Coaster
Because Scorpion Express, Market Square V2, Penguins of Madagascar Live and Penguin Bay all fit into the above... The only pick the themes because they work anyway! Even if Africa is becoming a bit excessive, its still better than the other parks where its just oil drums, satellites, and partially destroyed buildings. Two of Chessington's (10) areas are in derelict, two. Both are being sorted in due course anyway. Yay! Fanboyism! It was intended as a joke, but I consider the following areas as looking tired and in need of TLC: Forbidden Kingdom, Mystic East, Land of the Dragons, parts of Transylvania and Pirate's Cove. Mysterio Ka
You should visit Transylvania, they've done a little work tidying it up round the edges. Mystic East has had ongoing works for the past 2 years, I just hope they haven't stopped quite yet. forbidden kingdom looks fine to me, as does land of the dragons. I suppose at the end of the day it's all down to opinions. Pirates cove I think is practically non-existant. It's got some good stuff in places but very little in others. Would be interesting to see some development here (like one of the fan made rapids rides)

As for Forbidden Kingdom, have you seen the state of Tomb Blaster? (Both the ride and it's exterior).
SteveJ
Most of the park is a state really and they are yet to find somebody with enough vision and direction to turn it around in my opinion. Money flying into the hotels while the theme park is falling apart? It's sad to see but I'm so glad there are a handful of people there who care and are using their own initiate to improve the visitor experience. I'll wait until there's at least one ride open there I think! Mysterio Ka, Whiteknuckle, Kerfuffle and 2 others
TraX
Don't stand up to them on this. The park is a tip compared to it's glory days (and everyone who works there knows it too). Yes work is being done, but they need a lot more than wooden fences and African theming. Coaster
ashleyrose-66
Vampire to remain closed this weekend, and in to the school holidays. I know they said they are waiting for a part, but how long does it take?
Mysterio Ka
It's been said elsewhere that ride parts can take up to a year to source, create and ship. I'd expect this is especially the case with extinct manufacturers. (assuming it's an arrow part)
Nosferatu
Didn't all the ride mechanics get redone by Vekoma though? I think the only thing left of Arrow is the track.
Mysterio Ka
It could be a problem with the track (or lifts were still arrow I think) though
Adam P
As previously reported Vampire still has no chain on the base of the second lift hill, it does however have a train full of water dummies sitting there ready.
ashleyrose-66
Chessington Buzz on Facebook say they were testing Vampire today, but it has stalled!! https://www.facebook.com/ChessingtonBuzz/posts/924386277602086:

Mysterio Ka
Vampire was testing today! Around 3:30 ish? It completed a good couple laps but otherwise I didn't see much. But it doesnt seem stuck anymore. Kerfuffle
HermanTheGerman
Did the trains have all their seat covers on? They didn't the other day.
Mysterio Ka
I don't think so, the wires were hanging out the back if thats what you mean. HermanTheGerman
HermanTheGerman
Interesting, I wonder if they're the parts they're waiting for. If so, its good to see their still testing it and supposedly doing staff training so that it can open as soon as they get the parts.
Adam P
Chessington have said that when Vampire re-opens, it will be on reduced capacity. That spells one train operation!
Coaster
Chessington have said that when Vampire re-opens, it will be on reduced capacity. That spells one train operation! It already runs on reduced capacity! Why are Chessie so incompetent these days?
Kerfuffle
Believe me, they'll regret this as soon as they see the queue stretching out to the Transylvania entrance. Coaster
Coaster
Believe me, they'll regret this as soon as they see the queue stretching out to the Transylvania entrance. Nope, they'll send out a staff member to sell Fastracks! (Before people start moaning, that was intended as a joke although I wouldn't be surprised). JoshC.
Chessington are in a lose-lose situation at the moment. They can either open it on reduced capacity (which we assume is the one train) or keep it closed longer to wait for two trains to be ready. Neither are great, but I guess that in their current situation, they're at least doing the lesser of two evils. For Chessington's sake, I really hope they're not busy these Easter holidays. It should definitely be opened, but needs a sign outside the ride warning people that it's on one train so the queue will be slower. They shouldn't even be in this situation, there's no excuse for not having the ride ready on time, this just adds insult to injury.
