January 20, 201312 yr comment_148542 That video scared the crap out of me, I skipped to the end after the first 10 seconds or so and now I am too scared to watch the rest of it! I'm still not sure if I like The Smiler as a name either. It just doesn't seem to suit the ride regardless of how in context it is. We know that whilst smiling does have something to do with the story, it is not the main theme so I would prefer a name to do with TMOJ. Sombody on Towers Street said 'The Ministry' which I think is a great name; I feel a name along those lines would suit this ride a lot better than something like 'Oblivion' or 'Nemesis'...
January 20, 201312 yr comment_148545 Well the video kinda sounds legit a Facebook page called getcorrected has been created in like the last 2 hours The video is already being mentioned in the Alton Towers Facebook with the Getcorrected liking the comment so it may be part of it but like a side Page much like les coogen during 2011 for the swarm? And the video has been taken down now but is available on the getcorrected Facebook. Edited January 20, 201312 yr by Tommy Triple post.
January 20, 201312 yr comment_148549 I'm running out of steam on this... I'd prefer an opening date to knowing what the ride will be called!
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148557 metro.co.uk/2013/01/21/eweve-been-framed-creepy-sheep-twitter-mystery-solved-3359300/ It's official - the name is 'The Smiler'. I expect more stuff today / this coming week!
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148560 Alton Towers has definately confirmed it I dont really like the name, seems more jokey than serious, almost going completely against 'The Sanctury'. Ahh well, The Smiler.
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148561 Sounds more like a children's ride, that's my issue with it! Better name than Rita I guess! As for stealth...I still think the park was going for irony, it's their tallest ride but there is nothing "stealthy" about it!
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148562 One thing I noticed in the video, its not 'World's Beating' its 'World's First'. So maybe their doing both, a worlds beating, worlds first, or the special element is a world's first.
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148566 Unlike some people, I don't actually mind the name. You just have to get away from the childrens aspect of it and think of it more in a sinister, creepy kind of view. I admit it is not ideal but am glad it is not just one of those predictable names like the 'Deomonator' or something along those lines. I will willing to try and get used to it.
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148577 And the spider is still in the artwork, so they're definitely putting it in. Awesome.
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148579 OTSRs it is then? Loving the artwork, really shows off what I think they were trying achieve!
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148583 Will you learn from the Lexicon. All will be revealed soon. From the Getcorrected page. Lexicon? What does a lexicon have to do with anything?
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148584 That page is fake. Lexicon is probably what he calls his penis. The website isn't though, and lexicon does exist. Probably still penis based.
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148585 OTSRs it is then? I mentioned this elsewhere, but I don't think you should read too much into the OTSRs. I'm convinced it's just a simple marketing trick to help enforce the idea of the ride being a wild inverting beast.

On the other hand, surely if it were to have lapbars they would really want to push that commercially? No point avoiding a really good push of something that will make a huge difference to the ride experience... Also... ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL ABOARD!
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148588 On the other hand, surely if it were to have lapbars they would really want to push that commercially? No point avoiding a really good push of something that will make a huge difference to the ride experience... But wouldn't a concept like that be wasted on the general public? To most people, The Smiler is just something which goes upside down all the time, and used to be known as the Black Hole...
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148589 But why essentially 'lie' about having OTSRs when you could shout about having lapbars? Especially when the difference WILL play on the minds of the guests as lapbars aren't used on massive looping rides... The whole sense of freedom and the like would be a major thing to sell on the ride with of course that all time favourite sense of danger... It would make sense that if it had lapbars then the artwork would have lapbars (then again, so far this year none of the parks have made sense)... It having lapbars was always relatively unlikely given the UK H&S levels and general attitude towards coasters, it was more a hope than a fact...
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148590 Anything could happen I guess, it's only promotional art.. promotional art that has differing numbers of rows on different trains...
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148591 No it doesn't. It's got 8 rows on both trains. Awkward. Why did I think this was acceptable. Both trains should have 4 rows. Harnesses are a big thing in concept art, it'll have OSTRs.
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148592 I don't mean to cause a problem, but I definitely only see 4 rows on the train inverted over the 'spider'. Not that it's important.
January 21, 201312 yr comment_148595 The Smiler works really well as a name. I am reminded by what Roald Dahl writes in The Witches:"What makes her doubly dangerous is the fact she doesn't look dangerous".
