Doc
Looks like it will most certainly be reopening this year then. Fantastic news. I have to give Thorpe credit that whilst they don't have the best reputation when it comes to ride reliability, they do seem to be very persistent in getting all out of service rides back up and running as quickly as possible. For example, they could have easily removed Slammer years ago or left it SBNO but they still keep pouring money into the ride. Hope it is all up and open for when I visit on the 29th. Rocket
We asked for a high setting and it ran well! Lets hope it stayed this way
Mitchada04
So if it's now 2013 why's SW7 not open? It was great to see it open yesterday and great to ride it, didn't seem to be struggling to stop which was good. It was amazing to stand in Samurais queue and watch Slammer going aswell. Well done Thorpe!
Benin
I found it very amusing when I went towards it and it broke... Reopened shortly after, at which point Slammer then broke... Would've ridden both if it wasn't for the awful rain, but they're back up, which is very good to see... Well done...
Weeksy
Good on them for pulling out all the stops to get it back for Fright nights. Impressed
c1hrisin
I found it amazing yesterday. I'm not sure if it is new to 2012 but as well as the usual lights it had fog coming out from below the ride. I found this made the ride experience so much more exhilarating! holtjammy16
I found it amazing yesterday. I'm not sure if it is new to 2012 but as well as the usual lights it had fog coming out from below the ride. I found this made the ride experience so much more exhilarating! Yay! As far as I've seen they haven't had the fog effect on it at Fright nights for a few years now, it really makes the ride look spectacular in the dark. Am now mega excited to ride it with fog
dragon2000
Last year the fog machine was used for Vortex.

jammydodger
I went yesterday and it ran well, however it was shut until about 1pm
TPJames
Can anyone post a vid of the ride now running?? I went to fright nights and it was shut so I would like to see if its running to the max? The spinning better be good because samurais settings usually make you end up in the same position every time round instead of a variety! I would like to see the new motor working! Thanks
TPJames
I went yesterday and it ran well, however it was shut until about 1pmThis wasn't a fright night but just to say one time I had a look and samurai was only open till 3pm I was like wtf! Then I went on saw later in the day and it was open again! I dunno why but it like closes if the forecast is for rain or something?!
TPJames
I found a vid on youtube the motor looks the same :/ We asked for a high setting and it ran well! Lets hope it stayed this wayIt looks the sesame if not worse- maybe it's just because of a setting :/
tomglazed
I'm not sure how this will be received as an idea but as Merlin appear to be experimenting with opening select rides later, maybe Samurai should be added onto this list. Trim the operating time down where possible so that when it does run, it can be run at adequate settings?
Marc
I think Samurais way past that now, even on the slower settings it seems to struggle at the moment
Sidders
Whilst I agree with the fact that later openings may not actually help the ride (the ride may be closed but the queue will begin to fill regardless, resulting in many shorter cycles in a shorter space of time than the normal queue time:cycle time ratio and exerting an equally if not more stress on the ride hardware), surely the recent renovation/maintenance the ride received has been helping it with it's somewhat troublesome behaviour? I understand the main reason for the maintenance was the zeroing difficulties, after one such incident could've ended in disaster for the guests and the park, so surely Samurai shouldn't be struggling with these anymore? MikeC
Don't know if this video has been posted here before: But saw it on YouTube this evening and thought wow, how much better is it running there! And it looks much better with the icon covering the motor Sidders
EC!
That was the year it opened so yes it's definitely working better. The disk was taken off for ease of maintenance which is sad but oh well.
Daniel.S313
I'm just glad its back and working I asked for the highest setting and got it on monday it was great
dragon2000
That video brings back good memories! Giving out fantastic cycles and the music makes the adrenaline start pumping too. Can't believe how quickly it lowers back down again compared to the frustrating faffing around it does now (which I hoped would have been sorted when it was completely taken apart...).
