I think we need another thread on rants over dark rides and their facades.

This just ruined one of the best Disney rides for me.

I advise you don't search for Disney Parks on Google Maps then.

Even from the top of Summit Plummet you can kind of make out all that structure behind Everest. You've just ruined the magic toofpik. Still.. could be worse..

 

 

 

Bit OT but just what is that? I remember seeing that monstrosity when visiting and thinking WTF...

It's the showbuilding. They sort of just gave up theming halfway. You can see the white from the Jurassic park area as well if I remember rightly.

It doesn't help that the queue extension is right next to it. It is bizarre that it wasn't even painted a colour to match the castle or even that Rowling hasn't complained about it.

Well, this makes those backsides to Disney's heavily themed rides a lot more forgivable, at least they are in areas outside of the park where only few will see it.

That though sticks out more than Storm Surge ever could.

No, since Storm Surge reminds you of it's presence constantly throughout your day, you could easily not notice FJ's shed...

Back on the topic of WC16... Lots of activity on site today... Saw a big hole and foundations going in from Slammer, plus got a few photos.

Well if you notice the metal barrier and canvas in the bottom left corner, he clearly took this from Storm Surge (aka. Storm Turd/Splorm Spurs etc. etc. etc. )

Does TPM care if people take photos from Storm Surge's lift hill, given it takes half a hour?

Storm Surge was blatantly put there so nerds could see construction for this ride, it all makes sense now!!

There's finally a silver lining to Storm Surge's existence, at least for now!

I spy, with my fanboy eye, a large hole...

 

 

The hole is presumably required to fit the attraction inside the building structure - the revised plans show it to be just over 2m deep (http://www.totalthorpepark.co.uk/images/other/2016revisedsideview.jpg). Looks as if they've already hit the water table!

I guess we won't see major vertical construction until at least September/October time

Judging by the hefty ground work we've seen so far, I think it's looking pretty fees able for an early summer opening now (maybe June), though that's not a bad thing as I expect to be hammering on with my final uni year March-may.
