Kerfuffle
Just a wild guess, but is there something visionary planned to go on the end of the building, judging by the top of the building being uneven?

JoshC.
Just a wild guess, but is there something visionary planned to go on the end of the building, judging by the top of the building being uneven? Nothing in the plans. A reminder for everyone how the building should look roughly... (James' picture that CoasterDude posted is from a north-west view of the site). The plans also indicated that this part of the building will have some (more?) trees to help try and hide this part of the building.
holtjammy16
Hopefully the trees they put to hide that are big enough, it looks worse irl than in the planning pics
Coaster
I hope that gets a facade, it looks dismal!
MChappy
For a little perspective, Ive dived into the 3d render and took some screenshots of the area we have seen being built. The only thing different is the actual building has a slightly sloped roof, the plans show it as being flat, but hey they change things Zach, Kerfuffle, Cal and 1 other
xxbennxx
If they leave it looking like that, then I would say this is a good indicator of the quality they are going for. Warehouses on closed industrial estates are more aesthetically pleasing than this monstrosity. I hope it gets a better look.
Benin
The plans didn't show a facade around it, so it's not getting one, so give up dreaming now... Of course, this is what separates ok from good, but I have no idea why Lego Billund were able to theme all sides of Ghost... Yet, we get this... Kerfuffle
I'm assuming that there'll be trees planted around the sides of the exposed areas of the building.
Whatever
It'll still look like a messy cover up when it opens because I doubt the trees will be thick enough for a few years.
Kerfuffle
It'll still look like a messy cover up when it opens because I doubt the trees will be thick enough for a few years. Well, when fully grown trees are needed asap, they aren't planted as saplings, they're actually planted in as fully grown trees (often using cranes). Coaster
Planting trees does not hide the fact that they haven't bothered to theme the building properly. For a high investment this is a very low standard already, let's just hope the interior makes up for it!
xxbennxx
Who says for sure that this is a high investment? The figure is not known.
Liam T
He's not wrong... (Credit to Theme Park Guide on Facebook) Well that looks bloody awful! I don't think any trees in the world will be able to hide the fact it looks like I'm staring at an industrial estate, not a theme park.
Project LC
Well my prediction of it looking hideous wasn't far off.
Coaster
Who says for sure that this is a high investment? The figure is not known. Very true actually, it could be a dark ride on the scale of Sub Terra for all we know.

Mitchada04
We don't know the budget. But Thorpe are due a large ride, on the plans it states how this is basically their large ride in place of the postponed 2015 coaster. Marketing has begun this early. It's not going to be small. The building thing doesn't show anything really about the standard of project. Forbidden Journey has a massive bit of its show building unthemed as you enter the queue and from JP it's just a white shed. At least it's the same colour as X so fits in, shrubbery is being planted which will help and there will be a large themed section. It's not cheap to theme a large building entirely, that's why many show buildings are tucked away.
SteveJ
Why many show buildings are tucked away is because a lot of meticulous planning goes into disguising it effectively and choosing land that can easily conceal the building. There's no effort made here really even though it would be well in reach to create a facade or remodel the space for that side of the building, just the budget controllers don't want to spend money on things like that when they can spend it on PR, technology research and marketing instead. People will just put up with having a plastic backside of a building on show and coming out in the way of the path, because its not seen as necessary for UK parks to bother creating an immersive space anymore, when you can pour the work into building up hype and looking for the next attention-catching effect. Marc
Maybe we should wait till March next year to judge how good / bad this looks?! JoshC.
James Allgood
I think people are judging this way to early! The park still has ages to dress it up and make it look good. In more news... they've done more foundations for the building! After looking at the plans and everything again I think there could be enough room for a coaster http://www.themeparkguide.biz/news/wc16-build-update MChappy
MChappy
Plenty room indeed, the 3d model I made shown me that, I dont think people realise how big it actually is.
Altitude
Sounds weird, but it's exciting to see the dark ride building... Dark inside? I agree it's a shame the UK doesn't do immersive experiences anymore but this thing is quite big so let's hope JoshC.
MarkC
Surely if there was a roller coaster going in there the footers would have been put in when the floor layed?
Project LC
Doubt its a coaster. Lack of footers, the building being quite small and its odd shape implies that it won't be a coaster. Also the fact that lifting track into place is hard when there is a roof in the way.
