I still feel like they should have called Lumber Jump Loggers Leap. Perfect fit for the ride. Would have been even better if they made a big deal about it and said 'Loggers Leap now open' on social media, with a photo of the logo proudly placed on top of the ride, but not showing said ride.3 points

Just come off walking dead the ride and wow! I think I counted 8 actors just in the exit corridor. It must be in prep for FN as both the pre show and corridor leading up to the station were different too, but I won’t ruin it for y’all.2 points

I'd be interested to hear more, as IMO the original soundtracks were far better than the IMAScore ones.2 points

You will never know the frustration and the ridiculousness of the true story of audio at Thorpe Park. The whole sorry mess, from a long forgotten relationship with a once industry leader in site wide audio systems; to the only governance over what music actually plays across the park being down to whoever shouts the loudest at any given time is just the tip of the iceberg. Fundementally, all there really is to say is that Merlin are not and will never be a production company and as a result have very little industry competency when it comes to professional audio, video and lighting; theatrical technical systems which make such a stark contrast between them and theme park industry leaders, or audio/music that augments and is designed for the experience rather than a complete and underbudgeted after thought. You’ve all enjoyed music in the past that Thorpe Park / Merlin never really had the legal right to play to a mass audience in a commercial environment. You’ve all heard tracks that you can’t find anywhere other than Mania’s old audio libraries or YouTube because they were created in someone’s bedroom. Colossus and Nemesis Inferno? If only you knew. Be grateful for what you have. One day, creative audio will once again be a priority at Thorpe Park and seen as a contributing factor to excellence in guest experience. Until then, literally it is luck of the draw on any given visit. Let’s hope Nick has specified the sample rate of his compositions so that they play at the correct pitch across the island.2 points

Fright Nights 2018 - General Discussion

Probably The Walking Dead : The Ride Extreme or something similar. Its practically half scare maze already. Just put some more panda eyed actors in old boiler suits and there you go, extreme!1 point -
Blair Witch was testing as I came off Inferno earlier, heard some audio and acting and the lights were on. All the entrances and queues are up, aside from Do or Die, which was still being put together as we were there, and Amity High, which there is no sign of at the moment although there was one temporary fence up in the entrance to what I think is the Sunken Gardens behind Stealth. Not sure how long ago they were put up (or how many of you would've seen them) but I have pictures if you'd like?1 point

Don’t blame IMAScore for any lack of creativity on a score. Think about what sort of brief they might have received ...1 point

RIP the atmospheric Colossus and Nemesis Inferno old school soundtracks!! I do love a lot of what Imascore do (Big Top,Helix,Wickerman and Taron ETC) but I also find a lot of what they do quite bland and lacking in atmosphere. Yes they make long soundtracks but just because something has a longer lasting time does not make it better.... otherwise by that logic, The Attack of the Clones is a better movie than The Empire Strikes Back.1 point -
So here we go... enough people have ridden both to vote now so which do you prefer? Is it Mack's finest at Blackpool, an airtime filled machine that dives in and out of other rides at Blackpool or the intimate, well themed, atmospheric Wicker Man which sees a return to form for an Alton Towers rollercoaster. Which is your favourite?1 point

The ultimate question

Wickerman by the skin of its teeth for me. That is largely down to the fact that I find Icon in any row other than the back to be painfully dull. Both coasters to me are 6/10 rides but I just prefer the overall feel of Wickerman when you throw the smoke, fire and interactions with the Wickerman effigy into the mix.1 point -

I hope this is sarcasm... The Nick Hutson pieces suck... I really don’t like the park’s decisions regarding audio recently. Removing the original Inferno, Rumba and Colossus/Lost City pieces in favour of very bland, generic and unatmospheric IMAscore tracks was a very poor move. The entrance theme is certainly very nice, and a vast improvement; I just wish there wasn’t this brand-obsessed idea of redoing all the music to feature that one park jingle. Homogenising the park for the sake of fan service is not a good idea... Fright Nights too, the old Midnight Syndicate tracks that they used to play were great. The Asylum’s music was . From what I’ve heard of the Hutson music (2017 Dragon Falls mix, Pandamonium and Molly Crowe), it’s all just as unimaginative as IMAscore’s anyway, just without the glossy overlay. So this isn’t really much of an improvement.1 point -
Stealths third train is for maintenance, due to the intense complexity of the ride, its impractical to overhaul/check/maintain the track, launch system, electronics and 2 trains. so to ease the burden on the staff the third train is overhauled during the open season in slow time, this means they only need to do one train in closed season as well as the rest of the ride.1 point

Blimey! Was expecting you to be upset it isn't IMAScore! ?1 point

The MAP group aren't happy bunnies with regards to the Annual Pass Preview not being exclusive. I can see it being a recipe for disaster only allowing people with MAPs into the mazes with non MAP holders kicking off etc... Or is that just me? Also please tell me it's not just me that's on the MAP group just to check out the sheer ridiculousness levels of entitlement on there.... But then the same could be said for #enthusiasts sometimes I suppose ?1 point
