August 24, 201114 yr comment_122095 But they were world first prototypes. This isn't. Raptor had a pretty smooth opening anyway so I hear...
August 24, 201114 yr comment_122101 Raptor runs essentially in the same way as a sit down rollercoaster. Air in any case is a very complicated ride and being the first, was bound to run into issues. I've no doubt that Swarm will open on open-day.. whether it will be open all day is another thing...
August 24, 201114 yr comment_122102 Oblivion in a similar fashion, ran in such a way that was a prototype to the UK, so that would also have been a possible reason for it not working well...The double loading/unloading station that is...
August 24, 201114 yr comment_122113 Was a bit tiresome really when the GS people were throwing up the "We are learning from our mistakes" line on AP day this year when it wasn't exactly the first time Thorpe has had bad opening days. Terrible decision from management to get them to say that.

August 24, 201114 yr comment_122121 I'm not sure, I'd say the problems on annual pass day were very different to problems on other daysYou're right, having all your main rides closed bar Inferno in 2009 and running out of all your food in Merlin owned restraunts in 2011 are totally different problems.
August 24, 201114 yr Author comment_122128 Indeed they are, had the park had the numbers they expecting and not 2/3 times them it would have probably been ok...
August 29, 201114 yr comment_122293 Wow, its been quiet here for a few days! Anyone know how the construction is coming along?
August 29, 201114 yr comment_122295 I'm sure when something major happens that we will be informed.I imagine it's only footers being constructed at the moment, and the continuing work on the station.
August 29, 201114 yr comment_122296 Also it's a bank holiday :L haha can't imagine construction companies are working
August 29, 201114 yr comment_122297 Well there's an update on Merlin Mania from yesterday here... But nothing is really happening. The bridge is being filled in a bit though.
August 29, 201113 yr comment_122307 Go Merlin has another update from the 19th, but literally nothing of remote interest has changed. The only small change is that the pile driver appears to have gone, meaning the footers are probably in place/nearly all in place since then, but that's not entirely exciting is it?As Whiteknuckle said, when something of interest happens, we'll let the fanboys do the work and get back to us with photos while we all drink tea and bitch about Thorpe's older rides.
September 2, 201113 yr comment_122514 Courtesy of Ricky:Hmmm looks good, there's the dreaded speculation tank. Has it just sat there since the last discussion or do they move it around? Can't wait for the excessive promotion at fright nights!!
September 2, 201113 yr comment_122515 Like the sign, but sorta detracts attention from the tank and the atmosphere around that.. Shame in some ways the sign couldn't have been positioned elsewhere so that it's close enough to the tank for it to tie in, bit far enough for it to not detract from the tank.
September 2, 201113 yr comment_122516 Ok guys. Imagine you are a member of the public. You walk into a theme park, Colossus, Inferno, Saw and Stealth reaching into the skies like claws in the sand. And then, a tank and a sign declaring their next big ride for 2012 greets you immediately as you enter the park. Thats more then publicity, thats a statement saying, yes we have these big rides but whats coming will blow everything else away.If you are just a normal, one day at a theme park in a year kinda guest you see this and you'd be astounded. You wouldn't be thinking "but the position of the sign detracts from the tank itself". Because apart from the minority on here, who cares. They have a BIG TANK, they have ACTORS STOPPING LES GETTING INTO THE SWARM SITE, they have a GREAT BIG SIGN FOR SWARM. This is on a scale that thorpe has never achieved in the past.I'm all for adjectivity, but criticism for criticism's sake is ludicrous.
September 2, 201113 yr comment_122517 ^It's not criticism for the sake of criticism on my behalf. I'm not saying the sign is a bad thing; it's certainly a good thing for the sake of the public, as it further aids as to what on earth is going on with the tank. Personally, it could just be made a little more believable by having the sign a bit further away. After all, it would be no good saying 'Entertainment actors are operating in this area' near the Stealth area of Les Coogan, would it?
September 2, 201113 yr comment_122518 I'm so with you on this one Josh, it appears Mark is looking for an debate over nothing...
September 2, 201113 yr comment_122519 Gonna throw this out, but does any one else think the marketing for this is on a much larger scale than that of SAW - The Rides?
September 2, 201113 yr comment_122520 I'm so with you on this one Josh, it appears Mark is looking for an debate over nothing... Erm no, Mark is just expressing his opinion on a forum :rolleyes:And I'm so with you on this one Mark.
September 2, 201113 yr comment_122522 Why can't we all just smile and blow kisses and be happy about the really very pretty sign Thorpe have made? Would be nice, if the tank wasn't loaned, to see some continuity next season, and see the tank on The Swarm's site over-turned and half blown-up or something... One can dream...
September 2, 201113 yr comment_122523 Gonna throw this out, but does any one else think the marketing for this is on a much larger scale than that of SAW - The Rides? Most definitely. There is no movie franchise IP sucking up a good chunk of the budget this time round; more money left for the themeing, advertising, ride hardware etc.
September 3, 201113 yr comment_122529 Erm no, Mark is just expressing his opinion on a forum :rolleyes:And I'm so with you on this one Mark.Agreed the public are there main audience and main source of revenue.
