Benin
It would be amazing and a real unique aspect to the ride... Better than the burdenous internal queue one... Especially when the ride has broken...
Jammy3112
I swear, with the amount the spent on the strobe light on the inside queue, it would've made more logical sense to use them with the flasher instead.
pluk
I love the strobe on the inside queue. I love strobes anywhere though. If it were used outside it would be of no use 98% of the season, as outside it would be barely noticeable until darkness falls and the park is closed apart from Halloween. If they can only afford one of these £30 bits of kit though the best place would surely have been on the first, indoor, inversion.
Coaster
What is the strobe on the inside queue like? Is it constant?
pluk
No, it's intermittent. Sometimes seems to go off every few minutes, other times I passed through without seeing it at all for the 10 minutes or so you are in there. It is just a single strobe in the main indoor queue, it is on the left as you go in the standard queue but is quite effective at filling the whole room with its strobey goodness. noseyelephant
What is the strobe on the inside queue like? Is it constant? There are several projections on the walls which change constantly. The strobe lighting comes on every now and again. In my experiences it came on every few mins or so for about 5 seconds at a time? Went on the smiler this week as I was at AT for a few days. Apart from the effects not woring like other people have had problems with and also it braking down non stop, I didnt find it all that great. Now dont get me wrong, it is a good ride, very smooth and fun, but I just felt like it lacked something. Maybe the effects give it that wow factor? Personally I found watching it more impressive than the ride itself. It looks immense!! But once I finished riding it I walked off thinking 'that was fun' not 'oh my that was the best ting ever!!' It was just missing something that I cant quite put my finger on. Still a good ride though. Maybe thats the problem - I think its a good ride and not a great one! pluk
JoshC.
Posted yesterday on TST's Facebook. Hopefully the 'the higher the price, the less people will buy it' logic applies it, and works well in keeping the main queue as quick moving as possible, especially when Smiler was getting a full queue, and full overflowing queue, yesterday! pluk
Double it again, sell half as many. Jumping a queue that size is a hell of a premium product and should be priced to represent it. If it has to exist it should be for a few, not the masses.
Coaster
Hopefully these price increases will mean less sold, therefore a less stuffed up main queueline.
pluk
As reported by TS on facebook, it's dead again. Suggestion is that a sheared bolt has done this to the toilet roof Which if true begs the question, what would it do to the top of your head? EC!
won't be surprised if its closed for another 3 days now FrightNights04
mah boi
Which if true begs the question, what would it do to the top of your head? The most likely outcome would be something like this, if it landed on someone's face. FrightNights04
dragon2000
It's back open according to Ride Times.
Inferno
So it's spent the morning banging out bolts at enough force to chip a roof tile, then was "fixed" within an hour or so... Somehow I can't quite believe that cracked roof was caused by this incident... Surely that would be an enormous safety issue?!
Benin
I'd just like to say, that this runs fantastically at night <3 It's such a shame all these problems keep happening, because it really is a great ride... I was astounded at how well it rode on my two rides today and at night I was stunned by it... Fix it properly over close season, and it will be an excellent addition to the park and the UK more than it already is... Coaster
This flipping thing had better be open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week or I will not be happy!
Benin
Rule 1: They LIE It did open, then close, then re-opened again at around the time dragon posted... I don't really get your post... Especially considering the website only gets updated every 30 minutes and it says that for accurate queue-times to check on park...
Morgan
Also Ride Times uses the same feed as both the in park queue time boards and the official app, so if it says it's open on there then it should be open.
Fred
^ That's incorrect. Ride times uses the same information as Sales & Information Units, which can vary to information shown on any queue time board on park. Weird, but some systems get updated when others don't it seems. Glitch
How long do the sections of the queue line take outside/inside?
Benin
How long do the sections of the queue line take outside/inside? Very long... Like, seriously, even indoors it can take FOREVER...
Marc
Unless its the end of the day and theres no fastrack / staff are running it quickly, from the bottom of the steps yesterday was off in just under a hour. That said it was on 3 trains all morning and that must of been atleast a hour and half if not more.
Matt 236
The Smiler has received even more problems lately following parts of the chain lift coming off the ride. https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/1383526_564903986898238_226051418_n.jpg?dl=1 Photo copyright Themepark guide. Boy, the Smiler has had a problem at just about every moment possible almost and it's almost coming usual for the ride to fail during a major time of the season. They as well almost completely rebuild the ride the way things are going.
EC!
Photo from Alton Towers Guide facebook page! If its bearings from the trains then I can see it opening later today, if its from the lift hill motor (if that has bearings) then it probably won't open for the rest of the season.
