Daniel.S312
I went on Friday 14th Aug and it was still in pieces everywhere and no sign of anything being done on it. I actually starting to think they may refurb it again and send it back to Chessie.
Matt10
I went on the Saturday and through the day they were taking up a load of the flooring and doing stuff in the control room when loggers leap was working, so not for long. Cal
Any news on Samurai's current state? Is it still dismantled? Are all the parts still there or have they been sent off somewhere?
Mattgwise
It is still dismantled in exactly the same way as shown in the picture a couple of pages back. Cal
holtjammy16
Ultimately it's a good and popular ride. Buy a new one, they're not expensive in the scheme of things, run it properly and be comfortable with the fact it'll have to be binned in 10 years. The cost of investment per year of operation would still be quite low.  hoping they do this  Daniel.S312
Daniel.S312
I am hoping they just replace it with another Top Scan such a good ride.
Matt10
I agree just as long as it is properly themed, no fairground lights definitely, and it is an upgrade, meaning the cycle is better but its lifetime will be better with higher reliability then the current model. RobF
It had several engineers working on the hydraulics unit at the back yesterday but it was still in pieces. Its not unheard of to put a topscan up in a day, but this is Thorpe so I doubt it was rebuilt and open today ....

Matt10
Does anyone know if more work has been done recently, and its current state and on that note if it looks like it may be able to re open for fright nights?

Matt10
Typical... Just following its Chessington origins... Aka not making it to the end of the season like the majority of cwoa rides....

Matt10
New for 2017 at cwoa: Even less attractions open and every one must be closed by law for at least four months per operating season..... JoshuaA
GladiatorFanKyle
I believe Samurai could be out of action for even longer due to a recent incident at Fantasy Island where the main arm on THE BEAST top scan started to move before it was fully raised and it nearly hit the control box and it smashed through the floor. Mondial is looking at all other top scans so Samurai will have to be looked at as well.

Mondial is looking at all other top scans so Samurai will have to be looked at as well. The main difference between The Beast and Samurai is The Beast is always operated on manual (which is the only way the incident on it can occur) whereas as far as I know Samurai is always run on one of the pre-programmed cycles. I wouldn't be surprised if Mondial do have a look at it in relation to this incident but I would have thought that will only occur once it has been rebuilt. Ricky
Oh well, Samurai is currently being studied by a group of archaeologists because it's so old. Get rid of it. Ian-S, Cal, Kerfuffle and 2 others

Altitude
This is a random question hardly related to Samurai... Â You know the Bling rides that are like Samurai on a stick and it spins, are they actually fun to ride? There's one at my local goose fair and I don't know whether it's worth the extortionate fee to ride!
