Discuss the fun, fast and zany ghost train that is....Duel! What I find funny about this ride is that it is definetly one of my favoriots in Alton, just beating RITA and AIR! And that zombie just before the tunnel scares the pants off me every time!

Hi guys. In recent years, I think it’s fair to say that Alton Towers have had a bit of a nostalgia push, for lack of a better term. In 2023, the park revamped Duel into The Curse at Alton Manor, which harked back to the ride’s roots and brought back something more akin to the Haunted House from 1992 (while Curse is not the Haunted House, it’s a haunted house with enough shared DNA that I think the two could be conflated with one another by a casual visitor). In 2024, the park retracked Nemesis. And in 2025, the park have opened Toxicator, which brings back a ride akin to the late Ripsaw from 1997 (while Toxicator is not the Ripsaw, it’s a Top Spin with enough shared DNA t…

Hey guys, I was on a nostalgic binge earlier today and decided to listen to the OST from Futurama The Game. However, after listening to the OST titled "New New York" then I could distinctly hear a section from Air's old soundtrack at 0:42 [Now Galactica] This has made me think if any other music from Alton Towers has been sampled in different media. Does anybody know other examples where music from Alton Towers has been sampled elsewhere? I.e. The black hole's audio being used to promote space mountain

Seeing as though the Thorpe Park thread went down nicely, thought it might be fun to do one about Alton Towers too. Again, I’ll go first: The original Haunted House wasn’t that great, and people only hold it in such a positive way purely because of nostalgia and if it were to be recreated 1:1 today would be a flop.

Comrades, I have planned for a new bowling alley, at Alton Towers Resort. Here it is. All it needs, is your vote. 14 bowling lanes, to be made an even number, inspired from 14 roller coasters from the past and present, and also inspired from the 13 tables in the Rollercoaster Restaurant. In the restaurant itself, for the 2016 and 2017 seasons, the Runaway Mine Train was table/seat number 2, until it the Wicker Man took its place in the same position, also as the 2nd seat for each table, for the 2018 season, and has remained ever since. However, the restaurant has The Smiler as number 12, despite having 14 inversions. So I hav…

Hi guys. I have exciting news; it appears that Alton Towers is holding a consultation about building an “indoor attraction” on the former site of the Alton Mouse, within Coaster Corner (the area behind World of David Walliams): Those “in the know” apparently think that this is to be the next Secret Weapon. I’ve got to say, I think this is brilliant news! A new indoor attraction will definitely add some variety to Alton Towers’ lineup, which should hopefully allay recent concerns about the park lacking filler rides! With this being in/near TWODW, I doubt that it’ll be anything too thrilling, but I think the park needs more middle-ground things with a …

Hi guys. It's been 4 years since Alton Towers' 8th Secret Weapon, Wicker Man, opened, so I thought SW9 deserved its own speculation thread! I made this thread, however, because we've now had confirmation as good as any that SW9 is well and truly in the pipeline; Nathan Graveson, a designer who worked for Intamin and designed the likes of VelociCoaster, Toutatis and the Parque Warner Madrid launch coaster, has announced that he is now a project director for Merlin Magic Making, and has stated SW9 to be one of MMM's upcoming projects. He said the following, and the bolded explicitly references SW9: "I also have a massive announcement. Since my recent depart…

I’ve just come across this on the Alton Towers website Share massive giggles, mega thrills and major glee with your family in 2022 at Alton Towers Resort! As well as amazing new attractions, the Resort will be hosting fantastic events and entertainment for the nation to enjoy! “New attractions” are mentioned,to me this means that at least 3 new rides will arrive. Personally I think that the “new attractions” will be located in The World Of David Williams and CBeebies Land. I even think this article is hinting at a World Of David Williams expansion for next year. How do you all interpret Alton Towers saying “new attractions”?

Following the reveal that House of Monsters would not return for this year's Scarefest, speculation increased about the long-rumoured Cloud Cuckoo Land retheme. This seems more and more likely now: https://www.altontowers.com/2020/

Hi all, hope you are all well. I'm hoping someone can answer this...……………...so here goes as it's bugging me and trying to find a live video that was hopefully uploaded THAT year. Does anyone know which year it was when they did their annual fireworks, which if I'm remember rightly had something to do with a guy riding ''air'' and holding onto his hat and going back in time? I was thinking somewhere between 2002-2005 but cant remember what year this happened. I know they played ''your disco'' by Randy Jones but that's all I can remember I'm afraid. Can anyone help and does anyone remember what year they did this? …

According to Towers Times, Merlin have filed a trademark for the name 'The Alton Towers Dungeons'. Taking it very much at face value, that suggests Alton Towers are certainly planning on getting a Dungeons-style attraction. If true, it wouldn't be the first attraction to get a Dungeons within it - Warwick Castle does have the Castle Dungeons, which is a 45 minute ish experience. I'm... intrigued by the idea. There's enough real history, and scope to embellish the truth (see Hex), to create a fun and unique Dungeons style attraction. But would it really work in a theme park environment, especially at a park where it's a stretch to do everything of n…

I'm mainly talking about places to stay and eat here - but it doesn't matter. There's a nice little village called Kingsley Holt, specifically a nice little modern cottage which we make an annual trip to - one road village with a lovely community, two pubs (The Blacksmith Arms, which is closer and The Railway [Inn?]), the latter serving wonderful food and is owned by nice people (who used to own the other pub on our first two trips). 15 minutes away from Towers by car, 1-2 hours, 15 minutes in the other direction is Stoke and Birmingham, Manchester is about 1-2 hours away and there are LOADS of football grounds (Stoke, Birmingham, West Brom, Walsall, Villa wh…

Breaking news just on the BBC, two Smiller trains/carriages have crashed into each other on The Smiler today, no other confirmed details other than the site/area is being evacuated and an Air Ambulance is on site. Will post links when available. Edit: Alton Towers statement one carriage was empty and the other had 16 passengers on, collision was on a low section of track at slow speed, read into that what you will.

From TowersStreet Facebook today: Alton Towers have submitted plans for a FoodLoop style restaurant in Forbidden Valley, taking the place of the current Air shop. Does this suggest that a new large shop is likely to replace it in the near future...and therefore that a large new ride is imminent for the area? Link to plans Pretty cool, hey! Here's a short video of the Europa-Park one:
