Phill Pritchard Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 By the way, this photo is from the website of the company who designed the façades and theming for Amity Cove when Tidal Wave was built (they also did Rattlesnake, Transylvania and Forbidden Kingdom at Chessington). Thanks for sharing this website. The site looks quite old but they have some great photos on there. The one of the Tidal Wave theming being constructed is cool. Really I wish I had taken some good photos and video of the ride while the water tower and fire effect were still working. Quote
Stokesyboy Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 Did you mean Tidal Dave?Haha thats pretty cool! Quote
Mark9 Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 For all you doubters out there, the Amity Cove sign has returned.Oh and Tidal Wave IS the best water ride, if not the Uk then at Thorpe Park. It's fantastic ! Coaster XTREME, electricBlll and A-Kid 3 Quote
Coaster XTREME Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Glad to see it's back. Its a great piece of theming so it would have been quite a loss if they had scrapped it. Quote
JoshC. Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 That dent in the top right hand corner has added to it as well; nice! Quote
Benin Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 That dent in the top right hand corner has added to it as well; nice!Didn't they dent it when they built Storm Surge?I seem to remember people kicking off because of that... Quote
JoshC. Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Didn't they dent it when they built Storm Surge?I seem to remember people kicking off because of that...Yeah, they dented when they were tearing it out. And a few people did kick up a right fuss about it... As I said, I like it, makes it look better Quote
Ricky Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Wait what dent?looks the same to me.. electricBlll 1 Quote
8carl8 Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Maybe I am being pedantic, but it's looking a bit sorry for itself. I hate the way it has been plonked on a bit of the old Octopus garden sidewalling. When it was on the grass hill before, with shrubbery behind it, it looked like a real sign. Also the lights have been removed, and they werea great bit of theming. Luke_A 1 Quote
JoshC. Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 I'm sure they dented it when ripping it out... Meh.And personally, there's still some greenery by the Storm Surge area no? Well, there's the best place to put it in my eyes... Quote
JamesT Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Dont think it stands out that bad! The green area which backs on to Storm Surge is already proving a popular area to sit and hangout so I dont think plonking it there would of been a good thing, I'm sure it will grow on us Quote

It's on a major pathway at the entrance to Amity Cove, works for me. The lights might come to, afterall, a week ago we didn't even know if the sign was going to reutrn. Quote
Pickles Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 So we moan that it wasnt there.. Then we moan when it returns? So tell me, where would you of put it in that area with next to nowhere where it would fit in?Wrong way to answer a post (Thorpe park kiss up )Yes you are being slightly pedantic as I think the sign fits in its new home fine. It's on a major pathway at the entrance to Amity Cove, works for me. The lights might come to, afterall, a week ago we didn't even know if the sign was going to reutrn.Right way.As far as I see it the sign was nice where it was, with one of the manyy bits of grass THORPE PARK has =D Quote
Mark9 Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 I suppose really, the park shouldn't have reliability issues anymore because most of its rides are now over 5 years old. Back in like 2008 Thorpe could use the timeless excuse that its rides are new and are still throwing up unpredictable challenges. Not so anymore, loves Quote

Mark9 Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 No because the rides in Thorpes opinion will now be "getting old and having reliability issues"True that. I'll just bring up Corkscrews excellent reliability then Quote
Fred Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Can also bring up nemesis' or vampires as well - being the oldy coasters in the merlin world Quote
TimmyJimmy86 Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Last time that I visited the park (21/03/11), I noticed the water guns in the splash zone were not working as were the same water guns at loggers leap, Why cant Thorpe keep these small things working within the park, It looked so much fun to soak people when they least expect it ?? Quote
Ricky Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 True that. I'll just bring up Corkscrews excellent reliability then In the many times I went to Towers whilst Corkscrew was operational it was open once... and the time I got on boy did that hurt.. Still, fun rideish Quote

Jord Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Where exactly is this dent :l It looks like the old sign without the 'Original Source' logo... Quote
Welsh Boy Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Sorry if I'm going off topic, but what's this "Tidal Dave" all about? Quote
