he have a story around him. I am guessing its like the Dragon outside dragons Fury that lived around Dragon Falls for a while. Is Pete still at the park??

I was wondering if anybody else could remember the old Virtual Reality Theatre that was at Chessington in the early 2000's?I remember on one visit with my family and Girlfriend (now Wife) we gave this new attraction in Mexicana a go. It consisted of a number of large seats arranged in rows facing out into the park and you had to pay to use the attraction. The attraction basically involved a number of members of the public making fools of themselves for the entertainment of nearby spectators. With the 'players' wearing immersive VR goggles they were kind of cut off from the outside world and it was very easy to caught up in the game and forget that you were in full show to …

We have the New for 2016 topic but no Pandamonium topic. The show was great when we went, even if Buddie should have done more. Sent from my SM-G361F using Tapatalk

Sorry, but I need to have a rant and rave on this. Last week I went up to London for the day. I went to the Science Museum to find that attractions that I am waiting to see are still closed and may never re-open.Firstly, level 2 of the "launch pad" has been closed since about November last year. It was called digitopolis and is being refurbished. It was meant to open about April this year. Nothing has happened in almost a year. They have taken everything out of the floor, taken the "box sign" down that was hung up and lit. Why change this? This was fascinating, yet useful and knowledgable for kids!Secondly, the Food For Thought exhibition has been closed since the summer …

Extraordinary Golf at Alton Towers was a fantastic addition to the park back in 2007. I love it, and this is certainly one of the best-themed courses I've ever played on. I generally like mini golf.Which is your favourite hole? I'm still trying to decide. :PDiscuss Extraordinary Golf here.

Note: I intend to keep editing this post as time goes on and more years are released. Hi guys. During the coaster consultations in 2021, Merlin released an attendance graph showing all their parks' attendance figures since the early 1980s. I had some time on my hands yesterday evening and decided to try and extrapolate some slightly more precise guest figures for each park from this graph to try and determine the precise(ish) attendance trajectory of each UK Merlin park from the earliest year listed here (1984 for Alton Towers and Chessington, 1983 for Thorpe Park, 1987 for Windsor Safari Park and 1997 for Legoland Windsor). For some idea, this is the ori…

So their new Twister (crazy mouse) ride is open, was supposed to be open back in May, but I think it only just opened end of last month! So found this video off ride, and they're building wooden barriers around the ride, while the ride is open, surely that's safe right!? And I wonder if it's actually going to be themeing, or if they're doing what they probably had to do to the other big rides to block the sound of screaming for the locals.

Today, I went to Beaulieu Motor Museum for the first time in about 15 years. I really enjoyed it. I love how the monorail goes through the museum!I went on the ride Wheels, all about cars through the years. It's not how I remember it as far as scenes go, yet it's still a classic. It smelt really funny in there, a bit like rubber. Nice smell, but it was nice to get away from it after a while.

Whenever I go to Alton Towers, I go for 3 nights and can't stay in every single night, so I end up going out somewhere. Some good places include: The Bull's Head, Alton Village - great food and drink, and friendly locals who remember me every time I go back! The Star, Cotton - only been here once, it's an OK pub. The Old Swan, Wetherspoon, Uttoxeter - although not the liveliest Spoon's, it'll do for me. The Master Potter, Cheadle - a nice big pub, only been here once. Uttoxeter is a very basic town with not much to offer (especially at night), but it's handy for Tesco on the outskirts. A trip is never complete without popping into Bargain Booze for a deal, and then a…

Big news from Chessie then. https://www.cwoa-consultation.com/ TL;DR Wild Asia to be rethemed with a new coaster. Kobra survives. The Glamping binned off too as seemingly only on temp permission anyway. Mexican (but not Rattlesnake) killed off for a land akin to CBeebies. Other stuff like Lodges (when did that happen) and Water Park are on-going.

Hi guys. I have very exciting news for you all this afternoon! According to Attraction Source, Chessington is holding a public exhibition showing off a “new attraction” on Wednesday 16th November: https://www.facebook.com/213894828494/posts/pfbid0298cGVxYnMfoovWQpQqqzfcgNkxuW9Scqmez8dJMMRmGj1QR8X29epFeWzG3AXCdjl/ Little else is known other than that, but details will apparently be revealed on the 16th, and there will be a public consultation period running until the 30th. Isn’t this exciting? I wonder what it could be; I’ll admit that I wasn’t expecting another major investment at Chessington so soon after Jumanji, but I guess it would make sense…
