Just something what I've noticed more and more recently on not just these forums but various forums about the UK's parks is the slating of Merlin and it got me thinking are they really that bad? I know people don't like things such as paid fastrack but these are things which have been around way before Merlin got involved with Thorpe / Alton / Cwoa, and what business sense would it be for them to come in and but that what must be fairly high revenue stream? I think Merlin have actually done a pretty good job with "The big 3" of our parks since they took over.. At Towers we've had: Mutiny Bay - Much better than what was previously there, well themed and good area IMO …

The Trocadero isn't a place I ever went to, but hearing from all the attractions that used to be there such as Sega world, have made me interested in what this place was like. Here's a promotional video of the park, just before it opened in the mid nineties. Looks like it was quite an interesting place, shame it no longer exists.

It seems Paramount isn't the only new park heading our way http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/11121960.__100m_historical_leisure_park_with_stunning_nightshow_planned_for_Auckland_Castle/?ref=var_0 OK, it's not in the same sort of scale, but it does sound interesting. Especially the show aspect. Anyone been to Puy du Fou?

Was planning on putting this in the 'Parks / rides / news' topic but then realised it's locked So here's a new topic... The 226ft Mellors Starflyer has returned to the South Bank as of today and will be residing there until 29th September as part of the Wonderground. So if you're around the area pop on for a ride! The spinning mouse coaster has not returned for this year. Starflyer was priced at £7 last year though I am unsure of prices this year. Never have I seen it less than £6 at other locations.

Today the Some friends and I went to the Merlin Annual Pass Preview Day at The Trafford Centre, Manchester. I have done an annotated picture review of it. The photos arent as good as my usual photos. My camera is rubbish inside. The Sea Life itself is in a section of the Trafford Park. It is pretty well hidden. It was only when I moved closer I noticed it. Inside you are greeted and pay your entrance, get your photo. Then you go into 'The Turtle Experience'. Inside you are greeted by the above lady who explains to you all about turtles, starting with that they have been around since before Dino's existed. They use projection mapping on the floor to s…

There seems to be a massive lack of decent waterparks here in the UK. The only one I've ever been to here that was not basically a normal pool with a couple of flumes attached was called 'fantaseas' in Dartford. It was just amazing, a full continental style water park but mainly inside. As it closed sometime in the early 90's I don't expect anyone here to remember it, you'll have to take my word for it, it really was something else. The only other decent experience pools I've come across, although definitely not actual waterparks, are the domes at Centre Parcs. The one at Elveden especially is great fun with, the spectacularly rough and dangerous outdoor rapids the h…

Yes - finally, York has something worth going for (apart from its culture, it's beautiful city, it's railway and museum, it's Jorvic viking centre, it's Minster and it's Park & Ride systems).. It is.. the CHOCOLATE MUSEUM. Unfortunately, I am **** and do not provide photos. But seriously, in all seriousness, it's ace. It's like cadbury world, but about a billion times better (it helps that it wasn't opened in 1992). Learning about the history of chocolate, the history of chocolate in york, involving Rowntrees, Nestle and the Terrys brand. There are a couple of mentions of Cadbury and Kraft, but York hates them as Kraft are evil gits. So, what happens here? Wel…

Broadditch Farm plays host to an array of seasonal events. It is best known, however, for its amazing Halloween Event, Broadwitch Hauntfest. Nominated on numerous occasions for Screamie Awards, this humble farm near Bluewater, Kent is seriously making a name for itself in the Scare Industry.2010's Spooky Castle was arguably the best Scare Attraction in the UK, with amazing attention to detail in set, props, actors and their make-up. Michael Bolton- respected figure within the scare industry and also the man behind Scare Tour, stated that Spooky Castle was his personal favourite Scare Attraction of 2010, calling it, "perfect". As well as four, unique, intense "haunts" …

Sorry, but I need to have a rant and rave on this. Last week I went up to London for the day. I went to the Science Museum to find that attractions that I am waiting to see are still closed and may never re-open.Firstly, level 2 of the "launch pad" has been closed since about November last year. It was called digitopolis and is being refurbished. It was meant to open about April this year. Nothing has happened in almost a year. They have taken everything out of the floor, taken the "box sign" down that was hung up and lit. Why change this? This was fascinating, yet useful and knowledgable for kids!Secondly, the Food For Thought exhibition has been closed since the summer …

Today, I went to Beaulieu Motor Museum for the first time in about 15 years. I really enjoyed it. I love how the monorail goes through the museum!I went on the ride Wheels, all about cars through the years. It's not how I remember it as far as scenes go, yet it's still a classic. It smelt really funny in there, a bit like rubber. Nice smell, but it was nice to get away from it after a while.
