c1hrisin
It also felt a lot more lighter in there than usual. Maybe that's because there is now a floodlight in it? Also that theming actually made the waterfall better, you can see how it drags on the water mixing it up a bit rather than the clean edge it is now
OldFarmerDean
The floodlight wasn't on yesterday, and couldn't even manage to see where it was, as it was pretty dark in there... And themeing on Tue inside of the bend opposite the waterfall has been covered over with a black sheet!!
pluk
And themeing on Tue inside of the bend opposite the waterfall has been covered over with a black sheet!! It's been like that for a couple of years, with rope lighting draped over it that is never on any more.
OldFarmerDean
It's been like that for a couple of years, with rope lighting draped over it that is never on any more. oh I could have sworn I seen the rope lighting on more recently and that it was over what is now covered up, and from what I could see it literally just is a black cloth with no rope light over it? pluk
Now you've said it I'm thinking maybe it was like that actually.

Yeah, I'm sure the rope lighting was there before the black sheet, just put over the theming. Why not just light up the theming?
pluk
Why not just light up the theming? Because it's blackcurrants. And because it's crap. c1hrisin and HermanTheGerman
Coaster
The hut (photo booth) was covered in scaffolding today, not sure what's wrong with it. (Ride was still open though).
alexander
waiting for the day they get rid of the garish green and purple queue line which lasts half a season before it's all cracked again #justiceforthunderriver
Cal
Anyone have any idea why the photo booth is covered in scaffolding and as a result is obviously not open? Don't think they would get rid of the photos on this ride because 1) it always takes good, clear photos 2) why would they do it mid season? Marc
I saw all the roof has been taken off, id guess a problem has come up which needs to be fixed as soon as possible
AdventureRyan
(It's an awful image edit I know) My idea for the restyling of Rumba; It takes on a tropical theme, similar to it's neighbour Inferno and takes design cues from Hollister stores and tropical travel. The garish green and purple is gone, replaced by faded blue and dark wood textures and clean cream plaster. The bridge has a new ceramic tile roof and the front is boarded up and plastered over, the ride logo moves to here, each letter a coppered metal, the same metal makes the lighting either side of the sign, a metal chandelier is hung within. The addition of large planters surround the entrance in a dense foliage. Doc, paige, pluk and 5 others

One thing is for sure which is that it is in dire need of a refurbishment, they have the hardware (for example the waterfall inside the tunnel) but they are hiding it away in darkness which is, in my opinion madness! Toby Tidal Wave
Well with the parks new image, hopefully this ride has a bit of tlc which is needed! I don't mind the purple/ green colour scheme, it's just the way the park have let it rot away! OldFarmerDean
paige
The colour scheme isn't too bad, as I guess it fits with the 'bright' tropical vibe they've tried to create. But I think the colour scheme Ryan has suggested would make it fit into the Calypso Quay area much better and it'd be more obvious that that and Inferno are both in the same area, as to me I feel as though there's just Inferno, then Rumba Rapids, not Inferno and Rumba Rapids as a collective; a similar colour scheme would definitely make the association more noticeable. Cal
Although a re-theme would be good, even with a re-theme, I can never see this ride being great. After riding the rapids at Alton towers last weekend, I just released how bad Rumba actually is, it doesn't exactly do a lot. The rapids at Alton towers doesn't have a lot of effects or is well themed, but I had a lot of fun on it, a lot more fun than I'd have on Rumba anyway
Ricky
You've clearly never been on Khali river rapids at Disney then, that one goes in a relatively small circle with a small drop in, massive disappointment!
Bubbles1
On the bright side, it could be worse... We could have the Popeye rapids from universal. I still have nightmares
Mitchada04
Popeye is brilliant much much much better! I'd have that any day over Rumba!
pluk
Popeye is all sorts of amazing. Like comparing Nemesis with Fish. Kerfuffle and AdventureRyan

Bubbles1
I remember is needing to buy new shoes and a shirt afterwards because they were both destroyed. We got stuck on the lift under the buckets for a couple of minutes as well. Then it started raining. Possibly not the best way to experience it
Cal
Anyone know if Rumbas photo booth is open again yet, last time I saw it, it looked like this.   Shame if they don't have it open now seeing as it's good weather.
