It's that time of year again, the nights are drawing in earlier, it's cold outside and the closed season is upon us.  Which theme parks did you visit in 2018, and how many times?

I finally managed to get to some abroad parks, as well as having some enjoyable visits to UK parks.

I'll start with my count below (referring to the number of days spent at each park);

Blackpool Pleasure Beach x18

Thorpe Park x5

Alton Towers x4

Liseberg x3

Phantasialand x2

Chessington x2

Toverland x1

Efteling x1

Oakwood x1

Lightwater Valley x1

Dreamland x1

Brean Theme Park x1

Funland Weston Super Mare x1

TOTAL: 41

So 4 new parks this year (Flamingo Land, Adventure Island and Polish parks). A quieter year for me though. But hey, at least Phantasialand was my second-most visited park - happy with that ?

Uhh, here goes my confession:

I’ve visited 0 theme parks all year.

(well bar a 5 minute trip to Adventure Island to get on Rage)

That’s not to say my enthusiasm’s waned at all; I spend most of my time researching, exploring and reading about theme parks online. I guess I was just busy this year and my inability to drive combined with a lack of theme park buddies does mean that getting to new parks is rather difficult.

I hope that a year from now I’ll be writing up a very hefty park count... including trips to The Efteling and Phantasialand...

Thorpe Park x21 (yes, really)
Alton Towers x6

PortAventura x6

Chessington x5

Europa Park x3 (first visit)

Liseberg x2

Legoland x1

Blackpool x1 (first visit)

For 2019, it's all about trying Toverland finally, and visiting Liseberg and Phantasialand once again. Gotta get on Valkyria and Fēnix.

Lets see thorpe once, alton once, chessington once.

The lowest park count in like a century mainly as my partners pregnancy spanned the season and a little buddle of joy made it into the world in mid October to get her first onride picture on the gruffallo on the last day of the season ?

An incredible list. You have visited approximately 77 times the amount of parks than I have this year.

I have an excuse though, my wife has spent the whole of open season very pregnant. At least now I'll be able to tick Gulliver's off my list next year...

Pluk,  gullivers at under a year old ??  I think your starting a tad tame tbh. 1.2 meter high heels and onto nemesis they go ?

No seriously though I'm in the same boat kiddie parks are gonna be a bit of a thing for a few years as I will have to get my little one into coasters tbh (my needs come third now apparently ? Baby, partner,me)

Pfft, all you have to do is email them and they let you in escorted...

Me and my credit counting friend have tried no less than 4 times now with no result, it quite simply is not as simple as you make it out to be...

On the up side, the very same day they last ignored us they made national news for "trapping screaming children 200 feet in the air for 4 hours", so who really is the loser here?

I'm not bitter honest...

Alternatively, go for an interview there, and they let you roam around the park unescorted for free afterwards.

Didn't feel wholly comfortable with that proposition...

Tempting...
