Top 10's

Never been on a coaster outside of the UK (that's an adventure for next summer!), but still:

1)Nemesis: undeniably amazing, super fast, a classic, the only coaster to still somewhat frighten me. Theming is fantastic and only looks better with age though I miss the rivers of blood. Love the soundtrack and the way it interacts with it's landscape.

2)The Smiler: Kind of a love/hate ride I've noticed but I really love it, theme is very imposing, very disorientating, well thought out, not overly intense but very very fun! Genuinely can't stop laughing and smiling when I come off!

3)Stealth: not ashamed to admit I've ridden this almost 40 times this year alone! :') fave ride at Thorpe and since I live pretty close by I re-ride a LOT! Super fast, intense, good views from the top, overall very thrilling!

4)Oblivion: nothing beats the feeling of suddenly dropping over that edge! Very imposing, builds excellent tension, car released from the top at varied times, never seems to have too bad a queue- very re-rideable!

5)THE SWARM: first drop is fantastic (especially at the very back or forward facing seat 5), backwards rows are very intense, forwards rows show some excellent near misses so it's win win really. Very smooth, nice elements such as fire effect and water squirting from the lake. The theming is elaborate and thorough.

6)Colossus: intense and forceful, excellent airtime in places, feels so much faster than it is, some brilliant inversions, beautiful theming, soundtrack is amazing! Roughness really doesn't bother me.

7)Thi3teen: despite all the misleading hype around this before it opened it's an excellent family ride. Love the spooky theme, smooth and fun outside section, relatively intense backward inside section, trick track is unique and exciting. Love the inside of the station particularly!

8)Nemesis Inferno: a worthy "sequel" to Nemesis, though like all sequels it doesn't quite live up to the original. Seems to be getting better with age, nice smoke effects and water spurt, some intense inversions, very disorientating and AMAZING at night!

9)Rita: this ones a controversial one! I don't find it at all painful, the speed is consistent and exhilarating, not sure the theming has ever really suited it, but it looks okay in places. Very fast, some nice airtime, takes your breath away, always come off laughing!

10)Vampire: ride itself is really showing it's age but theming (especially that MASSIVE station) is on point and the theme song remains my favourite ride theme to date, it really gets you geared up. Moments of relatively high speed and intensity despite no inversions, long ride time, good interaction with landscape, swinging effect of trains is very thrilling. My first "proper" coaster so very nostalgic.

That was just coasters, if I had done all rides, Detonator would have been fourth, no kidding xD

1. Valhalla - I'm sorry but it was just such a stunning ride and the general contrast to the attention and immersion compared to the other rides in the park made this ride look absoluetly epic, and it was such a good ride!

2. Balder Dash - Just that pure air time! No seriously on the tallest hill the ride picks up so much speed I actually stood up. the restraints are one click fits all so I had about a 15 inch gap between me and the bar so I flew through everything.

3. Nemesis inferno - Mist.

4. Rita - Never got peoples problem with this ride.. Never found it rough, when I went it was pretty much my first rollercoaster with air time on it and it was so quick! (My first launched coaster too)

5. Revenge of the mummy - The effects were great, the rollercoaster part was also pretty cool, and it was nice to be such a good ride for the only coaster in the park.

6. Air - Again, such a fun ride, and it was the only ride my dad really enjoyed too. Did it 6 times in one day, just trying to do a superman all the way round. It shows things don't have to be tall, loopy or forceful to be good.

7. Grand National - Again as said above. The competitiveness aswell just adds to the experience!

8. Vampire - It seems to swing more/get more intene each year. I love it because of it's wildness but probably would've preferred it with the original cars.

9. Saw the Ride - I clearly remember my first ride on it. Sure it's rough and tumble but it's very fun and thrilling.

10. Rage - Fun! And it has a cute lil wheel squeak too.

(Rush would be number 3 but because this was just tracked rides I left it out)

After This weekend This is how things Shape up for me :P

1. Shambhala- Beautiful ride, amazing airtime, speed and height all wrapped up into one amazing little package!!

2. Wodan- Amazing as far as I remember, would be number one still if it had more Airtime.

3. Nemesis- Best UK coaster no doubt, still packs an amazing punch and I love every ride

4. Blue Fire- Most comfy coaster ever Period. Also one of the most enjoyable :)

5. Megafobia- Amazing woodie just not as good as the rides above it.

6. Silver Star- Really good coaster, although not best in the park and is made to look a bit naff compared to Shambhala but still really good.

7. The Smiler- Still really enjoy this coaster, have to say I do prefer it to speed.

8. Stealth- The Launch is just everything, and the fact it doesn't try to batter you to death like Baco is a plus.

9. Dragon Khan- Really liked this ride although what ruined it for me was that it had a horrific rattle but that Zero-G and the Corkscrews are just out of this world!

10. Speed- Still the best Eurofighter I have been on But not as good as it used to be.

Honourable mentions to: Nemesis Inferno, Colossus, Euro Mir, Furius Baco (although Painful) and Kraken. :)

Well after my most busiest year ever, especially theme parks, and with a new park, PortAventura to add... my top 10 has had a little reconsidering with PortAventura in mind, and the amount of time visiting other parks which worked out something like 1 a week aha - as before I won't include america as 2005 was too long ago, although SheiKra, Montu & The Incredible Hulk are the ones I remember and deserve a mention and if I go back to america sometime soon I would definitely not be surprised if all 3 and more appeared in my top 10 (rollercoasters)! My list is for rollercoasters, and although themeing making up the whole experience is great, I'm all about the thrills, well and fun!

1. Shambhala - Instantly became my favourite ride/rollercoaster ever, so much I racked up 20 rides in a weekend!

2. Nemesis - Loses the top spot to air time, but still an unbeleivable coaster and best in the UK

3. Nemesis Inferno - Don't get the hate for this ride... easily the most re-rideable of the coasters!

4. The Swarm - Was a little bit disappointed how tame it was back in 2012, started greying out on it once this year, can't be disappointed now!

5. The Smiler - Bit of a surprise for me, as I didn't really rate it much last year, but this year every time I ride it I seem to like it more and more!

6. Stealth - such a rush, the launch is crazy as well as the airtime at the top and back down!

7. TH13TEEN - shame it didn't meet the hype, and essentially we got a family coaster... but, well it's so much fun, and the drop on the back row, wow!

8. Rita - just an all round great ride really, holds the speed well.

9. Sonic Spinball /Dragons Fury - Can't decide which ones better, but they're the most fun on the list!

Worth a mention for being so close, it was that hard to decide...

Megafobia - Great solid ride, only good wooden coaster in the UK.

Colossus - it's the restraints and leg space, well lack of (doesn't help I'm over 6ft and can get claustrophobic), otherwise would easily be in the list.

Ben 10 - Such a fun little ride, and from the drop as it flattens out through the station (on the front row) is crazy!

Top 10 new rides for 2014

1. Radiator Spring Racers at California Adventure. One of the most complete, joyous experiences ever devised for a theme park. More then the sum of its parts and then some.

2. Chiapas at Phantasialand. I'm not normally a log flume ride. So its some surprise that this sneaks in here. I think it's so absolutely joyful and masterfully made by Intamin.

3. Helix at Liseberg. A wonderful roller coaster and the perfect sequel to Blue Fire. Go and ride it and find out how awesome it is for yourself.

4. Ratatouille at Studio Park. I've seen this described as loads of screens but its far more then that. A wonderful attraction and one that is full of fun.

5. Tatsu at Magic Mountain. I've said a lot about Tatsu. Suffice to say its a wonderful B&M and worth lots of rides.

6.  Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland. One of the most atmospheric dark rides out there. And a true original.

7. The Hollywood Hotel: Tower of Terror at California Adventure. Any other year this would be number 1. But I've been on two others. Nonetheless, it deserves some recognition.

8. Medusa at Discovery Kingdom. I am unashamaedly a fan of floorless coasters and Medusa is one of the best out there. Original layout, nice and forceful to. Under-rated.

9. California Screamin' at California Adventure. I love this and I think it's because I wasn't expecting too that it appealed to me.

10. Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland. Amazingly themed dark ride. Dressed head to toe in great touches. Very popular too.

4 Big Thunder Mountain {new}- the ride's exciting layout, interaction with theming and beginnings of end make this a fantastic fun rill coaster.

7 Thirteen

8 Big Dipper

Off the list

Oblivion- it's too much of a one trick pony I hate to admit

Safe to say my dark ride too 10 is now. Is toy filled with Disney rides (which is possibly a good thing)

I won't bother listing water rides since nothing there has really changed,

Double Post (it's been two weeks) Ok, Now that the Disney hype has very much died down, here's a list of the 10 parks currently I most want to visit (that I haven't been to (pretty sure there was a topic about this on here at somepoint but can't find it)).

Here goes

10 Gardaland (Gardacreek)

This is a park that proves Merlin can do great theming

9 Sea World (Creeklando)

This park looks like it holds an impressive collection of B&M's and impressive sea exhibits

8 Busch Gardens (Creeklando)

Another park with a great set of B&M's and impressive thrill rides and surroundings.

7 Universal Orlando (Creeklando)

Wizarding World of Harry Potter, need I say more!

6 Disney World (Creeklando)

It's DLP's bigger better brother, much bigger, plus Everest,

5 Liseberg (Creakyberg)

Helix, plus balder & Liseberganen on top of a picturesque city location

4 Port Aventura (Port Acreektura)

Shakbhala, dragon Khan, too notch theming and loverly weather and long hours make this sound stunning.

3 Phantasialand (Phantasia Creek)

This park seems to do an amazing job on making landscapes and visually stunning rides, see Chipas and Mamba

1 Efteling (Creekteling)

Baron 1898 looks a magnificent ride, plus dream flight, Joris De Draak & Flying Dutchman amongst others look great rides helped by a charming park theme.

1 Europa Park (Blue Creeker)

I've heard good things about this place, very good things as it looks like a park that has very few (if any) flaws as they seem to specialise in perfection. On top of woman, blue fire & silverstar, I want to see what all this paradise alley fuss is also about.

So Efteling & Europa are the next parks I (really) want to get done as they look stunning. The only reason the Orlando parks are lower in the list is due to the prospect they likely won't happen to me for at least a couple of years (unless a miracle happens).

(Those things in brackets are the projected names for the trios and vlogs, if and when they ever happen)

All of the above in the next 3 years

Lets take a revised look at this then.

1. Nemesis: It's not moving. Yet.

2. Manta: Manta and Hulk are two I'm never sure on which one I prefer so this time round Manta can take it!

3. Hulk: Adore this ride. Was one of my first major accomplishments and it's abroad.

4: The Mummy: Dark ride coaster bliss.

5: Everest: Must be the highest rated Vekoma in the world.

6: Kumba: I think it should be ahead of Montu majority of the time, depends how both of them are being trimmed.

7: Montu: It's good.

8: White Lightning: Must have forgotten about this last year. It's brilliant!

9: Swarm/Inferno: Depends which one is running best. Stealth is sometimes in the mix too.

10: The Ultimate: Yeah I'm quite shocked too but it's amazingly relentless and just terrifying fun!

Non Coasters

1. Spiderman: This will probably never change (I'd put this as my favourite ride of all time, well ahead of Nemesis).

2. Tower of Terror: Again, won't move probably.

3: Forbidden Journey: I don't like getting soaked so this can go above Dudley.

4. Dudley: It's great.

5. Valhalla: How I forgot this last time and ended up with Slammer in the top 10 I don't know.

6. Clyde and Seamore Take Pirate Island: Now it's closed I'm tempted to make it number 1.

7: Transformers: Didn't enjoy it as much as Spiderman.

8. Duel/Hex: Love them both.

9. E.T. It's fun and happy!

10. Time Machine: CRAZY!

With a few more parks behind me let's see how they've faired.

Coasters:

1. Hulk: This and Nemesis always move at the top. Last few rides on Nemesis were really smooth, no little rattle. It just seemed a bit tamer than usual and as that's what always makes it pip Hulk, Hulk is now top as I'd never had an off ride on either and sadly Nemesis fell first.

2. Nemesis: Just yeah.

3. Manta: I know this is less grrr than the two above so it can take bronze.

4. Mummy: It's not the best coaster segment so can't go much higher in my eyes but the whole experience is up there!

5. Black Mamba: Nothing on Nemesis, but a brilliant coaster, such an atmospheric station, well themed, some great choppers, nice bit of force and disorientation and the brake run is cool.

6. Everest: I still just remember riding it in SRQ loads of times as it was 5 minutes there and I don't just reride a coaster for the count if I don't see something worthwhile in it.

7. Kumba: It roars.

8. Troy: As a coaster this is sublime, relentless and just amazing! I think I prefer Joris en de Drakk more as a whole ride due to the whole fun element of racing, but Troy is a much better coaster so makes the 10.

9. Montu: Still just really really like it.

10. White Lightning: Let's end on something so fun it's just brilliant!

Other things:

1. Spiderman: Done.

2. Tower of Terror: Boom

3. Maus au Chocolat: Just wow! So much fun, great story and just <3

4. Forbidden Journey: I really like it.

5. Dudley: Love it.

6. Chiapas: Not quite Dudley but a brilliantly executed ride.

7. Popeye: Don't know how this missed out the list twice as it definitely deserves its place.

8. Clyde & Seamore Take Pirate Island: Still worthy of it.

9. Transformers: Just is where it is.

10. Droomvulcht: Really liked this one.

Parks:

1. Islands of Adventure

2. Animal Kingdom

3. Phantasialand

4. Universal Studios Florida

5. Seaworld Orlando

6. Efteling

7. Epcot

8. Magic Kingdom

9. Alton Towers

10. Busch Gardens Tampa

I've had plenty of time to reconsider my options. Obviously I'm still skeptical as we probably all our about our top 10s, but here:

COASTERS:

Balder Dash - Air timey woosh wow

RITA - Now hush. I still love this ride and after recent visits it has resparked my passion for this common outsider.

Revenge of the Mummy - Because it was fun and I remember the look on my brothers face and it was just brill and stuff.

WINJAS FEAR FORCE WWOOOOOO - At the time of my last list I sort of forgot about the international parks I'd been to in Europe. But Fear force is genuinely my favourite non inverting coasters together, however seperately one side is massively better then the other (I Can't remember which though). The trick tracks always amazed me and it was a really good experience.

Big thunder mountainuru - Tunnels

Th13teen - No idea how this snuck up here, I've ridden it so much recently though I've only come to enjoy it and appreciate it more and more.

Oblivion - until 2 weeks ago this was a coaster I'd never ridden. I'm sure its still just the whole new ride shock, but I've revisited again since and it still managed to freak me out, something quite rare these days with rides.

Grand National - yaey duelling with tight corners

Nemesis - Like 13 only really been able to appreciate this more recently.

I'm scraping the barrel from here. I really want to visit Europa, Mirilibanda, Phantasia (again), PA and gardaland in the near future, to hopefully shuffle up this list a little.

I've been having a little think about my top rollercoaster experiences recently and thought I would try and devise a top ten list like has been done above. I haven't been to that many parks, however I have experienced enough to form a list of truly stunning rides in my opinion. Of course, as I continue to visit new parks the list will most definitely change and my opinion is likely to change regularly on my exisiting list, so prehaps after I have visited both Bakken and Tivoli Gardens this August I will return and reconsider.

-My top ten rollercoasters-

10. Air- Alton Towers: Admittedly this rollercoaster has only just scraped it into my top ten. There were several other contenders up there such as Stealth at Thorpe Park, Dragon Khan at Portaventura and Euro-Mir at Europa Park. However, Air was a really unique ride and was something completely different which is the reason it makes it into my top ten rollercoasters. This ride was pure fun, it was absolutely brilliant. The position you are tilted into is something really special and gives you a unique feel to the ride. The ride has a really floaty feel to it and is pretty relaxing at times, whilst at others it becomes fast-paced and intense. I love the contrast of intensity and relaxation on the ride and overall it is a really fun and enjoyable ride.

9. Nemesis Inferno- Thorpe Park: Hmmm, this B&M invert has really grown on me over the years. I felt the heat of Nemesis Inferno for the first ever time back in 2011 and it was my first ever upside down rollercoaster and was what got me into the world of theme parks and the like. For that reason, I will always have respect for this rollercoaster however in terms of ride experience, it is currently one of my favourite rides in the UK and my ninth favourite of all time. The ride has a nice theme to it and whilst it could be more heavily themed, the current theming of the volcano combined with mist effects give the ride a nice feel. The ride itself has four inversions all tackled with speed and all four of these inversions are pretty intense and provide plenty of G-Force. My favourite inversion in particular has to be the Zero-G roll as this really throws you around and adds to the excitement and intensity of the ride experience.

---

You may be wondering to yourself at this point, how come Nemesis Inferno at Thorpe Park makes a spot in the top ten yet Nemesis at Alton Towers hasn't? Well the answer for that question is simple really. On my visit to Alton Towers, I was expecting Nemesis to be the best of the best, after reading reviews it was really hyped up. However, after riding this rollercoaster felt insanely over hyped. The first inversion was slow, and once the rollercoaster started to build up speed and intensity was gained, it would suddenly lose it again before hitting the vertical loop. Yes it was a fun and exciting experience, however I find Nemesis Inferno a far superior ride and for these reasons it unfortunately cannot make my top ten rollercoasters.

8. The Swarm- Thorpe Park: This has to be my favourite rollercoaster in Thorpe Park and is certainly one of my favourite rollercoasters that the UK has to offer. Back in 2012, this rollercoaster provided barely any enjoyment for me; it felt extremely slow and tackled the elements and inversions particularly slowly. However I really feel like this rollercoaster has got so much better over the years and now is superbly fast and provides a great amount of intensity and G-Force. Some of the inversions are tackled with speed and leave you pinned back in your seat while others are tackled slowly and provide plenty of hang time. This mixture of speed and hang time provide a truly awesome rollercoaster experience and one of the most fun and exciting experiences out there. The way the ride is integrated with the surrounding island is brilliant too and the rides theming has been carried out to a stunning level which really immerses you in the experience.

7. Silver Star- Europa Park: I was pleasantly surprised by this coaster as I had heard extremely negative reviews of it. Rumoured to be one of the worst B&M hyper coasters in existence, I was extremely pleased with what this rollercoaster has to offer. Comon', it's absolutely nothing in comparison to shambhala but it really does pick up some decent speed along the way and the amount of floater airtime this rollercoaster provides is truly brilliant. You are practically always out of your seat and this is what made me feel that it deserves a place in my top ten as the layout is relatively boring however this ride does provide a great experience with a fast pace and plenty of airtime.

6. Oblivion- Alton Towers: In reality, this rollercoaster should probably have made it into my top 5, however maybe it's the fact that this ride is so short that made it drop into the number 6 spot. It's literally all about the one drop, and then the ride practically comes to a halt. However, let me tell you, that one drop is one of the scariest, most intense, fast and brilliant freefall drops I have ever experienced in my life. The tension on the edge is truly nerve racking and then once you take the plunge, you immediately fly out of your seat. It's not a particularly tall rollercoaster, however the drop is certainly big enough to cause fear and an amazing freefall experience.

5. Furius Baco- Portaventura: The majority of English enthusiasts who ride this rollercoaster absolutely loathe it. I'm not the biggest fan of Intamin rides myself however this was certainly something different. The layout itself is pretty bland, however I think that actually works in the rides favour. I love the way this ride hugs the ground and then finishes by gliding across the crisp blue waters of the Mediterranean lake. Yes, it must be admitted, the ride is extremely rough and the train shakes like mad. However it's the pure insanity of the ride which I love and it's the way this ride is so utterly intense right from the 84mph launch to the brake run at the end which I love. The constant vibrations and intensity of this ride make it a completely unique experience and it's one of the coasters which makes me define myself as a true adrenaline junkie.

4. Arthur- Europa Park: It's strange to find this type of rollercoaster so high up on a top-ten list of rollercoasters where the vast majority are thrill rides. However, I was simply blown away by this ride as it was one of the most immersive rides I have ever experienced. Yes, it's a Mack suspended powered rollercoaster, which means it only reaches speeds of around 20mph however the theming and attention to detail in this attraction makes it truly amazing. The ride provides a strong storyline which it sticks to and the interaction with scenery and theming within the attraction makes it great fun and a really enjoyable experience. The cars themselves also move in a way which make you feel truly relaxed and as if you are flying which is absolutely brilliant and are equipped with several kinetic effects which add to the ride experience.

3. Blue Fire- Europa Park: I must admit, my first ever ride on this rollercoaster left a sour taste in my mouth. After hearing amazing reviews, I was somewhat disappointed with my first ride on this Mack Megacoaster. However, after a couple more rides this experience really grew on me. The preshow is well themed and builds dramatic tension up to the launch. The intial pull from the launch isn't particularly fast, however speed builds up quickly and you are speedily into the first element where you get an amazing period of hang time. The rest of the ride is fast, fun and very enjoyable and just when you think it's all over, the last inversion takes you by surprise and really is one of the most stunning inversions out there: It's like one of the barrel rolls on Colossus, however at five times the speed and you are really thrown out of your seat due to the lap restraints. Overall, this rollercoaster is extremely thrilling and enjoyable and after a few rides it really grew on me and became one of my favourite rollercoasters I've been on so far.

2. Wodan- Europa Park: WOW. What can I say about this rollercoaster? It is absolutely insane to say the least! The speed and intensity of this rollercoaster was completely unexpected and every time I rode this wooden rollercoaster, the insanity of the ride would shock me every time. Despite being fast-paced and intense, it's not particularly rough and it's also packed with tonnes of ejector airtime. This rollercoaster is utterly manic but in a way which makes you want to re-ride it over and over again!

1. Shambhala- Portaventura: Having ridden this rollercoaster last summer, it firmly holds the top spot in my list. I doubt it will be moving anytime soon; everything about this rollercoaster is simply amazing, it's tall, it's fast and the floater airtime on this rollercoaster is insane. The splashdown and theming effects around the ride make this a truly stunning rollercoaster experience.

That's my top ten rollercoasters for you! :D it's pretty much dominated by B&M rollercoasters so you can probably work out what my favourite rollercoaster company is... It's a shame I couldn't include all the rollercoasters I wanted to on the list, however at the end of the day it has to be narrowed down to the top ten and that's what I've tried to do.

Thanks so much for your time bothering to read this as I've put a lot of effort into writing this post :)

Felt like posting a top 10 for Towers rides:

  1. Nemesis: A fantastic ride with stunning theming which at 21 years old still packs a punch to this day!
  2. Hex: The Legend Of The Towers: No day at Towers is complete without a journey into the Towers itself! I love this ride so much. Really is one of those rides that defines storytelling by combining it with cinema, effects and stunning soundtrack to create a truly immersive experience.
  3. The Smiler: Though it is a great ride and a decent one to start the day on, it'll never have the same qualities as the above two.
  4. TH13TEEN: Always loved this ride from the first time on it! Personally, it's undoubtedly the most addicting ride on park! (hence me getting FOUR consecutive rides last month)
  5. Oblivion: For one thing, it's the only dive coaster I get to experience within 200 miles of me...and for another, it's a great ride which intimidates even before riding!
  6. Air: A good ride which my family go mental for whenever we go...and with a revamp on its way, it could be about to move up a notch on this chart!
  7. Nemesis Sub-Terra: A great ride with a surprising amount of detail in its interior. Still think it could have a similar ride sequence to Drop Dead though...
  8. Runaway Mine Train: Situated in my personal favourite area of the park, it's a fun ride which interacts with its surroundings nicely ("Choo Choo!" never gets old too )
  9. Duel: I just like this ride, purely due to the fact it's still a great haunted house! (Didn't John Wardley say he was impressed with the work they put into the revamp, but they just garnished it with lasers?)
  10. Sonic Spinball: This ride may be painful...but this is GOOD painful! I always laugh it off, due to the pure amusement and insanity of the ride experience!

(Rita is NOT included on this list, because the above rides are ones that never fail to make a day at Towers special in some way...and I'd rather not ruin it by getting a massive headache on Rita!)

How samurai can get into your top 10 rides on the settings it runs on is beyond me.

Would easily be in your top 3 if you went on a proper funfair topscan... They are absolutely mental I'll tell you that.
