Liam T
Mention last night, the of the main reasons people don't think we will have lap bars is because of the amount of Inversions & tightness or the ride, SW7 has 8 compared to the 4 of Iron Shark and the 3 of Dare Devil Dive It be a nice idea, but unsure if it will happen! Stokesyboy
TT have posted a picture of the destruction of the Black Hole tent on there facebook looks like things are well underway then!
JackR
Here is the picture: As bought up over on TTF, should be interesting to see where all the things stored in the Black Hole tent will go, and I also wonder where they were relocated to when CoS and BH were housed in the tent last October? AdamY
Things are starting to get exciting! Considering a month or so ago I didn't give a damn about SW7, that's pretty good going That new video does make it look very nice with all the industrial landscaping etc.
Joegibbon
Considering a month or so ago I didn't give a damn about SW7 This is exactly how I felt, with The SWARM just opening and everything Good to see the Black Hole area being put to good use. Liam T
If that was done in a day, I think we will have no tent by next weekend Credits to coasterforce Cornflakes
AdamY
It's weird, the tent looks huge but it's still hard to imagine a whole new coaster on that plot. Still, Island C never really looked big enough to me so maybe I'm not a very good judge
Cornflakes
Did a quick mock-up of SW7's track design according to the plans; Strangely enough, It looks a lot like Intamin's new Mega Coaster track design, I've always found Gerstlauer track has been almost identical to Intamin's, Could they be taking it a step further with SW7? AdamY
Don't think so; it also looks fairly similar to Maurer's, and Vekoma's latest as well. Pretty generic tubular design really.
Tom
^Agree Plus, on plans doesn't all coaster track look the same?

Tom
Green and Yellow tent makes me sad Sorry, but how old were you when the tent was green and yellow?!
Fred
I am 21, and the tent is definitely green and yellow in that picture
Tom
I can see that thanks As in, why does the green and yellow tent make him sad if he was 2/3 when it was green and yellow?
Cornflakes
I can see that thanks As in, why does the green and yellow tent make him sad if he was 2/3 when it was green and yellow? Probably because its his home park, and a bit of its history is just being ripped out. Its like I was sad when CCR was closed, its understandable. Mark9
From theme park guide Genuinely feels like the end of an era there. Loved the Black Hole, so it was good of Alton to keeps its carcass there for 7 years.
AstroDan
We're actually lucky that they never installed anything in there. Plans were drawn up several times for new rides within! None of which would have been as good as what is now being proposed.
Benin
Depends what kind of things really, it's hard to tell sometimes with plans what would be good or not...
AstroDan
Well there were robo arm plans, some strange flat ride plans and a major show plan. All of which would have been well themed, but an 8-looping coaster is pretty hard to beat, really. What really makes me positive about this move, is that the site of SW7 was not one of the sites identified in the Long Term Plan consultation a few years ago. So it almost feels like bonus coaster ground!
Graeme
Or a rushed "quick, let's pack one in there" ground.....
Benin
Not really rushed is it? And besides, as Dan said, it's good to see that location actually getting something rather than a rotting corpse...
AstroDan
Or a rushed "quick, let's pack one in there" ground..... I wouldn't say it is rushed. Initial plans for the ride were applied for in December, and work to put the application together will likely have begun several months earlier. All in all, I would say the process from start to finish will be around 18 months, with planning granted a full year before opening. Rita was far, far more "rushed" - in fact it was around 9 months from start to finish!
