January 17, 201213 yr comment_130351 Probably look at 1.96m as a max. restriction, like with many other rides. Not too sure though..Oh no its been so long since I went to Thorpe Park I was 185cm then and I'm now 193cm I better not grow anymore :S On to the speed thing, I agree the ride is not slow at all remember the g forces will be exaggerated on the wing and I have bad news at 0;57 you can see leg guards on every carriage I believe.
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130353 I cant believe everyone is saying how short the swarm is, if you do your research, you'll actually find that the swarm is 5 metres longer than raptor! That doesn't mean it isn't short lol. Nemesis Inferno is short and I'm sure The Swarm is slightly shorter. But oh well, it looks incredible!
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130358 We can't really judge from this video - it may look very slow but I reckon once you are on board it will be floaty with decent speedy sections - will have to see.
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130361 http://thorpeparkmania.co.uk/news/17-01-2012/New-Swarm-VideoINLINE TWIST. It's... "slow", you say? Keep in mind - we queue underneath this!Credit to us because we're awesome.
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130362 oh gosh the station is looking better, just imagine seeing that going over your head just looking amazing. Ahh is there anymore videos now we have this
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130367 #Winning. The trains look so good when they're moving. I'll actually want to queue for this!!
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130368 What I love about the position of the queue and the tower is that, in that narrow little corridor all you'll be able to hear every 90 seconds is the low rumble of a B&M sex beast and then the screams of 28 people getting louder and louder before the train literally SHOOTS round the corner from nowhere and straight over your head! Ahhh
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130369 Okay so... I thought it looked slow in the earlier video... Second video... dam thats fast! no doubt it needs to be much slower than that going through the inline, otherwise you just wont have time to take in whats going on and the near misses will be a blur.
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130370 http://thorpeparkman.New-Swarm-VideoINLINE TWIST. It's... "slow", you say? Keep in mind - we queue underneath this!Credit to us because we're awesome.Wow! I don't get why anyone thinks it slow looked fast in the 1st test video too
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130371 And aside from the noise, it just looks so intimidating! I'm actually surprised how low it seems from inside there, the design team really deserve credit for working that into the ride. That video gives a much better view in terms of perspective, and distances between things / proximity to ground, buildings ect. The lens of the video from earlier looked kinda funny to me. Those three seconds are making me more excited in a way than the 1:30 of the first video.
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130373 Well whoever has been saying the inline twist was slow is a fish!It wasn't the inline twist I personally found slow from the testing video, it was the corkscrew. The speed through the inline twist is perfect!
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130383 For anyone that does not wish to download the video, here it is uploaded to youtube. It looks cracking doesn't it? It really sounds as though the ride is moaning and groaning as it swoops over the station. My only issue is- think of the sick that'll be spewed all over you as you're queueing underneath it!
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130384 I hope somebody doesn't throw up on that in-line twist, or else it's raining vomit for the people below. But my goodness that part looks great.
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130386 Wow, this is pretty damn amazing... If you focus on one seat and follow it as it twists around, you will see just how pacey this twist is taken. This will be like the Colossus twists, just with more of a flip over rather than a twist. I really can't begin to imagine how amazing this is going to feel when I get to ride it.
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130387 Anyone else notice the red markings on the top corner of the station wall, looks like they've got a bit of remodelling to do (we wouldn't want legs or arms removed!!)
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130390 In general it looks pretty good! Can anyone clarify whether this is the actual speed or just a trial speed for the first run? Looks like its going to be a great ride
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130391 Cold weather conditions, first wheels and it being the first (if not, one of the first) ever test runs will mean that there's still quite some tweaking with the ride speed to get done. Give it a few weeks and The Swarm will be run nice and smoothly, offering one helluva ride.
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130392 I am hoping I won't be too tall. The ride looks amazing, and I want on it so badly.
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130393 I'd rather have a short but sweet rollercoaster like Swarm, then one that rambles on for two or three minutes doing nothing in particular (The Big One, I'm looking squarely at you).So now the roofless station becomes clear, seeing that train rolling above you is going to be yet another amazing feature of this ride. It's taken what Nemesis does so well (when you are sitting front row and see the train coming towards you and over the station) and given it a Thorpe Park twist. Wonderful stuff!
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130395 So now the roofless station becomes clear, seeing that train rolling above you is going to be yet another amazing feature of this ride.Exactly what I was thinking, when you are inside, you will first get that sense of 'safety; from the devestation outside, and then you hear that sound and look up to see the alien up close and above you!Amazing job TP!Also, how long do you think until we hear from lez telling us the swarm has had it's first sighting?
January 17, 201213 yr comment_130396 I think the inversions on this thing are really going to pack a punch. I'm thinking about the last inversion on blue fire, I'd imagine they could be quite "airy" like that.At the speed it's testing...makes the inversions far more fun I reckon!
