General Theme Park Discussion

  1. Hi guys. Some on here have been theme park enthusiasts for a very long time, and over a period of multiple years, you’re bound to learn a thing or two. Whether you’ve learned what you most enjoy or whether you’ve learned how to get the best out of a park or ride, years of visiting parks is bound to have taught you things and shaped your perspectives in some way. I know it certainly has for me! With this in mind, I’d be interested to know; what have you learned in your years as a theme park enthusiast? What have your years of park visiting experience taught you, and what new perspectives have you gained from years of coaster riding and park visiting? I’ll get t…

Hi all, As many of you know I do have a YouTube channel which contains many offride perspectives of both theme park and funfair rides. I am looking to create a wider range of videos including some onride videos of different funfair rides(and possibly theme park rides if the park allows). Currently, to film my videos, I will record by holding the camera without a wrist strap etc. What I am looking for is some sort of secure wrist strap so the camera will definitely not fall off. I am looking to take it onto the most extreme rides and improve my YouTube channel by having unique videos which others do not have. I will be off to my next visit VERY SHORTLY so w…

Hi everyone, I have decided to start a series of polls where you can do a series of votes being: Would you ever ride it? Would it fit in at an UK theme park? Would you put it in Thorpe Park? As we all know, the 2013 season has begun and the 2014 season will be here before we know it. People look for 'new' rides at theme parks not just gimmicks **cough** the swarm backwards **cough** so I am basically seeing what you guys would think would be a good new ride at a UK theme park. The rides I put in these polls will all be 'intense' and will be suited for the more extreme parks of the country mainly focusing at thorpe park. The first ride in the series of polls is flying ci…

Genuinely thought we had a Vekoma thread somewhere, but clearly not.. But it's fine, we need one... During this week's IAAPA, Vekoma are revealing 4 new generations of some of their coasters. Flying coaster is one of them (see Phantasialand), another one is the upgraded version of their SLC... Called the Suspended Thrill Coaster (STC), the new off-the-shelf model features two inversions and a significantly different layout. The last "new" SLC is set to open in China sometime over the next year or so I believe. After that, the STC takes over as the only off-the-shelf suspended model Vekoma will sell. Given that Ma…

What's the worst funfair ride you have ever been on?! Mine is Bugg's oblivion (KMG freakout) it has the same jingles over and over and does not go on for long!

Although I have an annual pass, I was just having a look at the merlin theme park's prices. Is it just me or are they ridiculously overpriced excluding 2 for 1 vouchers! Also do you think parks in the UK should have longer hours and be open till midnight like Disneyland is? Thanks guys...

  11. Hi guys. Often when at a theme park, you'll find an attraction you really like and want to reride it. Sometimes, you might even be inclined to ride it over and over. You might ride it as many times as you can hack, or as many times as you're able to queue for it for. So my question to you today is; what is the highest number of rides you've ever had on one attraction in a single day? I'll get the ball rolling with my answer. My current record is 6 rides on Silver Star at Europa Park, and this was set very recently, on 29th April 2022. For some idea of previous record holders, here's my top 3: Silver Star at Europa Park - 6 rides…

TBH I'm am rather annoyed that so many of englands top themed parks are owned by one company, not meaning it disrespectfully but I think it's holding back our themed parks.Other theme parks in toher countreis are owned by seperate companies and I feel that this is why they are to such a better standard than UK parks, I fele thats its because this Comapnies owns the parks we don't get as many new rides as other countries and some of the rides we get seem rushed becasue of this fact and there doesn't seem to be to much competition, I feel it would do britain a world of good to have it's theme parks owned by different companies. For instance if Thorpe Park where to be owned b…

I saw this topic in Coaster Force and though this could prove interesting. ‐----- For me the 2010s mean quite a few things depending upon which country or continent or even park I look at.Europe:The Good:I am extremely pleased that parks are developing more coasters which are focused on providing thrills rather than trying to break records or out-do other parks. Rides like the Smiler and Formula Rossa appear to outliers, and I'm pleased to see rides like Taron, Lost Gravity, Baron 1898, Wicker Man etc. being opened.Generally mainland Europe's parks have been doing well with some of my favourite major parks expanding with an array of different ride …

Hi guys. Europa Park and Phantasialand are Germany’s biggest, and arguably most revered, theme parks, and both of them get a high amount of praise from enthusiasts. But I’d be intrigued to know; which of the two do you personally prefer? I’ve visited neither, although I am rectifying that in April with my first visit to Europa Park, which I’m very excited about! But which park do you prefer? A similar thread done on another forum I’m on is currently seeing Phantasialand emerge victorious, but I’m intrigued to see how things play out on here!

Sorry guys for this being late, once again, but I just completely forgot about it! Anyway, lets get down to business You vote on these three questions: Would you ever ride it? Would it fit in at a UK theme park? Would you put it in thorpe park? The ride up this week is.... ROLLOVER! This is a ride designed by mondial and seats 40 people. As I said in the last topic, this ride is like a topspin. Except, it flips you sideways! The reason I have put this on instead of some zamperla windshear etc. is because we already have topspins at thorpe and this is like a topspin(for all those all wanted one) but it is on a new dimension And as mondial have said: 'The design of…

  20. Hi guys. You may remember the other day that I created a thread about parks you like more than most and parks you like less than most, and as a follow-up to that one, I thought it might also be fun to tackle that topic from the perspective of roller coasters; so, what are some roller coasters you like more than most and roller coasters you like less than most? I’ll get the ball rolling with some of my choices for each category… I could pull up quite a few nominees in both categories for this, but to keep it fairly short, I’ll stick to 5 coasters for each category. Coasters you like more than most Wicker Man, Alton Towers - To most, this is seemingl…

It's closed season again, which parks did you visit in 2019 and how many times? If you are visiting any parks over the winter these can be added in as and when! I'll start; Blackpool Pleasure Beach x8 Thorpe Park x5 Cedar Point x3 Phantasialand x2 Liseberg x2 Alton Towers x2 Kennywood x1 Six Flags Great Adventure x1 Coney Island x1 Kings Island x1 Toverland x1 Efteling x1 Walibi Holland x1 Duinrell x1 Oakwood 1 Tusenfryd x1 Quite a busy year for visiting parks abroad, less UK visits but still a few.

We've had top 10 coaster counts, we've had park counts, but what about your top 10 roller coaster manufacturers? I'll start with my current list, bearing in mind I haven’t yet visited many non-UK parks and am yet to ride an RMC (hence me not being able to judge them); 5. Intamin - They've produced some shockers and I'm not generally a huge fan of the UK collection we have, but they've also brought us some incredible rides such as Taron, and I'm sure with various ventures this year I'll get to ride some of their better rides. 4. Mack Rides - Their rich family values and innovative technology make them a special company, who have produced…

I was looking through the topics and realised there was no Aqualand topic, so I created one ,Aqualand is a chain water park with parks around Europe, there are none in the UK (makes sense since the weathers no good) they have parks in the Canary Islands, Portugal, Spain, and the south France, they have amazing water slides with some rides re-appearing at different parks,I have been to one in Spain before and it was great each park has a differen't style ride so all parks aren't the same, I am going to one in Portugal next week in the Algarve, Here is a link to their Algarve site (I can't find the official one, there is one, but I can't find it) Click,Discuss these amazing …
