BigBobJones
I wouldn't pin any hopes on it being replaced, planning permission would have been submitted by now and we have none... But then again if they put something in its place which is no higher or larger, then they could have this covered under the retrospective planning permission?? Something like a *cough* Top *Cough* Spin? FrightNights04

Fred
It's unreliable but still popular with guests. 5min queues when the ride can only get about 300pph? That's not popular.
pognoi
Well I'm not sure if you guys saw but today they've been dismantling some of the cables and gears on slammer. Looks like it really is going for good.

Benin
Or possibly replacing the cables and gears for new ones... Or even just starting winter maintenance and stripping the entire ride down now since it won't open this season... BigBobJones
You never know it could be that it is something wrong with the cables/gears which has caused the ride to be down all this time.... *fingers crossed*
slendercat
Look the restraints were removed yesterday but I will check on my visit on the 26th

Dodge2002
I'm not entirely sure but it looked to me like they had started to deconstruct some of the fencing around the ride. Whether this is just to make access to the site easier or not remains to be seen.
Cal
There are plastic bags over every single seat, couldn't see weather the restraints were off or not
Inferno
The restraints are currently off (or they were yesterday afternoon anyway )
InfernoMartin
Any new info about slammer is it staying or going would be good if during the closed season they take the whole thing apart and refurb everything so it could possibly last a season without closing for weeks/months
Cal
Spoke to staff today, just still awaiting a part, it's 100 percent staying though
Tom
You've probably been lied to, staff at entrances to rides do not always know the truth, they say anything to get people to go away and carry on with their day. Cal
This was at the top of loggers leap when we broke down for about 30mins haha, he was a team leader so I'm pretty sure it's legit Tom
Marc
The restraints are all taken off now and the seats covered with plastic to protect them I guess? Looking good that they've started Closed Season work early and that it will stay! Cal
Tom
Wasn't doubting it was staying, just not sure about that part! Cal

Dodge2002
Seeing as Thorpe Park themselves posted on this very thread that it was planned to be open for Fright Nights, I don't think I'd believe a word anyone says anymore, even if it were the freaking president of S&S rides. Benin
Never heard of unexpected setbacks? Of course the park would aim to get it open for Fright Nights, indeed, that's the minimum aim they should have been doing... But it's clear sommat else came up and as such has caused this ride to be once again shut for extended periods of time... Every year it gets less and less worthwhile keeping...
