SteveJ
The trains were entirely deconstructed as various points throughout the season, so they've had more than just a bit of TLC. But aesthetically and operationally they are the worst things ever built - there are plans to replace them and possibly reroute the track but then there are a million other amazing plans that are all shelved HermanTheGerman and jon81uk
lewumbrajumbos
Only Vampire, Kobra and Griffins shut today and they are offering free returns at the entrance! Not bad in my opinion

Adam P
Had a really good day at the park today, there were a few breakdowns but just adjusted the route around the park accordingly. The park was busy with a lot of people complaining at guest services about the rides which were advertised as being closed, even though they were handed free ticket returns. Kobra seems to be having a wheel mechanism replaced I'd imagine its going to have a few days down, disappointed Bubbleworks has had no work done (except the wall at entrance finally painted) over this extended closed period. lewumbrajumbos
SteveJ
Not sure what people were expecting for BubbleWorks, it needs a full refurbishment not a couple of small touch ups during downtime. There's not much that can be done on set while its in engineering anyway. Even with its current guise there's a lot that could still be improved, very simply and effectively if it was handed to people with enough passion. Benin
In possibly some of the strangest news so far this year, it would appear that Chessie will now be closing at 7pm during the Summer Holidays... Project LC
Is that later than normal?
HermanTheGerman
^ They used to close at 6pm. But they extended it so many times last year that is seems very logical to make it standard closing. It's funny, Chessington have better opening times than Towers... Project LC
Towers is a joke at the moment. Later opening times allows people to justify a longer journey. So more customers, so more money. Especially if they are in the middle of no where. Chessington has taken a step in the right direction alton however has taken 2 steps back. Ian-S
Does anybody know where the AP building is at Chessington? One of the staff at Thorpe told us to go back to our home attraction and get our passes reprinted since "none of the new passes issued by Chessington" scanned at the turn styles, but we haven't been to our home attraction aside from a 10 minute pop-in a few weeks back lol. Benin
Next to the toilet block at the main entrance, dunno about the second entrance... As for Towers' opening times, I've always wondered how much of that is down to the locals not particularly being enthralled with the idea of thousands of cars trudging through Alton village at dinner time... pognoi
The place for your AP queries is the Lodge gate turnstyle building on the left hand side past the ticket huts.
Project LC
Alton offers so many jobs to the local area... They really need to start considering how much money Alton brings to the area.

Coaster
7pm for a park of Chessington's stature is acceptable. Any less would be poor, but I've got to respect Chessington for this, they are making a certain park in Staffordshire look very silly! AstroDan
Alton Towers nearly always closes earlier than Thorpe, Legoland and Blackpool. Whilst it's annoying, it takes about 90 minutes post ride close to clear the park of guests. At Thorpe it takes 15-20 and Chessington not much more... Matt 236
Random Post Alert! I was just thinking, seeing how run down & poor Tomb Blaster is these days, if they could ever refurbish it to something like Ramesis at Gardaland. The ride there like Tombs involves gun shooting and everything, is heavily themed and also features lots more effects. Just an idea, but could work quite well if they were to ever consider it. HermanTheGerman
Shoot-em-up rides are so boring and overrated. They are one of the most forgetful ride types around. I'd rather the money for a Tomb refurb be put elsewhere.

JoshC.
Some may have heard of rare gold pop badges that you can get at Chessington. Well, one had made its way onto eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121612129684 Good to see it's going cheap... pognoi and Jack F
