March 17, 201411 yr comment_178655 Finally, the Madagascar show is exactly the same as last year, and the year before..!! Surely they should have changed it by now? Keep the Madagascar characters, but think of a new show!! Overall, it seems that Chessington is much the same as it was. I do think the Market Square looks nice but the other "improvements" are a bit meh! 3 year contract, show written by Dreamworks not Merlin/Chessington... Only got the show because it was shared between Chessington and Dreamland (?) in Australia and therefore the cost of producing the script/records was halved.
March 17, 201411 yr comment_178656 They could always upgrade it to the Circus themed one located at Heide...
March 17, 201411 yr comment_178662 The most extravagant drain hole cover theming in the world? Can we buy Fastrack on this attraction?
March 17, 201411 yr comment_178670 I adore the Market Square compass. Thanks Theme UK. Thats the kind of thing I adore, that seperates Chessington from the rest. I also like the tree sculptures near Toadies, great work by the park. It's that kind of thoughtful, beautiful work that really shows up the half arsed attempts on Scorpion and lack of work at Falls. ... I can't actually tell where it's located?
March 21, 201411 yr comment_178960 Ahh, needs some benches.Remember this time last year when the park had to close the weekend after opening because of that cold snap and heavy snow? That was bloody awful.
March 24, 201411 yr comment_179170 Looks like they used Gardaland's Mammut for the shoot, rocks and all..
March 24, 201411 yr comment_179175 Dragon falls is looking good too. At one time it was crappy local fairs using pictures of big theme park rides on their adverts to entice you in under false pretences. Now it's the theme parks doing it!
March 24, 201411 yr comment_179193 That's shocking that they make Dragon Falls look like that in that ad. I mean, yeah, it looked like that when I went in 1995 when I was 12...
March 24, 201411 yr comment_179195 Everything in that advert is false advertising! They used shots of the vampire pre the restaurant makeover, so that area looks completely different in reality. Showing images of Dragon Falls pre strip down is totally sneaky and of course the digital effects added to the Scorpion Express just add to the farce. If it were just the effects to upsell the 'new' ride I'd have no issue but the fact that none of the rides shown look like that anymore just winds me up.
March 24, 201411 yr comment_179199 Marketing 101: nothing is what it seems . I feel like that advert is mundane compared to adverts, concept art work and other press junkets some other parks put out. I mean we're still awaiting tipping buckets for Storm Surge...
March 24, 201411 yr comment_179203 This advert is effective as the ones you get for Mcdonalds burgers. Your shown a large beautiful burger that's nicely presented on the commercial, whilst in reality what you receive is actually a flat, small, squashed and thrown together burger. Whilst Thorpe's adverts isn't perfect either, at least it shows the park more accurately compared to how Chessington's one has been done.
March 24, 201411 yr comment_179204 When I saw it I took in the 'exaggerated' advertising. But I think what stuck out the most for me is the way they've attempted to make Scorpion Express look like a huge, Big Thunder Mountain style ride - which if I'm honest, visiting Chessington without knowing what it really was, it would disappoint me just on the concept it's actually a small coaster and completely the opposite of the expectation the advert sets.
March 24, 201411 yr comment_179268 Oh this goes way beyond deflated burgers, this is a burger that get's served to you with the filling missing.
March 25, 201411 yr comment_179275 The advert shows you really what the park want to be, and the Falls / Scorpian stuff, kinda shows that they're embarassed about the fact that Falls looks like a tip, and scorpian is a half arsed Merlin re-theme. It's pretty shocking they can show things like that. At least Thorpe's is at Thorpe and in the last year or so.
March 25, 201411 yr comment_179318 Its false advertising tho, the amount of CGI and other rides, are there actually any parts of COWA's actual Scorpion Express?
April 3, 201411 yr comment_180066 I care, a newly opened attraction means stay away for the next few months.
April 3, 201411 yr comment_180067 I care, a newly opened attraction means stay away for the next few months. I wouldn't think a play-area within one of the animal areas would require this as a reaction to it opening...
April 3, 201411 yr comment_180089 THE PLACE WILL BE FULL!!!! I'm more interested in the hotelness. Hurry up holiday inn disappearing and extention finishing. I wanna stay.
April 4, 201411 yr comment_180242 I wouldn't think a play-area within one of the animal areas would require this as a reaction to it opening... I don't go when there's a risk of hype and I don't go when there's a risk of teething problems. Once every attraction has it's 2014 layer of dust is the optimum time to go.
April 5, 201411 yr comment_180306 Went today and was pretty empty, biggest queue I saw today was 40 minutes for scorpion express. Amuzu was completely empty but we didn't go in it:)
April 6, 201411 yr comment_180372 I don't mean to sound like a be-yatch (but I'm going to) but that guy stalking the Chessington facebook page is starting to creep me out.
