So..Europa Park. I think it's quite clear that you know the drill by know. Any review or trip report from Europa Park basically comes back that it is the best park in the world. From lovingly planted flowers in Spain to refurbished boats/trains on Euro-Sat and Poseidon and the new ride Wodan, Europa Park has reaffirmed itself in my affections after a long three year gap. Monday 13th May Instead of taking the dreaded Ryanair, we instead went for a train travel approach. Using Eurostar, TGV and local train services takes up a lot of the day but you don't have to fly Ryanair which is a positive in anyones book. Upon arrival at Bell Rock which was our choice of hotel this…

  3. (Sorry about my lengthy Trip Report just as it was my first meet I thought I would do a special one for the occasion, also I apologise if it is not the best TR, it is my first one ) On Sunday the 21st April 2013 there was a lingering sense of excitement as me and my parents were driving 50 miles to the place that is called, Chessington. As I got out of the car all I heard from the direction of the entrance was Peaj’s voice, it was like a beacon calling out. The first thing that I did as soon as the gates opened was to walk through the cattle-pen to collect my first ever MAP, as soon as I had that I was on my way to the meeting point of Hocus Pocus halls, as it was my …

  4. So, as part of my Monday - Friday Easter trip to South-west Wales, I made a trip to Oakwood Theme Park last Tuesday. I was looking forward to visiting Oakwood, having heard good reviews about the place before. The park is *literally* in the middle of nowhere, you'll be driving through a bumpy single lane road and start to see the park in the distance, with Drenched dominating the skyline of Oakwood. Admission prices were very reasonable, at £21.00 for an adult ticket on the gate although we did use Tesco clubcard vouchers... Very good value in my opinion when you consider the other prices for parks in the UK. Park open hours were 10am - 5pm. Here's something though... O…

*warning, this is long* After a brief delay at East Midlands airport, I finally arrived at Hotel Portaventura after 11.00pm at night. Tired and very hungry, we grabbed a drink at the on-site café before heading to bed. I wolfed down a quick breakfast the next day before eagerly heading out into the park. Straight away you’re greeted by the gorgeous lake, with a lovely view of the B&Ms sitting proudly on the skyline. I just knew at this point that I’d fall in love with the place. So, the first ride of the day was Furious Baco. I’d already heard how terrible this was, so wasn’t exactly disappointed by the awful ride experience (the launch is incr…

TRIP REPORT - 6th and 8th April 2013 Firstly, I would just like to mention that after not being able to visit Pleasure Beach for a whole year it was amazing to be back at the park for two days! I now prefer the woodies to the steelies overall, although PMBO is still the best coaster in my opinion (Just!) Although the ride operation was an absoloute farce on both of the days I was there. (Now known in our family as "The sandbag ride" hehe). I was very dissapointed, I only go once a year so only getting on three times in two days was not good. (Was closed for most of Saturday and then half a train open on Monday. Not acceptable.) Grand National and The Mouse were both run…

Just to say I dont look like that normally its just it was so windy and cold it seemed make my face look horrible and my hair was a mess :s So on to part 1: We finally managed to get out after a massive hailstorm. I seem to be bamboozled by the amount of TV on that one building. Started to get annoyed cos the traffic was horrendous and the g…

A holiday that was meant to be for Valentine’s Day but there were just too many ride refurb spites. As it is we miss POTC on this one by one day . We also managed to grab a deal with two days and nights free. *starts the Disney 20th Anniversary album going on her iTunes* Day 1 - Monday 11th March Deciding that it was better to brave the worst of the rush hour and at least get into London, me and Benin set off for Victoria with me wearing my boots at the last minute instead of my trainers (which turned out to be a very good idea but more on that later). After a quick breakfast stop at Café Rouge (as if we weren’t going to France already) we headed up to St Pancras. A t…

N.B. I realise this review may include details about the new Dungeon that people have read about on other websites already - apologies in advance. Today I have been to the new London Dungeon at County Hall. I arrived at Waterloo about 2:30pm, and took the short walk to the Dungeon, arriving about 10 minutes later. On approach, the Dungeon isn't as large nor heavily advertised as I expected. I immediately saw the normal queue, and as expected, wasn't short. I was pleased to see it was well-organised though, and not spilling out onto the walkway outside County Hall. The front entrance to the Dungeon is quite plain, with glass doors contantly open, and the main entrance sp…

Me, Ian Sarah and Ricky headed up the night before and stayed in a scary looking travelodge in Burton, after overshooting the travelodge and Homer trying to take us to a gravel pit, we eventually made it to the room, we moved it around abit so we could charge phones from bed and what not! Headed to Derby early the next morning to get Liam and then straight to towers (via McDonalds of course) eventually got there around 11ish after tomtom trying to take us up some dirt tracks and all sorts of weird p…

So as the new year is getting along I'm sure many of TPM are looking at their calenders and budgets, so where are you going this year? Perhaps a jaunt to the well visited Florida and Orlando, or expanding the horizons in Europe... Or maybe even going to a non-Merlin park in the UK (the HORROR)... So my plans so far for the year are: - DLP in March - Denmark in June (Farup Sommerland, Djurs Sommerland, Legoland, Bon-Bon Land, Bakken and Tivoli) - New York in August (Coney Island) And potentially more, but these are the definites (2 are indeed already booked)... What about the rest of TPM?

Hey guys, today I visited winter wonderland in hyde park and had an awesome time; here is my review of what to ride and what not to ride. So, I started by looking round the angels market, breathing in all the delicious smells and I have to admit the food looked delicious, however the prices were high, extremely high! We headed over towards the alpine adventures zone to start with and noticed the wild mouse XXL going with empty carriages, infact the whole park was absolutely empty! We payed £6 each to ride the mouse and joined the queue(well there wasn't a queue but whatever!) the funhouse features in the queue were awesome however it was rather disappointing that they di…

  16. In what I hope I can make a seasonal thing now, here's the 2012 edition of my Review of the Thorpe Park season! First of all, a couple of little points - again, I won't be doing any for other parks, simply due to the fact I haven't visited them enough to do a 'season review' like this one. Hopefully next season will see me expand out to other parks a bit more regularly, so it is a case of watch this. Also, apologises about some of the bad photos; I've included as few shockingly bad quality photos as possible, though some do help aid what I'm talking about I think. Over the festive period, I'll be treating myself to a new camera, so hopefully 2012 will see the end of m…

Hey everyone. I wanted to share my photos from winter wonderland yesterday Overall it was a very good day, there's lot to do there, but it is very expensive most rides costing £6, so did not manage to get on a lot, all the rides are very well themed for Christmas and the theming in general is amazing. I also went to the Zippo's Christmas Circus that lasted for just under a hour, it was very good and funny, it was a mix between a circus act and a panto definitely worth a visit for all ages. The observation wheel was not the greatest, it went around 3 times by the end it was a boring and there is only one side really worth looking out of, but I did manage to ge…

  18. Started by Mitchada04,

Yesterday I was lucky enough to have the day of school and with my dad of work we decided it would be the perfect day to go to Winter Wonderland. I have been lucky enough to go every year since it began in 2008 and it has been great to see it develop the way it has, however, every year we had been on a weekend making it very busy. Fortunately, this year it was lovely and quiet thanks to it being a school day making it much more enjoyable. The layout of the event this year is much more spread out with wider pathways and more concrete paths other than plastic mud covers (or whatever they are). This and the event only being a week old on Friday meant it was much drier and le…

  19. This Saturday, I visited Warwick Castle for the first time. The trip was my first ever to Warwick Castle, as well as a first for the three others I was with. Being the final weekend of the Castle's Halloween event, 'The Haunted Castle', it was open till 9 (for the first time as well, apparently), so we arrived just before 12. The site of the Castle just after the entrance, with added smoke! The Castle is certainly an impressive site. Looks very impressive whatever the weather as well (come rain, shine or lit up - experienced all three in one day!) First up for us was the 'Flight of the Eagles' show. Bog standard show with a couple of eagles and an owl; wa…

Well that’s my biggest (and best) trip of the year over. I know Alton received some criticism for their choice of lighting in certain areas, but the whole atmosphere was just incredible. Day 1 I arrived at the park just after 4.00 and headed straight for Forbidden Valley. I did Nemesis several times and then made my way over to Air. I don’t normally bother with Air, but the park was quiet, so thought it’d be a shame not to have a ride. The queue for the front row was only around 15 minutes. It was starting to get dark by now, so I took the Skyride over to Dark Forest for a ride on Th13teen in the dark - fantastic as always! The queue for Rita was prett…

If you read my 'More Flags More Fun' trip report you'd know I had meant to meet up with someone to go round the park with but she failed. Well this was an unplanned trip that fixed that! Hoorah. Something that I don't have a picture of is the stunning lake that is literally right next to the rides (Canobie Lake Park.. duh). But yeah it was a beautiful setting. Arrived at 4, left at 7:30 after getting on everything we wanted including re-rides. Untamed This Gerstlauer Eurofighter was my second after Saw so I was naturally expecting a rough ride. I think it has the same layout as Rage, if you've ridden that! It was good! There were one or two 'rattley' t…

Trip report of Six Flags New England 14/10/12 I knew I was going to the park for ages and ages and despite arranging to meet up with someone, people fail at organising themselves and all that so at the last minute my dad said he'd be happy to take me! Whatever, I'm going to Six Flags so I'm happy! Park was advertised as open from 12-9 so I arrived at 12ish, greeted with a cheeky $20 parking fee the day wasn't looking very promising. Having visited Six Flags Elitch Gardens as a child and Six Flags Magic Mountain in a previous post-summer time to find horrific ride reliability, poor theming, incredibly slow operations, and Thorpe Park standard rudeness from employees et…

Tulleys farm is one of the biggest scare attractions of 2012! With 6 mazes and many roaming we were in for a fright as we arrived at tulleys farm's preview night! Below are reviews of 5 mazes! Due to the fact that the review has spoilers, the whole reviews are going to be in spoiler tags! Enjoy Sadly due to the fact that I am not 15 I was refused entry into the maze! Bit of a bummer actually as 15 is a 'recommended age' not a set age!

Leaving one of the biggest theme park capitals of the world is a very hard thing to do. Both Chris and I left Florida last year with a large amount of sadness, the thought of how long will it be until you go back. Well, Chris felt we needed another go and so forth a trip for 2012 was planned. With all the experience you gain, your trip is bound to be better planned. And there we were, off on the 30th September. 30th September 2012 - Flight Day. Despite the disasters of the Uk train system, we arrived at Gatwick with time to spare. We went to see our carriage, a nice refurbished 747 with touch screen entertainment system, yay. Long flights do bore me slightly,…
