April 2, 201312 yr comment_155418 If your thoery is correct, and sadly I think you'll be let down, then this secret element won't be a world's first. Synchronising trains as they leave the lifts already happens on Vampire. It used to, but not with the p**s poor operations we see nowadays.
April 2, 201312 yr comment_155476 I read something on TST which may explain the cause of the delay (or, at the very least, contributed to it). Here's the post my member 'Dar' I did, however, find these two notices served on the Smiler's construction company in October last year.Linky linkThey are Immediate Prohibition Notices, meaning an inspector has found something that they think will result in serious injury if allowed to be done. The description of the activity for both notices reads: Quote PN - Failure to provide trench supports, box's or battering to ensure that the sewer pipe trench (or part of it) did not collapse. PN - Failure to provide supports or battering to ensure that the faces of sections of the main excavation (or part of it) at the site of the new ride did not collapse. This would go some way to explain the delay. They would have had to find a different way to excavate the areas that would satisfy the inspector and then complete the new work. Of course no work could be done while these notices were in effect!Does beg the question of how they could have overlooked these, they seem like simple things to get done. "Digging a hole? We better make sure the sides don't fall in on us!" "Nah, leave it. It'll be right"?So it seems that the "we need to blame someone" camp can aim their vitriol at the groundworks company. April 2, 201312 yr comment_155480 The have started adding bits to The Flasher's leg (sounds a bit wrong saying that out loud )
April 2, 201312 yr comment_155491 It used to, but not with the p**s poor operations we see nowadays. Piss poor operations yes, but they still sync, or don't they?
April 2, 201312 yr comment_155492 Well no. Because the only way to make it sync was by having 3 trains. It'll never be on 3 trains again.
April 2, 201312 yr comment_155493 During a 3-train operation 2 of them were on the lift hills, was the third in the station?
April 2, 201312 yr comment_155525 If this is what the smiler does to my face then I dont wanna go on it!!
April 2, 201312 yr comment_155554 If your thoery is correct, and sadly I think you'll be let down, then this secret element won't be a world's first. Synchronising trains as they leave the lifts already happens on Vampire. Well vampire is designed to be dueling and The Smiler clearly is with similar elements after both lifthills. I don't believe this has been done elsewhere. I would be happy if this was the secret element tbh, I can't see what else they could do tbh!

Th13rteen was the last rollercoaster to be built on the Derby site in 2010, joining Alton Towers favourites Air, Nemesis and Oblivion. Reported with the usual accuracy
April 4, 201312 yr comment_155698 Got told the other day by a staff member that opening date might be heading towards June, he's seen the banners which will cover over the May bit on the big banners which say June... Again don't know how reliable it could be and it could be made up! But we'll see!

April 4, 201312 yr comment_155716 I'm starting to think the world's first element will simply be - It's a dueling coaster in one track - hopefully they'll synchronise the trains as they leave the chain lifts INVERSION RECORD No?
April 4, 201312 yr comment_155731 I dunno why we're even speculating this world's first element when it has already been confirmed it has more than Colossus. In the words of Saw's Billy, "Game over."
April 4, 201312 yr comment_155765 INVERSION RECORD No? That's not really a significant world's first is it, nor a 'secret element'
April 4, 201312 yr comment_155772 It was significant when Thorpe did it... Better secret element than a washing machine...
April 4, 201312 yr comment_155775 14 inversions seems pretty significant to me, you've seen virtually all the track there is to see so I highly doubt we'll see any more surprises.... The washing machine stuff was just pure speculation that came out of the Alton Towers forums as a way of Alton beating the inversion record....obviously at that point the full plans had yet to be revealed.
April 4, 201312 yr comment_155776 What is this washing machine business, am I missing something? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy1agS8-7RQ
April 4, 201312 yr comment_155801 I hope it's something more than just an inversion record. For me personally it isn't that exciting. Colossus, yes... Don't ask me what exactly I AM expecting though as I have no idea, I haven't given it that much thought But yeah, something more unique than an inversion record.
