Thorpe: the redheaded step-child of the Merlin family since 2016. Getting new screens and maybe a bench if we're lucky?

Slightly off topic although I would like it to be an improvement for 2020!
Having experimented with one of these a few days ago for the first time with someone it isn't that that Is that issue! The problem is the staff not utilising it properly.
At one ride (inferno) the person wrote the actual queue time down for us not to reuse it again in that time.
On nine seperate rides (some the same) the staff member just looked at the card and waved us through telling us not to worry about having it filled in.
On the rest they just wrote about 20 mins or half the actual advertised queue time down.
If it was utilised properly there wouldn't be masses of people in the lines for RAP as they'd have to wait in the park somewhere or join actual main queue for rides with smaller queues.
There were several occasions where up to 8 people were trying to get on rides with one RAP holder. This they were a bit stricter with when I saw but wouldn't have been all rides I'm sure!
When people were confronted at Inferno for being there too early as they had another 20 mins left on the sheet, the staff member suffered abuse as he was doing it properly. The member of public wasnt happy as no one else had stopped him.
Hopefully going forward into 2020 staff become stricter or utilise a better system

Can't believe the Saudi Arabian Gov wanted to buy Alpen Hotel so badly. Was always a highlight of winter wonderland but damn, they must have really wanted it.

Thorpe open hours are probably the best we have in the UK? Granted some of the 8pm’s in the summer were cut but still overall they are much better than other merlin parks.

Stuntman707 got a reaction from Coaster in Rainforest Area
Chessington seem to specialise in low capacity attractions now. If I were being cynical I’d say it’s done on purpose to boost Fastrack sales. I remember once going on the Scorpion on a quiet day and getting on before the people in the RAPs / Fastrack queue!

Stuntman707 got a reaction from Jack in Tulley's Shocktober Fest Scream Park
I agree. Did Wastelands 3 times at the weekend. Without a doubt the best scare maze I've ever done.
I'd recommend boots or wellies especially for The Wreckoning.
My review will be incoming soon.

After a revisit I can confirm that wastelands is now the best attraction at tulleys and is also probably one of the best all-time tulleys attractions.
As much as it doesn’t scare me, chop shop was filled with actors which was great and made it a lot more enjoyable. Everything else was much the same. The event is really, REALLY strong this year

Stuntman707 reacted to BritishThemeParkArch in The Curse at Alton Manor - NEW for 2023
Hi all, if you're interested in the original Haunted House:
I'm doing a Kickstarter campaign to realistically recreate lost scenes from the Haunted House (and two Chessington rides), as part of an upcoming book about attraction designer Keith Sparks and the Sparks studios. More about the book in the video on the Kickstarter page.
After exhausting every lead, I traced most the finished Haunted House ride photos to a fire that destroyed most the Sparks archive some years ago. However hundreds of production records, flash photos, workshop pictures and videotapes did surface, meaning we now have reference for almost every detail in the original ride. This is special because the Haunted House was changed a lot within just 2-3 weeks of opening in 1992 (not many know about this because it was changed so fast). We even found outtakes from when the ride was photographed but not the full lighting pictures. Matching the material with technical layouts, it's now possible to recreate the missing scenes with 3D modelling and digital lighting. The renders will appear alongside any surviving real photos and be checked by the original lighting designers. If you've seen something like Virtual Towers Online you'll see how realistic this can look. So why let a fire keep a piece of British theme park history lost forever?! By funding this Kickstarter we can record these classic attractions to complete the book on Sparks. Any further volunteers will also be extremely welcome! We need to beat the target to get the funds, otherwise no donations will go ahead and the recreation project will have to be called off. The book should be ready summer next year but the plan is you wont have to buy the book to see the recreations.
Thanks for reading! I can answer any questions. -

Stealth was outstanding today. No queue at all but they were still storming the dispatches. I didn't see a moment's down time or delay.
Repeat front row rides for me. That has to be the single best coater experience in the county. It's incredible and I'll never tire of it.

Quite interesting, got me thinking about the Merlin rides where I've been happy enough to run around and ride again;
- Duel
- Nemesis
- Oblivion
- Vampire
- Dragon's Fury
- Swarm
- Stealth
- Inferno
I always have the most fun at a park when the queues are low enough to do that on one of those rides. Most I've done is seven times on Nemesis. Had an awesome one-off time on Colossus at the end of the day where we got to go round twice without leaving the station, staff were hyped up to go home. When the ride hosts are motivated it really makes the atmosphere electric and 1000x more enjoyable. For this reason the best part of the day at any Merlin park is usually the hour before closing.
