September 9, 20159 yr comment_217208 Colossus really does have the worst trains at a UK merlin park and always seems to be the worst at dispatching at the park because of this. Would love to see them add some new lap bar style ones, even those of a similar style to Cinicitta World (sp) in Italy would be a big improvement. Ive always wondered whether it's possible to replace trains on an intamin coaster with Mack ones? If they could, that would be absolutely brilliant.

They were able to put B&M trains on a Morgan hyper coaster so it's not impossible!!
September 9, 20159 yr comment_217232 I would imagine installing trains from a different manufacturer would be risky business. It could potentially invalidate some form of 'warranty' from the original manufacturer, or even damage working relationships between the two parties. This could especially be the case when the original manufacturer is still very much activate. It's probably possible, but it just wouldn't happen.
September 10, 20159 yr comment_217302 Most likely Intamin wouldn't support the ride anymore and then we would end up with a slammer situation....
September 10, 20159 yr comment_217303 New trains with no OTSR would be heaven, and if no new trains. Maybe a new sponsor... Anadin would work.
September 10, 20159 yr comment_217304 Lap bars would be great just think of the airtime hills into/out of the cobra roll and the barrel rolls! Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
October 12, 20159 yr comment_220692 Quick question, when I visited back in 2013 the middle part of the train was blocked off by bars on the air gates, and I keep wondering why that is, It may have been answered before so sorry if it has. (It was running 2 trains and was walk on if that makes any difference)
October 12, 20159 yr comment_220695 Because all the bars need to be lifted every cycle, in the event that the seats aren't being filled, you can 'lock off' cars which means you don't have to lift the bars up. It's mainly 'makes life easier for the staff' thing.
October 12, 20159 yr comment_220713 If it's just one row then it can also be for exit/disabled access pass holders.
October 12, 20159 yr comment_220714 It wasn't one row though, only the front 2 and some of the back were available, but as Ricky said that were probably locked out
October 14, 20159 yr comment_220806 I think the repaint will take place most probably through the start of the season meaning it'll close for a little while and open halfway through, as well as maybe some new trains but who knows about the trains it's Thorpe after all.

December 11, 20159 yr comment_224550 Went for a wander yesterday Yay! Rides Is that scaffolding over Colossus's lift hill? Sure is! Rumour o'clock!!! Repaint? Chain work? Support work? General work? Start rumouring! For fun, how many rides can you see in this photo?
December 11, 20159 yr comment_224551 It'll be general work on Colossus most likely. Happens every so often (I think it last happened in 2010 / 2011?).
December 11, 20159 yr comment_224552 Six rides, I'm treating it like general work for now, a repainted Colossus would be nice but it'll probably end up how the assumption of logger's tunnel ended up last season. New trains would be nice however.
December 11, 20159 yr comment_224554 I would expect it's just general maintenance, possibly lift chain replacement? I must say I'm impressed with what I have seen of Thorpe's maintenance so far, they seem to be doing a lot of work on the rides this winter.
December 11, 20159 yr comment_224557 Not to dampen your enthusiasm for their work this winter in particular, but all rides have to be dismantled entirely every winter for legal inspections, so Thorpe Park do a vast amount of maintenance every year without fail. However it's not usually so visible like this scaffolding, as more typical track inspections are done by harnessing people off the structure.

Yeah I realise that, but they have been sharing lots of maintenance pictures via their social media pages this winter which is good to see.
December 12, 20159 yr comment_224601 I saw that today on my way to football. I couldn't see any work being done on it
December 12, 20159 yr comment_224602 ^In all likelihood, the engineers will only work Monday to Friday.
December 13, 20159 yr comment_224640 Would they really use scaffolding for a repaint? Surely a crane would be more economical, considering how little time it would take to paint and how long it would take to erect and dismantle it along the track.
December 15, 20159 yr comment_224780 I swear the "Colossus has scoffolding so must mean a repaint" rumour has been going for about 10 years.
