October 18, 200816 yr comment_36367 Rush never has a big que anymore, its always short, and thats good coz its my fav ride, its coz so many ppl hate it.That's a joke right? The last 5 times I've been to thorpe and Rush has been open (cue Rush reliability jokes), the queue's have been the following...60 minutes80 minutes95 minutes70 minutes50 minutes...And 2 of those times were weekdays, so yah, one of the most popular actually.
October 18, 200816 yr comment_36368 The shortest queue, of the bigger rides, is probably Slammer. Possibly due to it being the 'scariest' ride in the park.Rush has almost always had a decent queue when I have been.
October 18, 200816 yr comment_36373 I think Vortex is better than Rush- Vortex is a flat which you can "enjoy" rather than screaming your head off on it you can actually enjoy the good- something that not man flats can do
October 18, 200816 yr comment_36375 If you are screaming your head off on it, means it's scarier, right?Rush always pulls a decent crowd as it's such a center peice and a noisy one. Remember Slammer looks very daunting and also holds what, 16 more guests at a time.
October 18, 200816 yr comment_36389 To be fair, the last couple of times I have been to Thorpe, the rush queue has been 30 minutes maximum, including yesterday night. The fright night audio for rush is lush
October 19, 200816 yr comment_36468 I havn't actually had a day in two years when Rush's queue has been below 40 minutes...
October 19, 200816 yr comment_36469 Last 3 times I've been its been walk straight on to the swing,, pick ya seat, then wait 5 mins for the rest to fill up. Win rly?
October 19, 200816 yr comment_36470 yesterday early evening it was 90 mins. so wher most rides though
October 19, 200816 yr comment_36499 Remember Slammer looks very daunting and also holds what, 16 more guests at a time.Cant use 16 more guests at a time! A ride cycle happens like every 5mins, its the slowest loading ride at thorpe (bar carousel probs). I've never seen it past like 20mins.
November 17, 200816 yr comment_39512 You know what I mean! Slammer is a people eater and sadly as fast as staff can batch Slammer, it's a fussy ride to balance, made worse by guests who 'chicken out' meaning more balancing and looking for certain number of guests to do this. Then comes the communicating with the remote operator to ensure the other side of the boom is balanced..THEN comes the akward bar checking, there is no space for ride hosts to walk along and guests hardly ever help by placing their feet out of your way, pulling their shoulder harness down too tight and asking for it to be unlocked, which finally encourages 5-6 other guests who want the same! It certainlly is a slow loader, but the ride experience makes up for that.Rush on the other hand is a dream, so easy to load and check, even quickly unlocking bars if need be. The only hassle on Rush is that theme park 'thing' where everone has to take their shoes off.. ?? If they're loose fair enough as I have seen my fair share of shoes/glasses and false teeth fly off into the Zodiac ride area and ontop the CocaCola re-fill hut!
November 18, 200816 yr comment_39684 I found that bullentin, doesn't say it is Rush, but the colours suggest otherwise.
November 19, 200816 yr comment_39688 Yeah thats rush, it wont say Rush as I expect it effected all Screaming Swings.
November 19, 200816 yr comment_39689 Good find Rich /Seb. I have been waiting for that one for a while.
February 18, 200916 yr comment_44860 I was at the park today, the restraint system appears to have been altered - the actual piece of metal which compresses to hold you in is now black. I think it looks really good! What do you think?
February 18, 200916 yr comment_44878 Yeh Rush's columns do look good in black.Andy, from what I gather I don't think it will be running on Friday. If it does open at some point during the day, they will put the net back up that goes over the path between Rush and Zodiac. If that's up then it might be that they are close to opening it.
February 19, 200916 yr comment_44920 It annoys me how seemingly careless Thorpe are with Rush. They promised it opening, and I can accept if it dosn't, but when it sits there all day and there is one guy with a spanner who lazily does some bolts up, then wanders away as if he did it out of a total lack of anything else to do.If you're not going to open a ride, fair enough. If you say you're going to open it and it breaks, at least make it look like you're trying to fix it... >:[
February 19, 200916 yr comment_44921 Thats abit unfair, you can not see whats going on inside the rides arms, inside the rides compressor room etc. Also they may be awaiting a part or working on a part in the warehouse. Also Rush has been regularly testing throughout the week. The nets have been put back up now, hopefully it will be opening soon.
February 19, 200916 yr comment_44933 Hah!To be fair the same could be said about any theme park. Marc is right in the sense that just because the engineers aren't visible, it doesn't mean that they aren't working on it. There may be very little they can do until a part arrives or whatever.
February 19, 200916 yr comment_44934 For some rides.. a good few hours of nothing does a load of good. If engineers left griffins or vampire overnight or for a few hours (went for lunch), it would sometimes start working like a dream after they come back!
February 19, 200916 yr comment_44954 Hope it opens soon, I missed riding it when I went yesterday!.Does anyone know what they are actually doing to the ride?.I hope it has a better season this year, 2008 was not really prime time for it.
February 19, 200916 yr comment_44957 The reason there's a lot of fuss over Rush at the moment is because no one knows what's actually being done with it. At the end of the day, Thorpe aren't stupid, they obviously have the intention of opening it during the next few weeks leading up to the main season. Be patient, I'm sure it'll open soon enough.
February 19, 200916 yr comment_44963 I think it would be a good idea to post on the website that it is down, then people who look on the main website daily to plan trips etc will know what to expect
February 20, 200916 yr comment_45007 I expect the park want Rush open as everyone else. The guys who work on Rush know her inside out and will be working hard to get the ride back in operation. In regards to not seeing anyone working on the ride; the PLC is capable of communicating with S&S for software downloads if they're needed and sometimes, the time difference between the UK and the USA can be a hassle. It's not always parts of the ride that can be seen, as mentioned already, the air dryers aren't in public view. However rest assured, Rush is a very popular ride and if it's remained on the website list, I expect it's due any day.
