Posted June 12, 201411 yr comment_185191 A couple of snaps of the FlowRider which started to go up yesterday. If the weather stays good can see it being a pretty fun addition to the side of the beach which is rarely used now.
June 12, 201411 yr comment_185193 Flow Riders look uber cool. I wants a go Do we have any information on what the upcharge will be for it? (I assume there will be an upcharge with it being such a slow throughput attraction.)
June 12, 201411 yr comment_185197 It fits in with the Flying Fish being surfer themed although it is meant to be in a different area.
June 12, 201411 yr comment_185198 It fits in with the Flying Fish being surfer themed although it is meant to be in a different area. It's not part of an area, its not part of a theme, its just an addition to the attractions on offer for summer. God, everything always has to tie in with another ride here, not always! I reckon the charge will be sky high, something absurd like £5/£6
June 12, 201411 yr comment_185200 The Flow rider looks a great addition to the park for the summer and should be lots of fun. Want to try and give this ago at somepoint, eventhough I'll fail miserably at it.
June 12, 201411 yr comment_185202 I reckon the charge will be sky high, something absurd like £5/£6 I was thinking a fiver would be about right. I think it's a great idea, but not sure enough adults come with swimwear for it to be very successful.
June 12, 201411 yr comment_185206 (not sure what this was doing in summer nights, so moved it here) Wetsuit? Thought these were used with normal swimwear? You'd need your own swimwear inside anyway. I see a Thorpe Park merchandising opportunity, branded TP towel and swimwear set.
June 13, 201411 yr comment_185258 I thought it would be for the crash pad'ers I think that it'd be used mostly by those who are staying at Thorpe Shark, to me it seems like great fun but you'd obviously get soaked, and as a female that's the worst thing that could happen really. I personally wouldn't want to walk around Thorpe for the rest of the day with wet hair etc. So I think this'll appeal more to those who'll be staying overnight- as they don't have to travel far to have a shower/dry off and stuff, or boys to be honest. But I'm sure Thorpe will still make quite a bit from it and it's a great addition for summer!
June 15, 201411 yr comment_185320 I swear I heard someone saying its already open, where is its facade?
June 19, 201411 yr comment_185522 From Thorpe's Facebook: Here'a a little teaser of what's coming this weekend to THORPE PARK! FlowRider anyone? So it's opening this weekend then!
June 19, 201411 yr comment_185534 On one of the comments on Facebook THORPE said its gunna cost £25 each, I don't know if that's good as I've never been on one before to know the rough price but that's still a lot to cough up per person once you're there
June 19, 201411 yr comment_185540 £25!!! twenty five whole pounds!!! they expect £25 on top of £50 to get in plus £3-70 on fastracks. I was expecting £6 max not £25. That is extortionate. I'm struggling to come to terms with that price it is so much. How long is it becuase if its until you fall off that is stupid. Even 5 minutes that is a stupid price.
June 19, 201411 yr comment_185544 I didn't believe that, but fb confirms. Wow. I'll be amazed if they get anyone on it for that. It's actually cheaper to get on a plane and fly to a nice wavey beach for the day!
June 19, 201411 yr Author comment_185547 TBH I'm not sure if its a good price or not as I've not been on one before to compare, I wonder if its ran by HB Leisure? I expect they will quickly adjust the pricing (up or down!) depending on the demand.
June 19, 201411 yr comment_185551 £25 seems very steep, but the value depends on how long you get IMO. If you get 15 - 20 minutes then it's not so bad, but if it's simply the first time you fall off that's your go over then it's very expensive!
June 19, 201411 yr comment_185553 Let's remember the original costs of Summer Nights, £15 for AP holders, £18-20 for non-AP holders. Thorpe do respond to these things, and if it's shown that it's too expensive for people to want to do it, they'll possibly adjust prices.
June 19, 201411 yr comment_185554 well considering how bad the throughput is going to be, and say you get 5 minutes for £25, it's not too bad - like vertigo at oakwood.
June 19, 201411 yr comment_185561 well considering how bad the throughput is going to be, and say you get 5 minutes for £25, it's not too bad - like vertigo at oakwood. Vertigo at Oakwood has always struck me as way overpriced considering that it's in a theme park that you have already paid entry for. It's a shame as I really want to do Vertigo but can't justify the price!
June 19, 201411 yr comment_185562 it would usually be full though... so as there is a VERY LIMITED number of guests that can use it per day, the high price is justifiable to the company. it's a case of demand and availability which decides the price.
June 19, 201411 yr comment_185564 Construction update - It was testing today and at the back they have now added changing rooms. I'm guessing that they will supply a wet suit there seeing as a lot of people don't know it's there therefore won't bring a wet suit when going to Thorpe Park (Photos are from southparks facebook page) To be honest I don't think 25 is that bad considering the throughput that it has, but of course this is dependent on how long you get. Hopefully you will get a time limit, and for 25 I think the minimum you should get is around 10-15 mins. If it does last 10 -15 mins and you get to borrow a wet suit there I will probably give it a go and can see it doing quite well.
