Emma1980
I went on it once, it was great, but jesus christ it was WET. When I say, wet. I mean it. Never EVER again would I go back on it.Although, I would rethink my opinions if it was a super hot day, or more importantly, if the effects came back. Never seen it with fully working effects, and would love to have a look. Just invest in a £5 TP poncho lol I hate getting wet especially when its cold but I still love the ride so bought one of these that just sits in the boot of my car for when I go next time! BigBobJones
Those poncho's are rubbish, I'm sure they have a special material which weakens as soon as it gets wet, we brought 6 last year and all of them ripped
RideAddict
They're only cheapy ones, I wouldn't expect them to last a season!
Benin
I've seen lots of people with old style Towers/Thorpe/Lego/etc ponchos many years after the marketing style on them went out... They can last (unless you visited the goats at Camelot)...
Ricky
I had one for years with 'Looking Sexy, Keeping Dry' on the back of it, it didn't break but my cat pee'd on it otherwise mine would be going strong 10 years down the line! Fred
My old towers purple one still works wonders. Current one really wouldn't.
BigBobJones
They're only cheapy ones, I wouldn't expect them to last a season! Cheap.... oh no they are not we paid £5-£6 for them and they lasted a few week before ripping. We got some cheap 99p ones when down in Cornwall they lasted 2 seasons. But it isn't in Merlins interest for these to last as you just buy more. But there is a loop hole, as long as they have not changed the design, if yours is ripped, you buy a new one, then go on tidal wave then go back to the shop and say it has torn, hand them the old one and they give you a brand new one. RideAddict
I never wear them. I hardly ever go on Tidal Rave. I'd much rather spend £2 being blown dry then drying naturally.
jom222
I only go on Tidal Wave when it is very hot but if I do plan to go on it or think I might I take spare clothes to change into. Most times though after we go on it we to onto the beach.
Coaster
It's worth mentioning that Tidal wave has recieved a repaint on the trough after the drop. Whilst not a major change it does look nicer. There is also an announcement now asking people to remain seated with their arms inside the boat on the final turn. RideAddict
Trough? Is that the little fences (as I would call them) to keep the boat inline?
Benin
It's the area where the water is held (I.e. The splash pool)... Happens on a regular basis...
Ricky
To be fair, Tidal's trough gets repainted every year

Coaster
To be fair, Tidal's trough gets repainted every year Yeah but it was a darker shade of blue this year and I thought it stood out more than previously.
Dan9
To be fair, Tidal's trough gets repainted every year I remember when they weren't for years, everyone was so amazed when the whole floor and trough were repainted at the start of 2008. Ah how I miss the sucky Tussauds maintenance days, general park improvements used to be so exciting. coaster_monkey

The quality of the merlin ponchos has reduced dramatically I have still in use an orange Alton towers poncho from around 1999 2000 time it was Definatley made to last as is a blue towers one I have from about 2006.
