daboywunda
Was there for Ministry (also during the day)... Was lucky enough to be on a train where the fire effects went off.. It was mental to look at! In terms of effects - Fire was present.. In a way.. Sound effects working, heli-blades rotating with splashdown there working but not the one by the fire engine. There seems to have been a new fountain added since my last visit, that spurts water up vertically by the helicopter. It also seems like the fire isn't meant to trigger every time the train passes, only seemingly attempting to trigger completely randomly on between 1 in 3 to 1 in 7 times. With varying degrees of success. The area is looking amazing in terms of themeing now that the ambulance and telephone box are in.. But I can't help but think that there should be something more by the entrance... So, hopefully future development of the island will address this.. Stokesyboy
There seems to have been a new fountain added since my last visit, that spurts water up vertically by the helicopter. Is that the one that goes up occasionally, train doesn't seem to pass sometimes and it'll still go off! That's been there since opening! Dodge2002
THE SWARM had some major downtime on Wednesday, didn't open up until 3pm. However the moment it opened it had a massive queue. And it only really struck me then how fast the queue line moves, the thing is a throughput monster when its running full capacity!
Tom
That was possibly helped by the fact fastrack wouldn't have been sold if it was suffering issues all day!

And it only really struck me then how fast the queue line moves, the thing is a throughput monster when its running full capacity! I went on Wednesday afternoon and noticed the queue reached 90 mins, probs was more but I didn't bother queueing for it. I did also notice the fastrack queue for the Swarm was long - didn't surpriseme. I guess some people wanted to guarantee that they get a ride on it. Colossus and Nemesis Inferno were walk-on so I decided to get re-ride on those. SAW and Stealth still had a fair amount of people in the queue, I queued for around 30 mins for both. jjh123horry
Reqlly sorry if Ive asked this already, I really cant remember if I have. But wouldnt it be cool if thorpe built some sub woofers under the floor off the Swarm island, and then every so often have an explosion sound effect going off making it sound like a battle, and with every explosion you would get a rubble under foot from the sub woofers. What do you guys think?

Dodge2002
Seems like it's be a little risky seeing as the island is infilled land, it'd cause a lot of structural disruption over the years. Plus lets face it, it'd be broken after a month anyway...
mah boi
I don't think that would be possible as you describe it. It would work for a certain area only, depending how big the sub woofer is. And also it might not be safe for the soil around it, and it might cave in and disrupt the rest of the island. In the sense of the foundations.
alexander
I will be going Friday so hopefully it'll be quiet as most people will be back at school, I'll try and get some pictures in and also do a ride report of what is and what's not working! aTOMic
I think it would be brilliant if Thorpe Park put a BMX bike near the helicopter behind the fencing (so no-one could get at it). It would be a cool continuation of the advert and a little easter egg.
Confuzzled
Wow this is the best and most costly addition that Thorpe Park have added to there new ride 'THE SWARM' I am happy to announce: THE WING HAS A NEW LIGHT! OH EM GEE! Heres a pic: Compared to before ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

mah boi
On my visit to thorpe park today, I saw that all the effects on the swarm were working. I also took a video of the fire effect, which took some time to record. And as you can tell from the video, the fire effect is quite loud. Confuzzled
Advertisements have taken over the swarm TV's already.... Disgusting Coaster
Benin
Actually, it might make things more realistic, as the news report is meant to be like Sky after all...
Confuzzled
But there are no news reports.... just a 5 min cycle of adverts
Benin
Thorpe... Always one step forward, two steps back...
Sheepie
How disappointing. Like Benin said- it'd actually be pretty cool if it was integrated into the loop to reflect a proper television channel. It wouldn't surprise me if this was to end up being the case. I'm holding onto hope.
Coaster
This is completley ridiculous. How is any atmosphere going to be built up with advertisments?
JoshC.
My first thought after I heard this... Actually, it might make things more realistic, as the news report is meant to be like Sky after all... After hearing that it's on constantly... I'm holding onto hope. I do hope they aren't doing this permanently, and this was just a glitch or something. Not only would it ruin the atmosphere a bit, it would be a shame to see a very good video which obviously had a lot of thought put into it used for only a few months... c1hrisin, alexander, Sidders and 1 other
Marc
Thorpe are not going to pay £1000's to create an advert which is a fairly big part of the ride experience to change it to adverts a few months later, ive no doubt there will be a reason for this and it will change back. StevenVig
And so the downward spiral begins on yet another new offering from the park. I give it a year before it ends up in this sort of state: BigBobJones
