  1. Darren Brown sounds better, I like Darren. Then Thorpe wouldn't have to had to paid Derren all that cash... free IP! The spare money could have been spent on fright nights or a new coaster....

    Flamingo Land

"Pretty much"? Between the plans and that advertising, I'd love to know how much more confirmation you'd need for it to be 100% confirmed

Pretty much confirmed now that they are building a Colossus clone.

  4. Agreed. If the attraction used physical sets and scares that weren't just through a VR lens then that would radically make this thing more fun. I think what makes this thing so un reridable is that all the scares in the VR section are always gonna be the same thing, if you have rode this ride then you know exactly whats gonna happen and when its going to happen, ruining any tension or fear to be had. Scare mazes are lucky in a sense with actors being variables. Actors tend to make every run through different and interesting, something that the Ghost Train lacks IMO.

  5. I was at Thorpe yesterday, and the loggers station has been extended loads out the back and the inside looked completely empty. Also the dome has some brickwork theming - probably where the new show will be...

    Slammer

They're doing one count better than Chessington then, which still hasnt got a new coaster after 15 years! I may discover whether it's abysmal or not but I feel more inclined to go visit parks like that than most UK parks at the moment. All down to value for money. It was a bumper year for the park, but then why have all their other IP attempts at Thorpe since been such big flops? The entire park was in a different situation. They're now feeling the pinch after years of too much focus on short fads instead of long term redevelopment and improvement. On the subject of IPs. Merlin have just tried to suggest in their interim results that its Legoland performances have been disappointing because the Lego Movie 2 didnt bring in the extra guests expected. But they'll still build more and more Lego Movie attractions anyway, becoming even more reliant on the performance of other media rather than build the quality of their own parks. IP popularity can be used to boost parks in the short term but overusing it like Merlin do will just come back to bite you.

  9. Seeing those old maze photos has made me sad. I'm off to go melt some pop badges.

  10. So... I went on this for the first time on Friday and was simply astonished by it. Astonished that somebody, somewhere, signed off a huge sum of money to build this. I went into this with an open mind and not knowing what to expect, but it was quite simply, terrible. I believe that the ride has already been here for a couple of years, I can't see any way that this thing lasts longer than maybe another couple, even with enhancements and changes, the concept is just poor. They'd be better off ripping down whats inside and making this into a scare-maze.

    2019 Season

The other issue on top of that is some disabled people will require two people to transfer for whatever reason... 3 is an ok number of accompanying carers, but it needs to be flat out adhered too...

I am fully aware of that. I work with children with all sorts of physical and mental disabilities. Unfortunately a lot of people using the RAP system in the UK are people with 'disabilities' that do not require them to be unable to stand in a normal queue. The pass is supposed to allow you to skip the queue, but still have to wait the equivalent of the queue time, however many staff don't bother with that aspect of it meaning they can just go and queue for another ride. We actually witnessed a situation on the AT meet where a parent got angry as the staff member wrote the time 60 mins later on his sons RAP sheet and he started going off on one about how his son won't be able to cope, clearly not understanding it wasn't a fast track ticket but merely a means of his son not having to stand in a physical queue.

  13. The inconsistency irks me at Thorpe - it’s like they can’t be bothered to complete a job or do it properly so it ends up half arsed - a few years ago some of the fencing on Colossus was painted - but only one side - do they think people are blind. It just doesn’t come across great - like Infernos exit - either paint it or don’t. Anyone got any idea how long Loggers will be left rotting for? Can’t see Thorpe getting a coaster for at least a couple of years but I might be wrong. Whilst I agree that money should be spent on operational rides, I wish they’d sort out Slammer - it’s just sitting there doing nothing and has been for 2 years - fine if you never knew it was there but they just chuck a sign up for TWD Living Nightmare instead. And god I hate those bamboo fencing panels. “Well here’s a ride that isn’t open anymore, let’s disguise it with some flimsy crap bamboo” - it feels cheap - maybe I’m being harsh
