Dan_Rush Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 We already have a Tidal Wave topic, please search before hand, like it says in the damn guidelines.I was tempted to say the same thing when a new member started a thread for rumba rapids.:Pbut who am I to complain at them, I'm not an admin.does anyone have a good guess then, of when the sponsor will end? James Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 As far as I was aware, Original Source are a division of Imperial Leather, and all the Imperial Leather contracts are ending on the same date across all 3 parks? Quote
Theme Park bloke Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Imperial Leather and Original Source are both made by PZ Cussons. There may be more that belong to Cussons, but I dunno.I'm like Original Source, I'm packed with natural stuff. Quote
AltonThorpe Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Does anyone remember when the oil tanker thing used to catch fire when the wave came?? Why doesn't that happen anymore? Also why does the wave NOT hit the SPLASHZONE?? Quote
Whiteknuckle Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 I can answer part of that question. 2 reasons why wave may not make splash zone, weight of boat,(number of riders) and wind direction/strength. Quote
A-Kid Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 ^^ I'm sure the gas pipe was removed when Stealth was put in. So no more fire.Anybody remember this lovely effect??When was the last time that sign lived? Is there a reason why its off? Quote

I feel so sad, I miss the days when it was just a number LED board.oh dear Quote
James Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Okay I understand the Gas tank no longer working seeing as it has no pipes and gas prices are astronomical, but surely this not being on is just pure laziness. If the bulbs have blown, how bloody long does it take them to change a light bulb?! Quote
Theme Park bloke Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Perhaps this is an issue for Guest Services! Let's inform them of this.Has the A in Wave never worked? Does anyone remember when the oil tanker thing used to catch fire when the wave came?? Why doesn't that happen anymore? Also why does the wave NOT hit the SPLASHZONE?? Whiteknuckle correctly answered you question, but also to add, the wave does hit the Splash Zone, I've seen it hit right on target. This is on a day with no wind. Quote
James Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 I think the lights were flashing rather than solid on, so it must have just been flashed off when the photo was taken. Quote
A-Kid Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Tidals sign did something like this... Quote
James Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Ooft I like that! Would be cool to see it back. Thanks for clearing that up Quote
barley142007 Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 I think the whole "amity" tidal wave theme is awsome - however ever since stealth has been there THORPE PARK have taken the effects out like the fire from the ball. They should put it back in to increase customer experience. tidal wave is awsome! Quote
Theme Park bloke Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Rumours are floating about that the Original Source sponsorship will soon be removed from the ride. Does anyone know if this is definately happening? As for the shower gel, well Tidal Rave may have inspired me to buy it, but if the sponsorship does end, I'll still keep using it - it's good stuff! I thought the sponsership logos and objects added around the ride detracted from its original themeing, and made the ride and area seem less like a new england fishing village. I think the ride was far better when it didn't have any sponserships, and just the theming alone. Quote

limecrusha1 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 I never knew you could get so wet on a ride, of course untill I went on tidal wave!!!I adore the theming on this ride too very effective. Quote
James Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 How much did they pay you to say that?Original Source is good stuff, I use it sometimes but not specifically because its from a ride :)And its not really a rumour that the sponsership will be removed... it was only for a few years anyway. Paul Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 http://www.thorpeparkguide.com/parktour/am.../tidalwave2.jpgI love finding early photos like this, when the ride was so clean and sparkly - and the effects were working. Is that sky real? It looks awfully blue! Quote
noob230 Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 When I last went to Thorpe Park (May 10th) the section after the lift and the chute didn't have the water running which made it look really ugly.Does anyone know why? Quote
