As is well known, Italy has seen a whack of investment in it's theme parks of late. Gardaland saw the first of what is turning out to be a very successful product for B&M and a new theme park opened up near Rome. Being the canny git that I am, decision was made to visit Italy with the intention of seeing what the country has to offer. Benin, Peep and a theme park worker who I won't name ( ) all set off last Friday with this in mind. Trip itenary belowDay 1 - Fly to Rome, Hire car and see the sightsDay 2 - Rainbow MagiclandDay 3 - Drive to RevennaDay 4 - MiribilandiaDay 5 - Miribiliandia in the morning, drive to VeronaDay 6 - Verona rest dayDay 7 - GardalandDay 8 - D…

(Long Trip report)It's trips like this which make you see how pitiful the effort is in the UK. Yes, Wild Asia for British standards is pretty good and Alton Towers even bothering to do a single 30th birthday event is pretty commendable. But all of it falls down when Europa do this on a daily basis. I haven't been to Europa Park since 2006 and back then I was far more into rides then the experience. I've been known to say Europa doesn't have a signature ride, what it has is loads of really solid rides that come together to create a complete day out. Well now, in Blue fire they have a ride that is an icon ride, it is single handedly more enjoyable then any B&M or Intami…

Thought this was an interesting topic last year, so may as well do another one this year! So, what are your theme-park related plans for 2014? For me, there's chances of hitting up a couple of new UK parks. After not managing to fit a trip to Drayton Manor last year due to breaking my ankle, I'm very hopeful of getting my first trip in this year around summer-time. I'm hoping to make it to TPM's Oakwood trip this year as well, depending on dates and what exactly I'm up to during summer work-wise. There's also a slight possibility that I'll be making it to Adventure Island as well, though no idea with that one. Then, of course, a fair few visits to Thorpe, a couple…

Hello everybody! I guess some regulars here will know me as I've attended a meet and plan to visit Chessington with you this weekend. (otherwise I'm quite quiet apart from in the chat). Now, as a few of you are aware, this year exams end quite early. And being in exam season, I get essentially 13 weeks of summer holiday this year. Now, what normal rollercoaster enthusiast would spend this time sitting around twiddling thumbs and playing RCT3. Well the answer is me last year, but this year, after joining this wonderful community, I want to give something back, especially to people who are free, or my sort of age. This year, I plan to organise up to 3 mini meets, with me…

Basically guys, I'm going to Thorpe Park on wednesday (13th April 2011) and my mates have ditched me at the last minute. I have a merlin pass and I will be going, but how would you recomend I spend my day at 'The Nations Thirll Captial'?

Thought I'd start a topic regarding this, clearly there are a lot of us who are interested. For people that can, and want to go then we all need to get booked quickly. So basically, on the booking page, if you share a room with 4 people, it works out as £147.60 for the 2 nights with the AP discount.Sounds a lot, but remember that includes, free breakfast and evening meals for the two nights, unlimited access to Extraordinary Golf and the water park. Plus activities include, behind the scenes of Rita, Hex, and Thirteen. With talks from the Marketing director at Alton Towers, John Wardley and much more.Dates are Friday 13th March and Saturday 14th March.More info HERESo basi…

This past weekend I went to Paris to go to Parc Asterix, as the title so states...Anyways, late Friday night (10), me, peep and another person got on a coach from Victoria, and started out 7/8 hour journey towards Paris via the tunnel...We got there, and proceeded to get to the Louvre, where breakfast occurred, in typical fashion of trying out the local cuisine, I suggested McDonalds, but was horriffied to discover that the French don't believe in Sausage and Egg McMuffins, and have Bacon and Egg ones instead... Depressed times :unsure:After that, we attempted to find the coach that would take us to the park... Hidden down in the basement of the Louvre itself... Confusing…

A holiday that was meant to be for Valentine’s Day but there were just too many ride refurb spites. As it is we miss POTC on this one by one day . We also managed to grab a deal with two days and nights free. *starts the Disney 20th Anniversary album going on her iTunes* Day 1 - Monday 11th March Deciding that it was better to brave the worst of the rush hour and at least get into London, me and Benin set off for Victoria with me wearing my boots at the last minute instead of my trainers (which turned out to be a very good idea but more on that later). After a quick breakfast stop at Café Rouge (as if we weren’t going to France already) we headed up to St Pancras. A t…

[As Blogs are currently not working, I'm gonna pop all my trip reports into one easily accessible area. Love you all.] As some of you may know, I've been over in California for two weeks embracing the west coast. In that time Chris and I visited five new theme parks and went on some of the most well known rides out there. So to start off with; Six Flags Discovery Kingdom I don’t know many people that have been to this park so for me, it would live or die based on how my trip was to go. The day started relatively badly. A heavy hangover from the Eurovision celebrating the night before meant some hangover coffee and food was required from Starbucks. Nevertheless, we s…

Picture the scene. It's some point in 2021 and you're allowed to leave your house. You might even be allowed to leave your county. Depending on how much the rest of world hates us, you might even be allowed to go abroad! And you've decided to go to some parks... So yeah, Covid-pending, do you have any parks you'd like to get? For me, the following feels pretty achievable... -UK Merlin parks -Paultons Park (for Tornado Springs) -Phantasialand (for FLY) -Walibi Belgium and Plopsaland (hopefully at Halloween) I'd also like to do Hansa Park and Heide, as well as a trip to Europa; trips which were cancelled last year. But…

A trip designed to visit one of the lesser countries in Europe known for its parks, even if it has 6 big parks, including one of the most visited in the continent, not much ever seems to come out of Denmark, so as such, this trip was created, organised and visited. Day 1 - Arrival and Copenhagen We arrived in the afternoon to a warm and humid Denmark, a certain surprise to the 4 of us who were travelling along, and it wasn't long until we realised the Danish way of life was completely different to our own. Very laid back, no expectations and a good versing in foreign languages, leading us to just speak English all week, such is the way of life. We picked up the car, fo…

  17. First of all I've just joined this forum properly (though I've been looking on it for months, I've only just created an account) so if I've posted this in the wrong board then I'm sorry - I wasn't a hundred percent sure where it would go. So I'm planning a trip to Thorpe Park in about two weeks (9th and 10th of July). Needless to say I'm very excited for it. However, I have quite a few questions that I'm not sure on (first time going to Thorpe Park). Again, I wasn't sure where this would go but I presumed that me posting a ton of individual threads on Quick Questions wouldn't be the best idea, so I've put them all into one post. How much is it for…

In 12 hours, I'll be navigating my way through busy streets of a working day London, trying to embark on a mystical, magical, really really long 4 week trip to America! America, the land of Hershey, Hot Dogs, guns, awesome natural phenomenons and of course... theme parks! I plan (and probably won't follow) to take you on the journey with me as much as I can, by recording parts of my journey in pictures and write ups on this page! I'll try and post pictures from each major visit I go on... E.G. Each time I visit a new state, theme parks, natural wonders (like Niagra falls, Ucemity...) Hopefully my reviews and reports will give people an insight of what I enjoyed and…

  19. It was with great excitement that I set off with my mum and sister on the 25th July for our long-awaited summer holiday to New York, Washington DC and most of interest to me, Orlando! After going to Orlando last year I was very excited to return this year, and of course one significant addition is now present which wasn’t there last year…WARNING: I will be posting spoilers without any further warning. If you don’t want to see, skip my writing on that attraction.I doubt many are interested in the details of the first part of the trip, so on to Orlando! On the 30th we were off to Newark airport for the flight to Florida. We stayed in the same place as last year, so we jumpe…

Afternoon everyone!I got back from Florida last week, after literally the holiday of a lifetime. I'm feeling it now- I came crashing back down to reality so hard due to various reasons and circumstances at home and I'm finding it really hard. It'll be a little while before I'm back on the forums properly so please be patient with me whilst I work through things. With that said, I'd like to introduce you to my trip reports! I'm going to try and do things a little differently; I'm going to post summaries on here, so for people who want to just have a brief outline, they can read on here. 22. Hey there guys, Myself and a few of the team members from The Chessington Archives are planning a visit to Alton Towers at the beginning of the 2016 season in the hope of being some of the first (If not the first) people to be on The Smiler after it reopens in the new year! The proposed date is on the Saturday the 19th March 2016 (We'll be staying in the hotel the night before). Is anybody else planning on attending this year? If so would people be interested in having a little rendezvous the night before and joining us in the park the following day? Let us know! Ben The Chessington Archives

We do not have a topic for Merlin's second best opening hours theme park?! How is this possible. I;ll start us off.If you know me, you know I hate Legoland. With its branding getting in the way of interesting and original themes, it was never my favourite park to visit. On my first visit, queueing 40 minutes for a Rocky Express clone seemed ludicrous, an hour for a wildmouse that dies after its first drop? Seriously? So we wind round to 2012. Since my last visit to Legoland, I've got a bit older, that bit wiser and was willing to give Legoland another chance. One because its had a few new rides and two, the boyfriend forced me to go.So we rolled up about 11:20.I give em on…

For ever believing the rubbish the enthusiast community spits out about you, I apologise. PortAventura, I'm on my knees, I beg you, please forgive me. This weekend just gone, me and my friend made our first ever trip to PA, a trip that's been years in the making, that kept getting put off, in part due to lack of interest but also due to reading lots of negative things online, well those people were doing it wrong and here's why....
