Doc
It does somewhat give me that 'Colossus vibe' Either way, fantastic pictures. Glad to see it is finally nearing competition.
J.S217
I wander what the main part of this ride will be advertisement I have a feeling it will be the Knot and the Marmaliser
RideAddict
I think it will be mainly the Staffordshire Knot, the secret element, and the message about how it plays with your mind and tries to make you come off the ride smiling. pluk
I wander what the main part of this ride will be advertisement I have a feeling it will be the Knot and the Marmaliser Don't think they'll mess about with those 'little' things promotion wise. I think it will be quite simply WORLD INVERSION RECORD!

Valentez
Anyone got a stanley knife? Standby for constant anaylsis on every little bump or groove on the plastic by certain forums that said from looking at the pic I'm getting visions of a setup similar to this... aTOMic
J.S217
wow wonder when we see them uncovered
Benin
Another pic reveals................... Nothing of 100% determination, but it's looking like OTSRs people, move along...
Mer
I thought they looked more like lap bars They don't look like the usual Gerst OTSRs anyway, unless of course it's a new design
Benin
Can't be lapbars purely because there isn't a connecting bar at the forefront of the picture (I.e. look at the picture of Wicked above, and the B&M clamshells)... If they were lapbars you would be able to see it quite clearly from that pic... So unless they've gone and done a Blue Fire restraint (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE), it's gotta be OTSRs of some form...
J.S217
erm what does OTSR stand for
pluk
Over The Shoulder Restraint (which is a bad thing!)
Benin
Over The Shoulder Restraint (which is a bad thing!) Doesn't AUTOMATICALLY make it a bad thing, most Eurofighters don't have the awfulness of Saw...
pluk
In my experience, across all manufacturers (not Saw/Gerst bashing here), it is pretty much always a bad thing for a sit down coaster. My size doesn't help, but lapbars are just better. Luke_A
Tom
Yeah the restraints look like Gerstlauer OTSRs from that angle.
Luke_A
They are indeed OTSR's. Disappointing. (from Towers twitter) Bit of a let down because Tripsdrill's new launched Eurofighter for 2013 is also having lap bars similar / identical to that of Iron Shark's. I feel like Alton have missed a trick here, seeing as lap bars are becoming more and more common from manufacturers innovating in this field... I'm sure if a Eurofighter can do 4 inversions with lap bars, it should be fine doing ~14!

Mer
Oh well, at least the trains look good from what we've seen so far
JoshC.
Is it me or do they look a slightly different style to OTSR on Eurofighters? Hasn't surprised me really, would've liked to have had lap bars, but it's not the end of the world, ey? EDIT: Better view here. They look great! http://www.the-smiler.com/latest-news/the-smiler-ride-cars-arrive/
Mer
Love love love it! Credit to The Attractions Guide Facebook page And yes Josh they do look different to the other Gerst restraints! Topsyturvy15
MikeC
I'm absolutely in love with these trains . One thing I don't get is the hate from enthusiasts. Honestly, there's just no pleasing some people.
dragon2000
Exactly the same as Saw's restraints. I'm fine with them, just have the problem of them over-tightening during the ride and end up with a crushed crotch...
Tom
Where have you seen hate? The general opinion here seems to be 'lap bars would've been nice but I'm sure this will be fine!'.
MikeC
Where have you seen hate? The general opinion here seems to be 'lap bars would've been nice but I'm sure this will be fine!'. I'm seeing lots of negative feedback on Facebook about lap bars, and the colour scheme in particular. People should wait until they've actually ridden this thing before passing judgement. J.S217
I have a feeling these look rather different to Saw's OTSR's with the more open room for your torso and the more space for your neck but It could just be the Camera angle
