Fred
Thorpe are aiming at the older families with kids who are over 1.4m. That's what they've said they're aiming at. So yes, they're opening rides and getting stuff available for those which have just under 1.4m kids, so they have stuff to do, they're not aiming at those exclusively so don't need to put the other attractions in. So they're advertising the thrill rides in a more family friendly way, if you get me. Flipper
Marc
http://thorpeparkmania.co.uk/news/30-03-2014/Weekly-Roundup Latest news from the park over the last week! Inferno and Cal
AdventureRyan
Excellent news report as always! I do hope they do something to the exterior of Amity Fish & Chips, it really does look like a temporary 'portakabin' building, the steps leading to it don't match and it has no real styling to it. The plans showed the diner style facade continuing with this extension, yet this has yet to appear. I love the style of Amity Speedway, I just hope it isn't tarnished by this new building if it is left how it is.
Fred
http://accesso.com/loqueue-overview/q-bot/Lol. Lo-Q (or their new name accesso) now run their whole ticketing system it seems. Online and soon.. fastrack style things. Yay. Flipper
Flipper
Took me ages to see the reference then, for anyone who doesn't see it like I didn't Fred's referring to the Lo-Q Bot promo image about halfway down that shows Colossus, Detonator and Fish on it's screen. But we knew something like this was coming to be fair, as we were aware of the park trialling a new ticketing system...

Benin
Q-Bots are a decent system in my experience... Would love to see Swarm's batcher deal with them though, they struggle enough now with the non time-consuming Fastrack tickets now in use... Cal
Do you think they will still have Fast tracks on top of this? What do you lot think the payment will be like, will it be that you can hire out one of these for a day, or a certain amount of time?
OldFarmerDean
I'm guessing it will be done using your smartphone, not hiring anything out?
Fred
I dunno, they've deliberately put those on the Qbots and on their phone app style there's literally no mention of thorpe in anything. I think they'd be getting qbot as a seperate thing like.. maybe they'll use this as well as ticketing thing. But who knows. Hopefully they don't do fastrack on top. Universal does it and it's essentially everyone goes fastrack one way or another and everyone else is stuck in a non-moving queue.
Coaster
I hope they are expensive and not many are sold.
Flipper
I have a feeling that this will be launched with bots and the smart phones - because the technology can be ran in co-operation with each other. I believe Flamingo Land run the bots as an 'unlimited' device, and offer packages and one-shots via smartphone.
Cal
I just want them to scrap both, I mean I know it obviously won't happen but it just means that the normal ques literally won't move at all. pluk
JoshC.
Entrance improvements ahoy! - http://thorpeparkmania.co.uk/news/10-04-2014/Entrance-Improvement-Plans Hopefully this is the first step to a totally new entrance structure; would like to see the main ticket section given a bit of TLC soon too. Marc
Looks good - it all looks pretty dated now think this will brighten things up a bit!
Matt 236
Looks a good addition to me, was thinking the entrance could do with some improvements as it currently a bit worn and dated.
Benin
So is this effectively hiding the rather out-dated and tatty entrance?
SteveJ
Yes, Thorpe Park can't do architecture anymore, so their entrance will now be a massive TV advert instead. Demolish the building and start again please, don't just hastily cover it up. It should have been replaced years ago but seems doomed to be recycled forever. AdventureRyan
It certainly seems that way, the new signage doesn't even make an attempt at looking nice, its literally just plonked right in front of the current building, I can only image what a mess the supports fro the new signs and the current supports will look like together. Marc
I can't see a full new entrance till they eventually get a full scale hotel. Till then I think any investment which improves what there is at the moment as a good thing OldFarmerDean, StealthRider, holtjammy16 and 1 other

pluk
Till then I think any investment which improves what there is at the moment as a good thing Will it improve it though? The entrance is a bit tired and crappy, that's true enough, but it is at least tidy and has a little bit of character... (ThorpeParkJack) I was thinking I can't see how sticking a big flat screen and banner over that three dimensional building won't look like a mess, but looking at that pic against the plans I suppose if it is the same width as the front of the canopy it could look quite neat actually. Sidders
Nah I'm not buying it; the tart-up or the advertisements said tart-up will broadcast. I'm agreeing with pluk's fear here, that it will look ugly, like it was so painfully evidently bolted on years after the original building was erected. It's just so Thorpe though, to not bother doing it to any aesthetic par Disney or Universal might commit to, and yet claim they're worthy of being mentioned in the same breath. I don't understand why they think it'll improve the look just by plonking something modern and distracting in front of something old and bland. It really doesn't work like that. JoshC.
I can see people's concerns about all of this. However, I do feel that they'll be unfounded. The image pluk posted is great for visualising this. The screen will be between the two middle pillars and be about two thirds of the way up the 'window' in the middle. The side posters will cover the rest of the canopy and reach to the 'towers'. I tried to do a sort of mock up image, but given my terrible photo-editing skills, it just didn't look good. It will bring a bit of vibrancy to the entrance area I think, but the main shape and look of this entrance bit won't really be affected. It's of course not the most convenient or best option for the park (a complete revamp of the entrance has been wanted and needed for ages), but it's still an alright move for, hopefully, a shorter term basis.
